Guild Ball: Hunter’s Guild ‘Egret’

Posted on November 15th, 2017 under , , . Posted by

I have been a little sidetracked lately with another project of mine, but I finally got around to finish up another model for my son’s Hunters Guild.  I have 5 of the 6 models now completed that he gave me to paint, the last one left being the second Captain ‘Skatha’.  Today we have a Striker for his Guild, ‘Egret’.

Daily Chronicle: SteamCon Swag Box

Posted on November 13th, 2017 under , , , , , , . Posted by

Steamforged Games announced over the weekend the contents of the SteamCon Swag Box.  SteamCon UK is taking place this weekend November 17th-19th and SteamCon USA will be December 1st-3rd (Chicago area).

I have not gotten in a game of Guild Ball in quite awhile, but I am looking forward to SteamCon.  My oldest son is flying in from Arizona for the event, and I plan on getting in a lot of friendly games with him trying out all my different guilds.
Anyway’s back to the contents of the Swag Box.

  • 1x Metal Skulk Miniature
  • 1x Old Jake’s Coaster
  • 1x Guild Tattoo Sheet
  • 6x Random Guild Cards (Yes, they’re the new errata cards)
  • 1x Union in Chains Ball
  • 1x SteamCon Goal Token
  • 1x SteamCon Bottle Opener
  • 2x SteamCon Bang Sticks
  • 1x SteamCon Lanyard & SteamCon Ribbon

Steamforged also surprised us with an announcement that the next two 6-man boxes for the Farmer’s and Blacksmith’s Guild will be sold at SteamCon with a strict 1 per customer.  Good thing I have 2 son’s coming with me.

Guild Ball: The Union in Chains – Week Five – Results

Posted on November 10th, 2017 under , . Posted by

We are heading into the final weekend to get results in for The Union in Chains (besides games that will also be played at SteamCon UK).  The last day to record any games is Monday November 13th.

This past week, the Engineer’s Guild really turned things around.  I guess the Guild really wants the new ‘Veteran Harry’.
Also during the week, ‘Obulus’ sent a letter to the Hunter’s Guild informing them that they will be taking ‘Veteran Hemlocke’ in return the Hunter’s are getting ‘Veteran Minx’
I am sorry to see the Mason’s Guild losing to the Brewer’s, but I am happy the Fisherman are winning over the Butcher’s.  Let’s see if the Fisherman can hold them off.

Guild Ball: Hunter’s Guild ‘Ulfr’

I have to admit, I am starting to slack a little on the Hunter’s Guild models for my son.  This past weekend I got a little side tracked with a model railroading project that I am working on in my basement (nothing to elaborate, just something for the top of my bar).  Anyway’s last week I was able to finish the fourth model for the Hunter’s Guild that my son provide me.  ‘Ulfr’, a Striker for the Guild.

Guild Ball: The Union in Chains – Week Four – Results

Posted on November 3rd, 2017 under , . Posted by

It is the end of week 4 for The Union in Chains and some of the match ups are getting really really close.  There is not much more time to get games recorded.  Next week, Week 5 will be the final week (plus games played at SteamCon UK) will decide the fate of the Veteran players.  I really hope the Mason’s can come back against the Brewer’s.  The original sculpt for the Mason’s not too many players liked it (including myself), but I do like the new sculpt for Veteran Decimate, so now the Mason players are trying to dig themselves out of a hole.

I am cheering on Mason’s, Fisherman. Engineer’s and Mortician Guilds.

Guild Ball: SNEAK PEEK Old Father’s Harvest, The Farmer’s Guild

Posted on November 2nd, 2017 under , , . Posted by

A sneak peek image of the next Farmer’s Guild box set popped on Twitter late yetsterday afternoon and the estimated street date is early January 2018.  I am really hopping that this box will be an early release at SteamCom USA at the beginning of December.  Either case, I know what models will be early in the queue for me come 2018.  Another ball-marker, goal and terrain piece is also included with this set.

Guild Ball: Sing When You’re Winning, The Brewer’s Guild

Posted on November 1st, 2017 under , , . Posted by

It’s the start of a new month, so I thought I’d better get a post in.  Last Friday October 20th, Steamforged Games released the newest set of 6 models and this time it was for the Brewer’s Guild.  It seemed to be a farely quiet release for them (probably with getting ready for both SteamCon’s and the global event The Union in Chains), anyways I was able to get an order in with an online retailer.  With a slight shipping delay (I was in no rush) I finally received my package this week.  ‘Sing When You’re Winning’ for the Brewer’s Guild complements the original 6 from the Kick-Off Starter Set bringing the Guild count to 12 models.  The box set consists of: Esters, PintPot, Veteran Spigot, Quaff, Mash and Stoker.  With this Brewer’s box set (not counting limited edition models and kickstarter models) I now have every model for every Guild, not all painted, but we are getting there.  Having every model painted will definitely be a goal for 2018.

