Showcase: Eldar Female Autarch of Craftworld Iybraesil (Conversion)

Posted on July 17th, 2018 under , , , . Posted by

Today I can present you my finished female Autarch conversion, painted for my Craftworld Iybraesil collection. It wasn’t an easy conversion, putting my limited green stuff skill to the test, but despite some slightly rough spots, I’m pretty happy with how she turned out. Check out more pictures after the jump.

WIP: Eldar/Aeldari Female Autarch of Iybraesil (Conversion)

Posted on July 5th, 2018 under , , , . Posted by

This is a conversion I had in mind for quite a while now. When the plastic Autarch model was released, it almost immediately occurred to me that the arms and helmet from the classic Autarch sculpts would make for a great alternate pose. I also wan…

Showcase: Harlequin Player of The Masque of the Dance without End

Posted on June 25th, 2018 under , , , . Posted by

At last, I completed reworking my Ultramarines, so it is about time for a new challenge. I’ve had a couple of plastic Harlequin models sitting around for quite some time now, but never got around to painting them. I’ve had several Masques in mind, including Soaring Spite, Silent Shroud and custom ones, but in the end I settled for The Dance without End. Their paint scheme allowed me to pick up several colours from both my Craftworld Iybraesil and Dark Eldar models, and I like their background. As Iybraesil is obsessed with exploring long lost maiden worlds, I imagine they must quite ofte encounter The Dance without End on their travels, as this Masque is familiar with the deepest and strangest reaches of the webway.

Showcase: Ultramarines Techmarine with Thunderfire Cannon

Posted on June 15th, 2018 under , , , . Posted by

These two models are some of my more recent paint jobs, dating back to 2014, so naturally, I didn’t have to touch up much. The main changes are new bases for the Thunderfire Cannon and Techmarine. I used one of the new large oval bases, which weren’t available back then. Check out more pictures after the jump.

Showcase: Ultramarines Venerable Dreadnought

Posted on June 7th, 2018 under , , , . Posted by

Here is my other Ultramarines Dreadnought. It’s a plastic Venerable Dreadnought, originally painted in 2010. Once again I refined the highlights, added sponge weathering and built a new base. I also changed the front armour and a couple of other details – check it out after the jump.

Showcase: Ultramarines Scouts with Sniper Rifles

Posted on May 22nd, 2018 under , , , . Posted by

Today we have another rework of one of my older Ultramarines squads. These metal Scouts with sniper rifles were amongst the oldest models from my collection (painted around 2009), so there was quite a bit of repainting needed to bring them up to scratc…

Showcase: Ultramarines Stormtalon Conversion

Posted on May 16th, 2018 under , , , . Posted by

This Stormtalon was originally painted in 2014, before the Stormhawk Interceptor was released. I wasn’t happy with the front-heavy design, so I streamlined its Silhouette a little bit. Nowadays I probably would have just bought a Stormhawk. Despite its rather recent paint job, I still changed a few things like replacing the hand-painted weathering with more refined sponge weathering and upgrading the rather boring original base. Check out all the pictures after the jump.

Showcase: Ultramarines Drop Pod

Posted on May 14th, 2018 under , , , . Posted by

I haven’t posted in a while but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t busy working on my remaining older Ultramarines paint jobs. Here we have a Drop Pod for my recently reworked Sternguard Veterans. Apart from some sponge weathering, I also added scorch marks and burn damage that would occur while entering the atmosphere.

Review: Citadel Munitorum Varnish

Posted on February 18th, 2018 under , , . Posted by

Protecting your precious paint jobs is important. Even with just a moderate amount of handling, paint rubs off the edges easily. Thus, varnishing is essential. It’s surprising that it took Games Workshop so long to come up with a successor for their Purity Seal spray varnish.  Munitorum Varnish is supposed to have “a semi-matt or satin finish that is very much like the natural sheen of the paint itself” – let’s see whether it lives up to its promise.

Showcase: Ultramarines Apothecary

Posted on February 4th, 2018 under , , , . Posted by

Another older model of mine I upgraded to a 32mm base. Otherwise, I didn’t change much, and while the paint job doesn’t reflect my current skills, I guess it’s still fine. I like the head with the half mask, it somehow reminds me of a chirurgeon wearing mouth protection. Check out another shot after the jump.
