WIP: Ultramarines Assault Squad #2

Posted on August 18th, 2017 under , , , . Posted by

Some progress on my Assault Squad. The first three models have been reworked and improved, they just need some transfers and static grass. Seven more to go! What are you up to this weekend?

WIP: Ultramarines Assault Squad #1

Next up is another of my older Ultramarines squads. I’ve reworked a Tactical and a Devastator Squad, which makes an Assault Squad a natural next choice. Above you can see all the changes I made: a new Sergeant made from plastic Vanguard parts, a second flamer, some new arms, heads and torsos here and there, and last but not least 32mm bases. Find out what the squad looked like before after the jump.

WIP: Ultramarines Marneus Calgar in Power Armour #2

Update on Marneus. I painted the base, the banner and worked on the original paint job. I refined the highlights, especially on the blue armour, and repainted a couple of details. For example, his left shoulder guard to be just gold, which looked a bit…

While I’m putting the last finishing touches to my Devastator Squad, I prepared the next model to be reworked: the classic Jes Goodwin Marneus Calgar in Power Armour sculpt. Apart from the paint job I’ll refine, I also added a new scenic 32mm base and …

Slow but steady progress on my Devastator Squad. The repainting of the three models on the left is complete, they just need their decals fixed and some static grass. The Marine on the right is a really  old model from the 4th Edition starter …

Review: Warhammer 40.000 Know No Fear Starter Set

Posted on July 22nd, 2017 under , , , . Posted by

Close on the heels of Dark Imperium, Games Workshop introduced three new ways to get started with Warhammer 40.0000 this week: Know No Fear, a pared-down version of Dark Imperium, First Strike, containing the new easy-to-build Reivers, Intercessors, Plague Marines and Poxwalkers, and a Getting Started with Warhammer 40.000 magazine with a free Primaris Marine on the cover. In this review, we’ll have a look at Know No Fear, especially at it’s probably most defining feature: the play mat and cardboard bunker.

The second batch of my Devastator Squad is done – the three models in the front row. All of them were older paint jobs I’ve reworked. I also changed the Sergeant’s armament, adding a Storm Bolter and a pointing hand. The symbol on his knee comes from t…

Update on my Devastator Squad. The three all new models in the back are complete. The two models in the front are older paint jobs which I’m refining. I almost completely removed the highlights all over and replaced them with finer, more controlled one…

I made some decent progress with my latest batch of Blood Bowl Skaven. Clothes, armour, fur, and skin are done, now onto the details. I can’t wait to add Forge World’s Skaven booster to my growing team, I guess I’ll aim for a full 16 model team, includ…

Showcase: Ultramarines Captain Sicarius (limited edition)

Posted on June 10th, 2017 under , , , . Posted by

Here we have the original model for Cato Sicarius, Captain of the Ultramarines 2nd company. It was a limited edition release for the second iteration of Cities of Death, before Sicarius’ backstory was fleshed out for the 5th Edition Space Marines codex. Seems like the noble Cato used to be quite a bruiser in his early days, sporting lightning claws and an edgy mohawk. This is a rework of an older paint job of mine, so check out what has changed after the jump.
