This is the final game in the campaign Phil and I have been playing based on the excellent campaign rules in Wyrd Chronicles 5. After three games so far there is nothing to choose between us – we are on the same number of game wins and we are eve…
Game 3 of our campaign was again a 30ss affair and as you can see from the Turn 7 screenshot, it turned out to be quite a bloodbath. We used the same crews as the last game, but for this game Phil was down a Punk Zombie due to injury. I’m really …
This is a brief report for Game 2 in our campaign. When we kicked it off we were using the playtest version of the Malifaux campaign rules which have since been officially released in Wyrd Chronicles 5 (PDF). I recommend checking them out as this is a very fun way to play Malifaux. It’s a [...]
Phil and I kicked off a new campaign this week (we’re campaign junkies!) which pits Lady Justice against Nicodem. We’ll play 3-4 games in total and are using injury and equipment rules to spice things up. I’ll write a story arc for the games as we go, but I’ll wait until after Game 2 to [...]
Continuing the series of Malifaux games to teach Phil to play we’re now at 30ss with full Strategy and Scheme selection. Here’s a brief video describing our game.
Here’s the Map we used if you’re interested in using it in your …
So I finally got around to a bit of painting in 2013! I haven’t matt varnished them yet, hence the slight sheen. Here are the first models I’ve completed this year -
Sue
Witchling Handler
Misaki and Rusty Alice (Puppets)
Supply Wagon

Phil and I got a second game of Malifaux played on VASSAL this week. This time we went for slightly bigger crews and had random (with a free reflip as we pretty much had fixed crews) Strategies. I got Turf War and Phil had Contain Power. We decided not to use Schemes as Phil is [...]
This is a brief battle report from a starter box demo I played with my friend Phil. Phil liked the look of the Rasputina crew and decided to use her. I took Sonnia Criid and her starter box. It was a really fun game and Phil got the hang of it quickly. Next week we’ll [...]
I’m a Johnny-Come-Lately when it comes to Felicia Day’s Web series The Guild. I wasn’t even aware the series existed until a few weeks ahead of this year’s Origins Game Fair. I knew of Felicia Day from a little television show called Buffy the Vampire Slayer, you may have heard of it. In the seventh season Day played one of the potential slayers, Vi, in eight episodes. I loved that show, but was a late-comer to that series as well, coming along sometime during season two. Anyhow, Day was included on the guest list for Origins this year and since I was attending as a member of the press and knew I would have an opportunity to interview her, I made myself more familiar with her work. I visited the Geek & Sundry Web site and got caught up on The Guild. I enjoyed it, for the greatest part. (I find Vork utterly offensive and detestable, especially his continued collection of his deceased grandfather’s Social Security checks, but I digress.) While I’m not into MMORPGs at all, I appreciate the humor, having dealt with my share of Everquest junkies in the mid 90s. At Origins, Day was charming and a [...]
Over the first two games Peter (with a little help from his Gremlins) had carved out a commanding 9:3 lead in the campaign. I really needed to win this one (and probably the next two!) to have a chance of recovering things. I decided to bring out the big guns for this 30SS game. Sonnia [...]
On Thursday night myself and Peter managed to kick off The Other White Meat campaign. Peter is playing his Gremlins as they become the prey or some Guild personnel out for a little sport. Well, that was the plan… In Game 1 we played a masterless 20SS game. This represents unsanctioned Guild personnel going on [...]

Earlier this year at GenCon Bring Your A-Game took the Munchkin plunge, and we went whole hog. Some of the sets we picked up at the show include the three latest booster packs, The Guild, Skull Kickers and Penny Arcade. The Guild is now listed as “Available,” and Skull Kickers shows up officially as a “New Release,” while the Penny Arcade sets is listed as “In Production.” Still, some people have been able to get a hold of all three sets already, including Bring Your A-Game, so today we’re going to review all three expansions. We’ll start with the first release, based on Felicia Day’s very popular web series, The Guild. Most of the main characters show up at least twice, Codex on Elected Guild Leader and Pep Talk From Your Avatar. The set breaks down into eight new Doors and seven Treasures. Of the seven Treasures, the only actual Treasure is the Munchkin Armor, worth 500 Gold Pieces and a modest +3 Bonus. The Pep Talk From Your Avatar is the gratuitous Go Up a Level. Sell Game T-Shirts gets you a couple Treasures that can immediately be used, even if you happen to be in combat. That’s a [...]
Wow! What a fun game that was. The game turned into a desperate defence by a Sonnia Criid crew against Collodi and his Dolls. I had Distract as my strategy and Hunter had Claim Jump. He placed the Claim Marker in the middle of my deployment zone meaning both of our strategies would be decided [...]

This is the third post in my Audit series (the first on Warmachine and Hordesand the second was about Flames of War). This time around I’m taking a critical look at my Malifaux gaming. I’m trying to catchup on some of my painting at the moment. With these guys painted it only leaves a few puppets and the Dead Justice crew to do. Oh, and my custom built puppet avatar Seamus! I painted them using the underpainting technique again (to fit in with my other Guild models). Exorcist Guild [...]

Well it’s been a while since I’ve had the chance to update here and let alone take photos of my figures I’ve been working on. So first off no I haven’t died off… I’ve been busy with numerous figures and took out a little 4 man tournament since there were about 6 cancellations the night [...]
So, I played in my first Malifaux tournament today. And, I won.
Funny that! Four of us showed up to play, so we did a three-round
round-robin. Basically, we all played each other and then we compared
tournament records at the…
This post presents a five game escalating campaign that is designed for two players, one of which should be a Gremlins player. It is named after and based on this excellent story (also performed in this episode of the Aethervox). If you haven’t read/listened to this story I recommend you do. Like all of the [...]

the game my Guild forces are taking on the Neverborn.