Guild Ball: Hunter’s Guild ‘Theron’

Posted on October 31st, 2017 under , , . Posted by

Well my son will finally be thrilled that one of his Captains is now completed for his Hunter’s Guild, ‘Theron’ a Defensive Midfielder for the Guild.

I am half way down now with the 6 models he provided me and slowly working on the fourth model.  As of now my timeline is looking good to have them completed by the end of November.
It turned out to be a pretty good month for October, I was able to finish up my remianing Fisherman models and also started and completed the Blacksmith’s Guild, along with starting my sons Hunters.  We’ll see how November goes, I may slow it down a bit and get ready for SteamCon USA.

Guild Ball: The Union in Chains – Week Four – Veteran Hat

Posted on October 30th, 2017 under , . Posted by

We are now into week four for The Union in Chains and you have not read Part 5 of the story, you have to read it NOW.

SPOILERS BELOW… read Part 5 of the story.
The new sculpt for Veteran Hat has been released today and I am torn between the one for the Alchemist’s Guild and the one for the Engineer’s Guild, but I think I am leaning more towards the Engineer’s on this one.  I think the mechanica arm looks really cool.
With the change in sculpts for Decimate, I am now leaning towards the following models…
Hemlocke: Mortician’s
Decimate: Mason’s (previously Brewer’s)
Gutter: Fisherman’s
Veteran Hat: Engineer’s
Alchemist’s Guild: Veteran Hat

Guild Ball: The Union in Chains – Week Two – Decimate – UPDATE

Posted on October 30th, 2017 under , . Posted by

It was noticed this morning that Steamforged updated the sculpts on their blog for the new Veteran Decimate.  After The Union in Chains event is over, Decimate will be playing for either the Brewer’s Guild or Mason’s Guild.

Below are the sculpst for Decimate, one from a few weeks ago, and one form this morning.
Decimate Previous: Brewer’s Guild

Decimate New: Brewer’s Guild

Decimate Previous: Mason’s Guild

Decimate New: Mason’s Guild
I actually prefer both of the new sculpts over the previous ones.  The hat on the Mason’s Guild reminded me too much of Warmachine Khador.  I am really liking the sculpt much better.

Guild Ball: Hunter’s Guil ‘Jaecar’

Posted on October 29th, 2017 under , , . Posted by

Continuing along with my son’s Hunter’s Guild, today we ‘Jaecar’ a Winger for the Guild and his pitfall-marker.

They are coming along quite nicely and I should also have one of his Captains ready by tomorrow.

Guild Ball: Hunter’s Guild ‘Hearne’

Posted on October 27th, 2017 under , , . Posted by

Well, I officially started on my son’s Hunter’s Guild for Guild Ball.  The plan (like the previous Guilds I have been painting) is to have them completed by the time he arrives for SteamCon USA.  Luckily he did send me the entire Guild, only 6 models, so I should have them completed in time.  Plus the color palette for the Hunter’s, Greens/Browns fit my painting style, so they should also look decent on the table top.  I also asked my son if he wanted the highlights to be ‘subtle’ or to really ‘pop’.  He elected on them to be more ‘subtle’ and blend more with the base color, so that is what I tried to do.

I elected to start off with ‘Hearne’, a Centre Back for the Guild.  Being a 40mm model it would be a little bit easier for me to paint and see how I like the color palette.  I enjoy painting the 40mm models and I feel they come out looking a little nicer.

I have Jaecar up next on the painting table and then need to still decide who will be next and start getting them prepped.

Guild Ball: Hunter’s Guild Hit The Queue

Posted on October 24th, 2017 under , , . Posted by

My wife landed late last night after visiting my two oldest boys back in Arizona and while driving home from the airport, she tells me that she has a package for me from my oldest.  I guess he did pack up some of his Hunter’s Guild models and sent them my way.

I opened the box this morning and he has 6 models for me to paint along with a pitfall-marker.
The models are as follows:
Skatha
Theron
Egret
Hearne
Jaecar
Ulfr
I did not see a Mascot in the box, so I am assuming he will get that done himself (or he already completed one).  I do know that he does have Seenah on his own painting table.
Now I need to decide what kind of color palette I will be using, more than likely lots of different shades of browns and some greens.  Green is his favorite color and it will be the color I use to link them all as Team (I try to do that with all my Guilds).
Looks like I’ll be busy for a bit.
