Shades of Vengeance at UKGE

Shades of Vengeance will be attending UKGE and are bringing a lot with us! Here are a few highlights:
Survival Kickstarter Main Image
Era: Survival currently has an active Kickstarter, “Expansions into Darkness”.
This Kickstarter offers multiple expansions, with the number increasing as Stretch Goals are met! It’s just £10 get at least 3 (The Swarm Faction Source Book, the Infected Manual and Tales of the Outlands). These top-quality, full-colour expansions add to the Core Rulebook.
And if you don’t already have the Core Rulebook, don’t worry, there’s a chance to get hold of either that or the enhanced Definitive Edition Rulebook, which contains a number of extras which were cut from the original for length reasons!
Join us at: http://www.tinyurl.com/survival-expansions
drive
Era: Lyres Pocket Edition, the second version of our second roleplaying game, has been entered for a UKGE Award!
In Era: Lyres, you play as people who aren’t adventurers (that’s way too dangerous!). Instead, you tell stories of your “amazing adventures” to the people of Yarnolth who, in turn, shower you with money and glory.
Hop into the nearest tavern and get going with your story with the full-colour Pocket Edition of this rulebook for just £5! It’s available from the Shades of Vengeance stand at UKGE, and the creator is around to talk about it as well!
Champion of Earth image
Last year, we brought Champion of Earth to UKGE as a prototype, and several people gave it a try.
Since then, we’ve completed the game and had a successful Kickstarter! You’ll be able to buy it from our stand for the first time at UKGE.
This year, we’ve brought some more prototypes to test out on you, so if you’re interested in finding out what we’re creating, drop by and find out!

Make sure you head to the Modiphius website to sign-up for the latest Fallout: Wasteland Warfare news.
ModiphiusCods
We would tell you more, but it’s been classified by Vault-Tec. So, if you want to find out more, then you’ll have to venture out to Modiphius’s settlement at Stand H5 to find out more.
The Modiphius away team will also be inviting you to explore the Final Frontier with Star Trek Adventures the roleplaying game and miniatures line. Check out this exclusive image of Lieutenant Worf from the Next Generation crew set.

It’ll also be your last chance to get a free promo miniature of Kirk and Picard – once they’re gone, that’s it, so make sure you don’t miss the chance to get your hands on them. All you need to do is sign up on the stand or make a purchase of £10 or more.
Oh, and did we mention there will be Cthulhu Bowling? If you think you have the skill to take on the Great Old Ones at ten-pin bowling, then roll up and try your hand. We promise that the pins are actually pin-shaped, and not Cyclopean in any way, shape or form. However, the balls are giant d20s, so it won’t be as easy as you think!

Ravage: Dungeons of Plunder Kickstarter Review

Posted on May 18th, 2017 under , , , , , . Posted by

Dungeon crawling is a well-used trope in the board gaming world; grab a party of likeminded adventurers and head underground to grab some loot and kick the snot out of all manner of monsters. But what if I told you that gold and sparkling gems weren’t the real treasure? What if you were a culture that used teeth as a currency? Well, all of a sudden venturing into dark subterranean deaths isn’t about collecting shinies and honour, but instead becomes an attempt to recreate a Pantera album cover in as a many imaginative ways as possible.

In many ways Ravage: Dungeons of Plunder is a typical dungeon crawler and in its basic premise I have to say that there isn’t a huge amount of original ideas in the game. You’ll venture into dark depths, kill monsters, grab loot, level up and hopefully last long enough to take on the story’s goal. But Ravage puts a few interesting tweaks into the age old formula and wraps it up in a package of beautiful artwork and striking graphic design.

EXIT: The Game – The Secret Lab Review

You may have noticed a surge in the number or Escape Room style board games appearing over the last few months.  Fresh on the heels of cooperative puzzle games like TIME Stories comes a whole range of one-time puzzles based on the escape room phenomenon that is gripping the world.  If you are like me, and live at the arse end of nowheresville you will most likely not have had an opportunity to visit one of these experiences.
Thankfully system like Unlock, Escape the Room and EXIT allow you to experience these cooperative puzzle sessions at home. We were lucky to receive a copy of EXIT The Secret Lab from Kosmos and so the opportunity of a bank holiday weekend meant I was able to lock ourselves into the dining room after a Sunday roast and see if the Tudor family was clever enough to escape a devious laboratory.

