A handful of things rolling off the workbench as we roll into a long weekend her in Saskatchewan...First, some old metal Kasrkin troops [ainted more like modern Tempestus Scions (which effectively replaced the Kasrkin in 8th edition... and maybe 7th...?)I got these are part of the BIG IMPERIAL LOT I recently picked up, and, actually, most of these were already painted... and I didn't mind the paint job (it was well done and I thought was close enough to my own style that, with a bit of re-basing, would fit in well with my own minis). So that's all I've done is re-based these and finished ONE that was only partly painted. All the others were completely painted, but one was primed and the blue was painted and nothing else?! Weird that one out of the unit would be left unpainted!? So I tried to match the paint job on all the others... Can you tell which one it is?Necromunda barriers. I'm just quickly cranking these out to get them done. I'd considered adding graphite and stuff... but I just want to get
Demolition Team ShayalYou need something blown up? Something burnt down? Perhaps both?Demolition Team Shayal reporting for duty. With heavy flamers (and a lot of experience in using them in the jungles of Catachan) and Demolition Charges, Team Shayal can clear a path for you.Whilst they may have cut their teeth on burning and blowing up in the jungle, they are equally at home in the cityscape or the battlefield.
Having tarted up a few Tyranids a while back for Kill Team, I have decided to tart up the rest of my old 1990’s Tyranid mini-horde and get them into 40K 8th Edition. All I am doing is rebasing the models, touching up a bit of the very basic paint job and then inking the hell out of them. I have too many other projects on the go and really do not want to do a major repainting undertaking on the whole army. The rest of the Genestealers, Termagants and Hormagaunts did not take long to freshen up and they amke up the bulk of the horde. Fortunately there are only about six models that need completely painting and they will get a similar scheme to the rest so they sort of fit in… It does make me wonder how many games I played back then with unpainted models, something that I refuse to do these days. I only have one old Zoanthrope model so will be running it as a Neurothrope instead. As for this old Hive Tyrant, it is a bit small by todays standards and the model does not quite match the model profile
We did get in a few games in July....Friday, 5 July 2019On this first Friday of July our friend Laura came over for the evening and played Terraforming Mars with us. Finnegan even joined in!We played on the Hellas board and... there wasn't a lot of ON BOARD developments - compared to some of our games! I can't believe how few cities there were! Amanda didn't have a single one!I played Helion (Yellow) and just BARELY squeaked out a win in a very, VERY close game!! I took the Diversifier Milestone and the Magnate Prize (which I'd sponsored) and second place in the Space Baron prize with a total of 53 points.Laura was second with 52 points! She had been playing Tharsis Republic (Black) and had taken the Polar Explorer Milestone and was in a three-way tie for second in the Cultivator Prize along with Amanda and Finnegan. Keira had won the prize. In fact, I was the ONLY one who didn't get any points for the Cultivator prize!?Keira (Ecoline - Green) and Amanda (Phololog - Red) were tied for third with 50 points eac
Penal Legion The Imperial Guard is a tough place for anyone... woe betide you if you fall foul of the rules and regulations. Those who commit a crime that does not warrant immediate execution or petty punishment may find themselves assigned to a Penal sS You will be given the most basic of weapons and equipment and be expected to lead the assault from the front. If by some miracle you survive a mission (or ten) then you may have the opportunity for some redemption. More likely you will be just softening up the enemy and absorbing some of their ammunition.
Hi, all! A quick look at a quick paint job of a High King of my Knight House Teldor, marching for the Ministorum. I used the model of Rogue Trader Janus Draik from the Blackstone Fortress set. Can you identify the small changes I made on that mini? The first time that I made use of one of the new Contrast paints: Black Templar on the boots. Turned out very well I have to say. Leave a comment or reaction below…
Now then,My primaris chapter, the Luna Crusaders are in desperate battle once again. This time they take on the Treacherous Alpha Legion.Check out redtoofs blog for a battle report! Luna Crusaders vs Alpha LegionCheers,Stig.
