Unboxing – Triumvirate of the Primarch – Part Three

Posted on March 31st, 2017 under , , , , , . Posted by

So we’ve looked at Grand Master Voldus, Warden of the Librarius…now lets have a look at Roboute Guilliman, Primarch of the Ultramarines…

“A strange fate binds Roboute Guilliman, Grand Master Voldus and the Fallen Angel Cypher together. They walk a path of providence; though whether it ends in damnation or deliverance, none can say. On the battlefield, this triumvirate of warriors is an unstoppable, inspiring force, bolstering the morale of those they lead while shattering enemy lines with their staggering strength. Cypher’s pistols roar as Voldus’ psychic powers lash out – all the while, Guilliman strides like a reborn god, bellowing rallying cries and striking down countless foes.”

Roboute Guilliman
‘Primarch of the Ultramarines’
Clad in the Armour of Fate, adorned with Ultramarines and Imperial iconography and featuring a splendid ceremonial halo, he wields the Hand of Dominion and the Emperor’s Sword (yes, the Emperor’s Sword). Supplied with a sculpted 60mm round base, featuring a broken Imperial Eagle.
Roboute Guilliman – Sprue
Here’s pictures of both sides of the sprue for Roboute Guilliman…

Roboute Guilliman – Assembled
As long as you follow the instructions the model is relatively simple to assemble though there are a few points that might create a bit of confusion without them. Fortunately Games Workshop instructions in models such as these are very detailed so as long as you’re systematic I foresee no issues with putting this one together.
The Primarch comes with a choice of two heads. They slot in and out fairly easily so you could in theory paint both and switch between them should you so desire. I went with the helmeted version…

Here’s some close-ups of the detail…

The base is also very detailed indeed…

Instructions and Stats
As some-one who assembles models from a lot of different companies ranges I have to say that instructions with clear diagrams, numbers that match with parts on the sprue and actual views of the rear of the models were particularly enjoyable…
Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.

Unboxing – Triumvirate of the Primarch – Part Two

So we looked at Cypher, Lord of the Fallen in Part One…now lets have a look at Grand Master Voldus, Warden of the Librarius…

Cypher’s pistols roar as Voldus’ psychic powers lash out – all the while, Guilliman strides like a reborn god, bellowing rallying cries and striking down countless foes.”

Grand Master Voldus
‘Warden of the Librarius’
Clad in ornate terminator armour, bearing marks of the Grey Knights, he is armed with the Malleus Argyrum – an ancient Daemon hammer that acts as a conduit for his psychic energies – and a storm bolter. Supplied with a Citadel 40mm Round base.
Grand Master Voldus – Sprue
Here’s pictures of both sides of the sprue for Grand Master Voldus…
Grand Master Voldus – Assembled
Another model with a surprisingly lower parts count. The only minor issue I had was that there’s not a lot of room to get the head into place as the decorate piece above gets in the way a little….but when that’s all you can find to complain about you know you’re dealing with a quality model.

Instructions and Stats
As some-one who assembles models from a lot of different companies ranges I have to say that instructions with clear diagrams, numbers that match with parts on the sprue and actual views of the rear of the models were particularly enjoyable…

In part three we’ll be looking at Roboute Guilliman – Primarch of the Ultramarines…

Unboxing – Triumvirate of the Primarch – Part One

I’ve once again succumbed to that hobby dilemma of buying something i’ll probably never use because it’s really amazing looking and then ending up wanting to use it because it’s so amazing looking…the culprit in this case was the ‘Triumvirate of the Primarch’ box set…

I’m going to cover each of the three characters contained within in their own individual features but don’t worry…I’m only going to do pictures of the box in this first one…

The box is actually nicely presented with a nicely decorated internal section, an art print and a quite elaborate set of instructions that also includes character stats for the box contents…

Cypher
‘Lord of the Fallen’
Cypher – Lord of the Fallen – bedecked in archaic, makeshift gear appropriate to his renegade nature, his armour is retrofitted with parts from a variety of patterns – each part telling a story. He’s armed with a modified plasma pistol, and carries a particularly interesting sword on his back… Supplied with a Citadel 32mm Round base.
Cypher – Sprue
Here’s pictures of both sides of the sprue for Cypher.

Cypher – Assembled
Surprisingly few parts for such a detailed model and there were no tricky aspects to the assembly at all.

Here’s a few close-ups…

W40K – Triumvirate of Ynnead – Visarch

Gathering Storm storyline has (for now) three books. Second one is focused on Eldars and Triumvirate of Ynnead box contains three amazing heroes – Yncarne, Visarch and Yvraine. In my opinion one of the best sculpts from GW – essence of Eldar race – subtle lines, gems, power weapons… I spent a lot of time[…]

Empyric Storm Cards, One of the Best Games – 40K Blog

Posted on February 6th, 2017 under , , , , , , . Posted by

Approximate Reading Time: 7 minutesThe games are coming thick and fast at the moment for me. I recently had a 2,500 point battle between my Astra Militarum and Chaos using the second mission from the Gathering Storm book. We also used the Empyric Storm Cards which were fantastic fun and this article will detail the odd and wonderful moments the cards produced. The Mission The mission pits the Guard against waves of Chaos over eight turns. The Guard deploy in one half of the table with the board split down the long edge. At the start of the Chaos player’s turn they move on […]

Unboxing – Triumvirate of the Imperium – Part Three

Posted on February 3rd, 2017 under , , , , . Posted by

So we looked at Saint Celestine ‘The Living Saint’ in Part Two…now lets have a look at Belisarius Cawl ‘Archmagos Dominus’…
“A truly inspiring presence, the Triumvirate of the Imperium bolster the might of their allies even as they effortlessly obliterate the enemies of the Imperium that stand in their way. Waves of telepathic power from Inquisitor Greyfax steady the nerves and enhance the aim of the warriors around her, even as Archmagos Cawl’s augmentative data-shunts aid the war machines of the Imperium while stymieing those of the foe. At the head of the triumvirate fight Saint Celestine and her Germinae Superia, calling down the fury of the Emperor through ringing war hymns.”

Belisarius Cawl
‘Archmagos Dominus’
A massive Adeptus Mechanicus Archmagos, he is armed with a master-crafted power axe, arc scourge and refractor field, as well as featuring a mechadendrite hive and scryerskull.
Belisarius Cawl – Sprue
