Today I put up a new product in my Skull Forge Scenics online store. This town well is the first of my “Ruins of the Ancient Realm” line of non-graveyard fantasy terrain. I kept it fairly generic, so it will fit with medieval fantasy games like Warha…

Daily Chronicle: AdeptiCon 2018 Registration

Posted on November 28th, 2017 under , , , , , , , . Posted by

I have been so busy the last two weeks with my other hobby, that I forgot to mention AdeptiCon 2018 Registration went live Friday night November 17th, 2017.

Luckily I used a calendar reminder on my phone and I jumped on registration as soon as it went live.  I am glad I did, one of the events my son wanted to play in sold out that evening.
Originally the plan was for my son and I to play in the “Bolt Action Team Tournament” on Friday, “Warmachine/Hordes Team Tournament” on Saturday, and the “Homelands Cup” for Guild Ball on Sunday.  We’ve been planning the “Bolt Action Team Tournament” since last years AdeptiCon, but neither of us has played much this past year that we decided to choose a different event.
My son has been interested in the “Batman Miniature” game, and that tournament “The Battle for the Cowl 3” was scheduled for Friday and he chose that he wanted to participate in that event.  Luckily that I registered right away, as that event was the one that sold out quickly, 40 spots.
So now I had to choose something to do on Friday.  I like just walking around conventions, catching up with old friends and shopping in the vendor hall, but this is a gaming convention, I need to sign up for an event.  Seeing how I my number one goal for 2018 will be to play more Guild Ball, I decided to sign up for the “Guild Ball AdeptiCon Championship” (currently sold out), not that I plan on doing good in this event, but it will be a good way just to get some more games in.
We are sticking to playing in the “Warmachine/Hordes Team Tournament” on Saturday, and the “Guild Ball Homelands Cup” on Sunday (at the time of this writing, both of these events still have some spots available).
As of now, it looks like AdeptiCon 2018 will be my first con of the year for 2018.  This year (2017), my son and I kicked off the year by going to the Las Vegas Open, I flew down to Phoenix, picked up my son and we drove to Las Vegas.  With the announcement of SteamCon USA (happening this weekend), the funding for Las Vegas Open will not be there since I am flying out my son this Thursday for SteamCon USA, then again for AdeptiCon in March.  Plus for LVO 2018, there are no Guild Ball events listed.  It seems that at that time of the year, Steamforged Games will be endorsing CaptainCon on the East Coast.

  • Boost the scale of warfare with the full rules for Unbound, now updated to the new edition rules. Unbound lets you play giant battles with multiple ’casters utilizing streamlined rules.
  • Fight for the hardiest kith and kin with the Northkin theme force, detailing the background, organization, and lives of these frosty Trollbloods.
  • Plus, catch up on the history of the Iron Kingdoms with the next installment of “The Fire & The Forge,” explore the contested city of Fellig in “Hostile Territory,” and get some insight on the stats of upcoming releases in “After Action Report.”
PIP NQP02
MSRP: $9.00
TRENCHER BLOCKHOUSE – CYGNAR STRUCTURE
Blockhouses are often built to support Cygnaran trenchworks, providing girded fire bays and supporting fire in the event of an enemy overrun of the front. Able to withstand direct artillery fire from all but the heaviest enemy guns, these blockhouses return fire with salvos from their impressive cannons while acting as mustering points to reinforce embattled trencher platoons.
PIP 31136
MSRP: $59.99
TRENCHER COMBAT ENGINEERS – CYGNAR UNIT
As turn the wrenches of the mechaniks, so turns the war. Trencher combat engineers are even tougher and more combat-ready than their field mechanik counterparts in the regular Cygnaran Army. Every man and woman among them must be as adept with a firearm as they are at maintaining and repairing the warjacks and weapons of the platoon.
PIP 31135
MSRP: $24.99
NORTHKIN RAIDERS – TROLLBLOOD UNIT
Dedicated raiding bands are vital for smaller kriels that rely on their spoils to survive. These skirmishers use ambushes and hit-and-run tactics. Raiders carry firebombs used to set buildings ablaze to distract sentries and lure them from storehouses, bombs equally effective against massed infantry. It is also their job to plunder downed foes after a skirmish, a task veteran warriors consider beneath them.
PIP 71110
MSRP: $84.99
VALKA CURSEBORN, CHIEFTAIN OF THE NORTH – TROLLBLOOD SOLO
Few warchiefs command so black a reputation as the acrimonious Valka Curseborn. Noted for a foul temper, he has become bitter and ruthless with the passing of the years. At each battle’s end, he looks around himself with bloodied axes, taking in the carnage he has unleashed, disgruntled that he still draws breath. He seeks a hero’s death but is too stubborn to die easily. The foe worthy to claim his life has yet to stand before him.
PIP 71116
MSRP: $17.99
REVELATOR/JUDICATOR MULTI-KIT – PROTECTORATE COLOSSAL
The consecrated colossals of the Protectorate of Menoth are towering masterpieces of faith and war. The Revelator strips away the obscuring magic of profane casters and scorches the earth to leave nothing but ashes behind.