A couple weeks ago I decided to help Finnegan get some of his miniatures painted. I was experimenting with coloured primers and washes as well as the new Contrast paints from Games Workshop. I ended up knocking off one of his Killa Kans in a evening - while working on a number of other things as well - and thought "Well this is easy, I'll show him how I did this on one of the other ones, while he paints the third... and boom - the unit will be done!"But I didn't get to that until a few weeks later...Boom! Unit of Killa Kans complete... So, I basically ended up painting two of these for him, and he painted one... but, whatevs, they're done and we can play with them... (Can you guess which two I painted and which one Finnegan painted!?)So I figured it was time we set up an Apocalypse game with his Orks!!All last week we kept saying we should play a game. We finally got a game set up, maybe Thursday, but didn't end up having time that day.... or... Friday... and by Saturday, well, I needed to put everything away
Another 40K car from the latest set of Ork releases: the Boomdakka Snazzwagon. Probably to use with some 28mm Gasland or else, still have to bring Speed Freeks to the table. Great model, in love with the vehicles range :) Been playing with Contrast paints again, growing on me.
Something Dirty! Not all the jobs are clean and precise. Sometimes you need someone to do a dirty job. Sometimes it takes some rules to be bent or broken to get the job done. Sometimes it takes some people who just don't care about the rules. Apellen Squad are happy to do that for you. Apellen Squad hail from Catachan. Most Catachan soldiers already have a healthy disregard for rules that come from high up in a command structure where the person giving the orders is not on the front line (or even on the planet). As such they are happy to do things their own way and get the job done using whatever is to hand and doing whatever it takes. Their gear is an eclectic mix that takes the best of what is to hand and mixes it up. No standard issue gear here or standard pattern lasguns.
and back to Necromunda...I finished up a Cawdor gang for Necromunda this week...The New MinisWell, newly painted... these are old Citadel metal minis for Necromunda. The more recent ones are all plastic now - and have quite different armaments! Luckily there are still rules for all (well, MOST) of these armaments - or something "close enough" that I should be able to do then. The whole Gang (with the six others I previously painted). Almost enough for TWO Gangs... I briefly considered it, but the decided, since I only have one Heavy, I'd probably best just keep them all together. If ever I got a handful more (Including another Heavy) I might split them up - repaint the fringes of their tabards different colours to identify which gang is which.House Cawdor is the stronghold of the Cult of Redemption on Necromunda. I didn't want to just do these guys in red and/or purple to match the Redemptionists... Somehow I came up with green...!?The leader of the gang; Willem Campbell - a dour firebrand who leads from the f
One of my oldest and favouritest gaming pals dropped me a line on Thursday or Friday and said he'd be in town on Saturday and wondered if I'd be able to play a game! All plans were cleared away as this was a moment I'd been looking forward to for, literally, a decade or more!I met Woody over thirty years ago when he took over management of The Wizard'd Corner - Saskatoon's first gaming store. He is actually responsible for my introduction to the world of Warhammer - through Warhammer Fantasy Battle - and got me seriously collecting and painting miniatures for massed battles. Oh, I had had miniature figurines before that, but they were mostly for role-playing. I'd actually also owned AD&D's Battlesystem - but had only ever played it once or twice - with counters...He had planned to run a campaign for Warhammer Fantasy Battle - each of us involved bought a huge sheet of hexagonal grid paper - I feel like it was 20"x24" with 3/4" hexes...? We were all to draw our own starting lands on that and the idea was a
Since I last updated this blog I've been chewing away at finishing up some projects that have languished on my painting table or in my bitz box. These are projects that I always meant to do, but got side-tracked from completing - I have to say that it feels really good to have these projects done.First up was a trip to Warhammer Age of Sigmar-land.These five Blood Warriors have been on my desk for an eternity, but now they areready to bring destruction to the foes of the Blood God for an eternity! These guysbring me to two ten-man units of Blood Warriors for the whole army.Staying in a fantasy theme, I decided to turn my paint brush to my Oldhammer High Elves. I've had a unit of Dragon Princes that I've been nattering away on for months - doing one model at a time - mostly because I just found painting them somewhat tedious. Its not a bang on the sculpts, I think I'm just coming to a conclusion that I really don't dig painting cavalry! These cats took way too long to get on the field, so I'm sure they will die
Hello! In today’s post I would like to present you a large pack of Assassins for the Warhammer 40,000. These are elite minis, posing a threat to all enemy commanders on the battle table. Full twelve of them is an absolutely unbridled manifestation of death and destruction As you can see, most of the models are on a heavily modified bases. To make them we used Woodland Scenics flocks and Paint Forge tufts. Below you can see a full gallery of photos from this project. Commission painting services – email@example.com or Messenger.