We were not.

Mantic Games at UKGE

Mantic Games, the brains behind the popular BattleZones modular terrain and tabletop games – including The Walking Dead, Kings of War and Dungeon Saga– is launching the TerrainCrate Kickstarter this April. TerrainCrate is a new range of detailed, pre-assembled, plastic scenery to create your perfect dungeon, town or battlefield. Each piece comes in coloured plastic, so you can take them out the box and place them on your gaming table, ready to play. Whether you’re exploring a mysterious dungeon, visiting a medieval town or fighting it out on the fields of battle, TerrainCrate brings your tabletop to life.
NEWSLETTER-terraincrate1
From launch there will be three ‘Crates’ to choose from, including TerrainCrate Dungeon, which includes everything you need to furnish a dungeon with incredibly detailed 3D scenery. From a wizard’s study packed with magical paraphernalia, to a glittering treasury overflowing with mysterious artifacts, this set is a dungeon master’s dream! Next up is TerrainCrate Battlefields, which is designed for skirmish wargames, fantasy-themed sports games or outdoor role-playing scenarios and includes a whole host of 3D scenery that’s ready to use straight from the box. Finally there’s TerrainCrate Town to recreate a fantasy-style setting complete with tavern, blacksmith and stables.
NEWSLETTER-terraincrate2
Mantic wants to create hard-wearing, plastic terrain that can last a lifetime and doesn’t cost a dragon’s hoard! They’d love to be able to produce hundreds of incredibly detailed scenery pieces but for that to happen, they need your help to make the dream a reality. With the TerrainCrate Kickstarter, you’ll help Mantic create the tooling it needs to produce TerrainCrate products, and in exchange you’ll be the first in the world to own this amazing range and you’ll get it at an even more amazing price! Colour Chess + Lure – Live on Kickstarter

dogeared-email-newsletter-1
Colour Chess: “A fun and unusual take on Chess which gets your brain working creatively… a must-have” Amanda Ross, Casual Chess Café London
Lure: “A very interesting, fast playing and strategic game that is easy to teach and play.” Chris Bowler, UKGMN / Unboxed Blog
The two games play on the same colourful board; players take two turns at once, the first of which is dictated by the colour that your opponent just moved to. This creates devilish strategies where you undermine your opponent’s piece structure or force poor exchanges. You can even combine pieces from one game into the other, for maximum replayability and value for money.
dogeared-email-newsletter-2
The modular board can be built randomly, patterned, or competitively. Each creates a different feel to the match.
The games are for 2 players, with adjustable complexity depending on the piece setup and game type.
“Definitely something new and unique,”
Please help us to get this game to the table so that more people can play and enjoy it.
Come and say hi at stand G24, you can play Colour Chess + Lure as well as all of the Stak Bots sets.

Deploy a miniature tank or charge with the cavalry at UKGE

IMGP6139
This year at UKGE, as well as our usual roster of board, card and roleplaying games, for the first time we will also be hosting one of the UK’s largest and longest-running tabletop wargaming tournaments – The BHGS Challenge.
Organised by the British Historical Games Society, this year will be the 15th annual edition of the BHGS Challenge, and the first at UKGE. With competitions in almost a dozen different tabletop historical gaming systems running across the weekend, Expo visitors will be able to see literally tens of thousands of tiny warriors from all eras of history in action on the tabletop at this year’s UKGE.
All of the events are now open for booking on our website, so if you are already a historical gamer why not sign up and join in? Otherwise, if the idea of recreating historical battles on the tabletop has always interested you, make sure to drop in on the BHGS Challenge during your visit to this year’s Expo.

▪ Cosplay fun – dozens of cosplayers dressed as characters from your favourite TV shows and films.
▪ Lots to see and try out on the stands of our Sponsors, Mayfair Games, Hawk Wargames, Catan Studio, and those of our Associate Sponsors, Geeknsons, Paizo, Osprey Games, Battlefield Hobbies and Wild West Exodus.
▪ Viking Village near the lake.
▪ Family fun in the largest ever family zone.
▪ Masses of open gaming space and a huge board game library.