PIP NQP02
MSRP: $9.00
TRENCHER EXPRESS TEAM – CYGNAR UNIT
The thundering rifle of a Trencher Express team means death to even well-protected foes of Cygnar. Each team consists of a human spotter working alongside a burly trollkin soldier wielding the largest hunting rifle ever manufactured, the Raevhan Express. Originally designed to bring down the towering Raevhan buffalo, these powerful weapons punch through heavy armor with ease.
PIP 31137
MSRP: $24.99
TRENCHER COMMANDO OFFICER – CYGNAR COMMAND ATTACHMENT
Masters of covert operations, sabotage, and targeted elimination behind enemy lines, the officers of the trencher commandos are the best of the best. These officers lead squads of commandos on the most dangerous and sensitive assignments, where their paramount goal is always simple: complete the mission at any cost.
PIP 31138
MSRP: $11.99
NORTHKIN BEAR HANDLERS & BATTLE BEARS – TROLLBLOOD UNIT
Some kriels are known for their skill in capturing and training wild northern bears, for the power of these beasts makes them potent weapons in times of war. By simple gestures combined with commands, a bear handler can designate prey even in the chaos of battle. The beasts become protective of their trainers and handlers and will lash out at anyone who raises a hand against them, making them useful guardians.
PIP 71109
MSRP: $44.99
NORTHKIN ELDER – TROLLBLOOD COMMAND ATTACHMENT
Among the Northkin leadership are their revered elders, many of whom are also powerful mystics, either shamans or sorcerers who can lend the cold of the north to the power already contained in krielstones to strengthen their allies. The winds they summon can speed an army into the fray or lend bite to the winter magics of other mystics.
PIP 71115
MSRP: $17.99
KOLGRIMA STONETRUTH, WINTER WITCH – TROLLBLOOD WARLOCK
Kolgrima Stonetruth is a half-mad and mystifying oracle. Born with the gift of sorcery, this trollkin witch could read the threads of the future in entrails and bones, glimpse fates in the eddies and whorls of a blizzard, and divine the destiny of a people in a patch of frostbite blackening a limb. Kolgrima emerged from the cave serving as her mountain lair when enemies threaten the north, accompanied by a great pack of winter trolls and serving as ancient war leader rather than oracle.
PIP 71117
MSRP: $24.99
NORTHKIN THEME BOX
From a Land of Ice and Snow…
Out of the blizzards of the frozen north march the Northkin, a mighty alliance of resolute trollkin warriors. The Northkin rush to battle with axes in hand, the blood of trolls in their veins, and frost-rimed winter trolls at their side, and any who face them must confront the fury of the winter storm. Northkin shamans command the bone-chilling power of their homelands, and their warbeasts freeze the enemy in place before shattering them with their weapons.
Take command of these barbaric warriors with this box, which puts a full warband of Northkin in your hands ready to support your warlock’s battlegroup. Crush the enemy and drink deep in victory!

WM: Khador Grolar (Warjack)

Posted on September 29th, 2017 under , , , . Posted by

The second Warjack that I needed to complete for a list I am thinking about playing at the Michigan GT next weekend is Grolar.  He is a pretty expensive Warjack at 18 points, but he is a ‘jack of all trades’, with some good shooting and melee.  The ability to shoot while in melee is an added bonus.

I picked up this model way back as a pre-release at the 2016 Las Vegas Open back in February 2016.  So it has been sitting for nearly 20 months.  I did already have him assembled and primed, so now it was just a matter of getting some paint on him.  I am happy to say that he his finally completed…though I am still undecided on lists for next weekend, I hear there will be some changes to Themes coming out today, we shall see if that will effect any of the lists I had thought of.

Painted this model up for a local player as prize support for an event I ran over the summer. Cool model and fun to paint. Don’t do commission painting often but it’s always fun to try something new once in awhile.

WM: Khador Juggernaut II (Warjack)

Posted on September 28th, 2017 under , , , . Posted by

Just a slight change of pace from painting Guild Ball the last couple of months (or six).  It has been just about 15 months since I last painted anything for my Khador army.  The last model painted for them was my Behemoth that I had purchased at Lock & Load 2016.  I have painted quite a few models for my Hordes Minions army, but not for Warmachine.

The Michigan GT is coming up in just over a week and I signed up for the Warmachine/Hordes Masters Event, I am not sure why since I only get to play every couple of months, but I thought I’d go for at least 2 games, get my losses and then check out the rest of the venue.  I was going to play my Minions army, but thought to myself, I have not played my Khador in a long time.  So I put together 2 lists using the new Themes for Khador.  I am going just for fun and have no intentions on winning, so why not play something different.  Well within those 2 lists, I am 3 models short of completely painted…so I am rushing to get them done.  Although a part of me is thinking that I still mught play Minions (to save some time on the Deathclock).  More than likely it will be a night before decision on what army I will be playing.
So back and Lock & Load 2016 when they released the new MKIII items, I purchased a Khador Battlebox (mainly for the mini rulebook), but having the 3 models in plastic was also nice.  Most of my Khador Warjacks are the heavy metal, so getting the new plastic is a nice change.  One of the models I am short in my list is a second Juggernaut.  I have one Juggernaut that was part of my original army that was painted back in November 2010 (a long time ago), so it was time for Version 2.0
I tend to paint my Warjacks more in a used condition rather than fresh off the assembly line, so that is continued also here.
