Age of Sigmar – Silver Tower was the first set in the re-release of Warhammer Quest, I never played but my gaming group was pretty excited about the release. Unfortunately with the plethora of box sets and reimagined games Games Workshop has put out in the la
Having tarted up a few Tyranids a while back for Kill Team, I have decided to tart up the rest of my old 1990’s Tyranid mini-horde and get them into 40K 8th Edition. All I am doing is rebasing the models, touching up a bit of the very basic paint job and then inking the hell out of them. I have too many other projects on the go and really do not want to do a major repainting undertaking on the whole army. The rest of the Genestealers, Termagants and Hormagaunts did not take long to freshen up and they amke up the bulk of the horde. Fortunately there are only about six models that need completely painting and they will get a similar scheme to the rest so they sort of fit in… It does make me wonder how many games I played back then with unpainted models, something that I refuse to do these days. I only have one old Zoanthrope model so will be running it as a Neurothrope instead. As for this old Hive Tyrant, it is a bit small by todays standards and the model does not quite match the model profile

We did get in a few games in July....Friday, 5 July 2019On this first Friday of July our friend Laura came over for the evening and played Terraforming Mars with us. Finnegan even joined in!We played on the Hellas board and... there wasn't a lot of ON BOARD developments - compared to some of our games! I can't believe how few cities there were! Amanda didn't have a single one!I played Helion (Yellow) and just BARELY squeaked out a win in a very, VERY close game!! I took the Diversifier Milestone and the Magnate Prize (which I'd sponsored) and second place in the Space Baron prize with a total of 53 points.Laura was second with 52 points! She had been playing Tharsis Republic (Black) and had taken the Polar Explorer Milestone and was in a three-way tie for second in the Cultivator Prize along with Amanda and Finnegan. Keira had won the prize. In fact, I was the ONLY one who didn't get any points for the Cultivator prize!?Keira (Ecoline - Green) and Amanda (Phololog - Red) were tied for third with 50 points eac

On July 4, 1863, the Union cavalry was in hot pursuit of the Confederate army retreating from Gettysburg. Judson Kilpatrick’s division had information about a rebel wagon train making its way through the South Mountains and set out to capture the wagons. Due to a rainstorm, the Union troopers arrived at the approaches to Monterey Pass in the evening. When they slowly made their way up the pass road, a lone Confederate cannon opened fire. Thus started the Battle of Monterey Pass, one of the most dramatic small cavalry actions of the Gettysburg campaign. The unusual circumstances – a fight at night, in very difficult terrain, while a torrential rainstorm was raging – made this “a night never to be forgotten”, as one participant in the action later wrote. For Sharp Practice, I have decided to divide the action into three parts. This was a playtest for the first part, the approach to the pass road and the Confederate ambush. The results of the game will have an effect on the next sce
Penal Legion The Imperial Guard is a tough place for anyone... woe betide you if you fall foul of the rules and regulations. Those who commit a crime that does not warrant immediate execution or petty punishment may find themselves assigned to a Penal sS You will be given the most basic of weapons and equipment and be expected to lead the assault from the front. If by some miracle you survive a mission (or ten) then you may have the opportunity for some redemption. More likely you will be just softening up the enemy and absorbing some of their ammunition.
GenCon 2019 officially starts tomorrow, just like last year, my plan is too only attend this Sunday's event. The Sunday ticket has a special price of just $15, compared to $110 for all 4 days, or $75 on Saturday. My son and I are going to check out the Vendor Hall too see what items we can pick up. My list slightly changed from two weeks ago and below is an updated version (italicized), honestly I am not sure how much we will be able to purchase off our list, most of the vendors are required to charge the Indianapolis sales tax, so in some instances it may be better to just purchase the items online (especially if it is a large order and we can receive free shipping), but obviously we will not know till we get there.HobbyWashes/Paints (if there is something I see that I really want), maybe some more Army Painter paints.GW Contrast Paints?TerrainBMG/Guild Ball small obstacles/buildingsModelsBMG Bronze TigerBMG Teen Titans? undecidedBMG White/Dark Knight (Harvey)BMG Ventriloquist Crew? undecide

How fitting it is, it is the last day of the month of July, and the last model from the "Why So Serious" box. The final model from this box is 'Joker's Bus Driver'.I still have a few more models to complete (3) from "The Joker: Clowns Party" Bat-Box and then it will be time to move onto another Crew or project, though one of those three models is 'Gaggy' and I am not looking forward to painting him, I may just skip him for now, we'll see. Now then,We recently played our first game of Bolt Action V2 at the Old Guard wargames club. We played a test game at around 600 points per side.Set in North Africa in 1942, the British forces of the 8th army took on Rommels Afrika korps. I wont go into too much detail here as I have forgotten what happened when etc, but.....The not great....The only problem we really encountered was the difficulty in taking on vehicles. It seemed that you really had to be very lucky to damage one, and we beside trying to take one out in close combat. I managed to destroy the SDKFZ251c in the end but it was a lucky shot and only after trying for turn after turn. My Bren carrier was a terror on the battlefield zipping about and machine gunning anyone foolish enough to be caught in its line of sight..... very frustrating for my opponent....The good stuff.Overall we really enjoyed the game, the dice activation meant that both players are constantly active and engaged in the game. The rules are simple enough to pick up fairly qui
