IntroductionPlaying a small 6mm WW2 game on a 2’x2’ table using my own rules converted to cards.RulesThese rules were designed for the 12x12 grid games and are very close to the same rules I playtested in 2018. I have been tweaking the rules just a little and decided that as an experiment I would convert the rules to cards rather than use dice. I was influenced by Buck Surdu's Combat Patrol. While I followed the testing of Combat Patrol on his blog, I do not have the game, nor have seen it either. I simply converted the results in my rules of combat, melee, spotting and morale into 72 cards. All unique results fit onto 36 cards but just doubled it for ease and greater randomness. They are printed on paper but if I like it I will glue them to some playing cards. No dice were rolled during the game.Sample card with results (from top to bottom) for combat, melee, activation/event, spotting, artillery, unit morale, force morale and then a row of various helpful rolls - 1d, dire
It's been a mad couple of weeks with very little time for gaming and painting all very frustrating.... I really need to put some focus on the hobby as the toys won't paint themselves. With a new job there has been very little time for painting or is it that the I just hate painting cavalry and the Haitian Colonial Cavalry have been sitting on the paint table for a couple of weeks now, I need a spark to get them going.Meanwhile the painting queue just got a little larger.I picked up a couple of packs of Havana Volunteers which gives me a couple of light Infantry units for the Spanish. I saw these advertised a few months ago from QH Miniatures and thought they might be worth a couple of packs. Thanks to Steve M for sending on my package. After a mix up the package from Spain went missing, but thankso Steve who tracked me down via a couple of club members and sent them on, so there are some benefits of gaming odd periods and blogging about it :-)Meanwhile last weekend saw a quick trip over to the M5 Living Hi
Ow boy, seems we are nearing entry 200 in this series slow and steadily...And it has been a rather modest week to be honest this time round.Past friday, I passed by the local Games Workshop to pick up the latest copy of White Dwarf, and expect the traditional 'flick through' review as a result tomorrow. And a small parcel fell in tha mailbox from eBay, Noshi be pleased as her Elven Spearmen are here to join the fray.A nice little loot as such

Wow no updates on this blog for a year+. Still gaming though real life does get in the way of games..The gaming group decide to get together again and get some GW 40k games in. With the recent release of new 40k Apocalypse it was a good time to take our armies out for some big battles.Scenario: Apocalyptic CarnageCrazyrat: Chaos 200+PLEngie: Blood Angel Strike force 330+PLSkanwy: Iyanden Warhost 300+PL We omitted the warzone portion as all of us are still learning the rules and just want to play a vanilla apocalypse game. Anyway we stop the game at end of turn 2 as it was getting late and the Lyanden will triumph eventually as Chaos and BA were withering each other down.IMO what I like about the new 40k Apoc are:very streamline game play, much faster and the system allow a player to not b
We've had relatives staying for the last couple of days, so I've only now been able to catch up with assembly of the Tumbling Dice 1/2400th scale Napoleonic ships. Here is the progress thus far, with six 74 gun third rates (ASN5) and a single 100 gun 1st rate (ASN3), although the latter will represent a single 110 gun three decker, probably the Terrible or the Républicain.I've decided that I'll use this lot as the basis of my French fleet c1798, so the next instalment will be four or five 80 gun 2nd rates (ASN4) and a couple of 120 (118) gun first rates (ASN2), before I move onto the frigates and unrated vessels. It's coming along nicely and I'm hoping to get the whole thing done by the end of next week, although I will have to some filler to the bases and undercoat them when I get back home.
A bit of variety now, with one of Malifaux's biggest models, The Fire Golem. This one is from the M2e Backdraft box set, which means I'm short of a couple of apparently so-so extra minions but I do instead have Saboteurs and Fitzsimmons as well (which are all in the painting queue as we speak). He wasn't the easiest model to paint as the flames go in all directions, meaning there isn't a clear orientation to allow you to start with pale white-ish flames and then shade it through to red and even sooty blackAs a result I wasn't really happy with him until I did several more layers and more drybrush-style highlights than I might normally do on a flaming model. The basic technique was to start with a series of very pale and thin yellow washes using watered down paint, and then start adding highlights in progressively darker oranges and even reds until I was happy with the overall look.Managing to pick out all of the bits of brazier holding him together was also not the easiest as the metalwork does rather blend into
It’s time for another GMG Review! Today I take a look at the Roleplaying companion for Modiphius’ Post Apocalyptic miniature game, Fallout: Wasteland Warfare. Check out the resources HERE: https://www.modiphius.com/fallout-downloads.html
Okay, I finished off five 28mm Wizkids figures as part of a commission. These will be the last for awhile, I think. There were bunch with various magical effects that I dealt with mainly through washes.Above we have blonde Jesus with his Windex web. Below is evil elf magician with Tang fire. Some kind of sword dude with blue spider lightening?Jesus with icicles.Angry blonde guy with bent mace and handful of blue goo.Lovely figures, fun to paint and happy to be done.Up next: Bruce and I finished off our LaSalle game, I've got some 20mm indian allies on the paint table, and I hope to run a game of Rebels and Patriots this week at the club.
Hi guysI bit of work done on the conversions, I've added a before pic to show what has been done, have decided to give him 2 fists and do a waist mounted gun like the Atlas, I'll be adding more rockets to the chest area, and another set of twin guns on the left forearm, as well as beefing out the fists and adding more details here and there, what do you think so far?
So, as I’m writing up 3 large product reviews. I want to quickly share with you our Facebook Group for Miniature Painters and Wargames Models. [...]The post FauxHammer Facebook Group for Miniature Painters and Wargames Models appeared first on FauxHammer.
I recently announced the cancellation of my subscription to Conquest, that has left me with some odd sized units. I'm a devoted son of the Lion and that just won't do for such loyal and noble warriors. One week later and I have four more warriors, completing two of my units to the full complement of ten models each. After the jump a quick note on how I'm going to be organising my hobby from now on.More after the jump
Painted this custom miniature from Heroforge a while back for a customer whose into Dungeon and Dragons. He is a half orc cleric as told by client. The miniature is metal with its base as well. Feels good with the weight as I recalled. The shield I managed to get a emblem of a dragon design painted as provided by client. It turned out looking very characterful with the miniature itself. If you are into custom miniature for your role playing game, check out heroforge!
