7TV

On yer bike!

A quick post, but I know everyone out there is definitely on tenterhooks to see what I've done in the last couple of days. So here you are...Vrooom!It's a WW1 motorcycle messenger! This is another model I've had lying around for a long time, that I started painting while I was waiting for the 7TV Pulp box to arrive. It's part of a pack from Great War miniatures that I picked up years ago when I first started VBCW.Parp parp!I've deliberately not flocked the base in the hope it'll look like it's on a muddy road. I'm not really sure how well that's worked though, so I might give in and flock it later.Anyway.Here are some numbers! You'll notice that one of them has gone up slightly since last time. Huzzah!Acquired: 126Painted: 37I'm only 89 behind now! This is getting close now.

More Perishables!

I said last time that there would be another blog post about pulp models, since I approached the 7TV Pulp day by just painting anything vaguely appropriate I had lying around and then figuring out a cast later.Time to make good on that threat. I give you... the extended Perishables!Today's photography problems includevery poor lighting and a somewhat greasy lensIn order to spin this post out into something that seems vaguely worth writing, here are the models I've added...A saboteurPretty sure this chap was an Artizan Designs model, from some packs I got when I was first playing Bolt Action and using partisans. I never really had a use for these models before now, and having seen the 7TV Pulp rules... I still don't.This model pairs nicely with this one...A man with a plunger! The detonator bloke comes from the same pack, and feels like it might somehow be more useful in a game, but so far that hasn't come up.Moving swiftly on...Lovely boaterI also got this fella when I was building up the partisans and needed

28mm City Police from Crooked Dice

It's not easy, finding miniatures that will suit the style of the 1970s, and without Crooked Dice, it would be less easier still.  Submitted herein are pictures of painted, pistol armed police officers, in the livery of mid-70s Philadelphia, aka the Roundhouse Boys.Miniatures by Crooked DiceThese minis were purchased from Noble Knight Games, who stock a goodly amount of Crooked Dice miniatures. This particular batch were not quite up to the usual CD standards - two of the stances were a bit off, and the mould lines in the hard-to-reach areas were more pronounced than usual. Possibly the moulds are wearing out. That minor quibble aside, these are really brilliant miniatures. They are sculpted in shirt sleeves, without body armour (again, hard to find). They have old-style "walkee-talkee" radios. One figure is female, which is I don't think was the practise in the 70s, but let's run with it.These figures will be incorporated into a squad in my 7TV1 Disco Wars games. I've also ordered some police with shotgu

Introducing the Perishables!

Well, it's been three months since I last was organised enough to post anything here, but now I have something to push me to do it - a new cast for 7TV, to coincide with the arrival of 7TV Pulp!To pull this together, I raided my lead pile to find anything vaguely appropriate. I had the idea of creating a band of mercenaries in the mould of The Expendables, but set in the 1930's - so a variety of uniformed and non-uniformed cast members, but all with a military theme. I also got slightly excited at Partizan, and bought a pulp miniatures film crew for reasons that don't necessarily make sense.Once I had that, and a billboard kindly donated by Kieron, I was pretty much duty bound to make a scenic base to keep it all on. And thus, the Perishables were formed... All of this was kicked off by the announcement of the Wargames Illustrated 7TV day for this year, which was held last weekend at Wargames Foundry. To be honest, pulp isn't a genre that I've ever been particularly excited by. So it really was

7TV Zombie Apocalypse

Using a combination of the 7TV apocalypse rules and markers from the 7ombie TV game (thing Apocalypse 1st edition) I ran a scenario where 2 casts of survivors searched a country road pile up for supplies.A road well and truly blockedThe markers are zombie spawn points (rules taken from 7ombie TV)Our first group of survivors. A group formed from Welsh Rugby Union supporters, fanatically keen to ensure Rugby Union doesn't go the way of civilisation. At the other end of road fans of the Cornetto films and Tin Tin set off The film lovers disturb the first zombiesThe Rugby survivors advance cautiously.Zombies dispatched our heroes move on searching the vehicles as they goThe rugby fans attract attention but knock the zombie down, but got too close and got a does of radiation Both teams are rather handy with their guns which attracts zombies from the woodsThe rugby fans search thoroughly e.g. find nothing and keep rolling for something in the same vehicles The film fans start attracting alot of attent

V the Miniseries - Money, Lasers & Contracts #1

After the ambush at the pipeline Lydia Head of Security for the Visitors in Africa is visiting one of the local warlords and opponent of  "legs" to negotiate a contract to patrol and defend the pipeline. She has a substantial bribe and contracts guaranteeing a stake in the pipeline venture once peace returns to the region.Unfortunately Louis "Legs" Akimbo and his Militia has become aware of these negotiations and has spent some time preparing an ambush to stop them. They are particularly eager to get their hands on Lydia and her briefcase – they can use the money to hire more gunmen and the contracts will prove the Visitors are not to be trusted which will fuel even more resentment and jealousy between Zikinga's ever-feuding clans. The ambush involves pre-placed IEDs that destroy the Visitors vehicles and leaves them stranded in the middle of bush. Once the IEDs are detonated, the Warlord Charity Nsithlan and his men will head for home and offer no assistance to the Visitors – if there’s no bribe mo

Partizan -has my opinion of shows changed

Ive not been to a wargames show for a while and had no intention of going to any more until I purchased some bits off a wargames forum and the seller offered to post or meet at Partizan ,so I thought a visit to partizan might make a nice change .I had a look on the Partizan website forprice and times it turned out the stated price was wrong .  On arrival there seemed to be bit of a mess with parking and some heated comments were being made ,with my previous career of event management I know that if you want to organise parking you need to have traffic marshalls on site and there were none for the wargames show but there were some organising things for another show in a nearby  building . Entry was pretty quick and I recieved a free figure which is a nice female which will fit into  any victorian era game although she is actually a german revolutionary ..Once inside we move around the show fairly easily I stopped at the wargames illustrated stand with the intention to buy a couple of their figur

V the Mini-series - Welcome to Zikanga.......

Whilst the TV show concentrated on the US, the motherships appeared all around the globe and no part of the earth was untouched by the Visitor presence including the backwater that is Zinkanga.Louis "legs" Akimbo cared little for the visitor presence all he saw was another faction who were looking to step on his turf. The Visitors has started to widen their influence under key human individuals and were subject to Diana's mid control process called "conversion", which turned them into the visitors pawns. With senior leaders now under the control of the Visitors they inserted themselves amongst key organisations such as the UN and slowing brought them under their control.Bringing the Visitors into direct conflict with Legs. The UN and Visitors had set up an outpost in the heart of Leg's territory and the local peace was starting to interfere with his "tax" collecting operation.Recently the Visitors had installed a pipeline running across the country, he had blown it up only to find it piping water - very st

V The Original Miniseries - Crooked Dice.

These are the last ones honest....I know I should be painting more Haitians but after finishing the first batch of Alien Invaders I had the urge to swap a couple of heads and paint up some security troopers. With only 8 figures in the original release these adaptions should bolster the Visitor force to make them a worth putting on the tabletop.Putting a Shock Trooper Head on "John" gives me an extra commander and "Johns" head is a good fit on one of the troopers to give me another Trooper wearing sunglasses. I could have used the lizard heads supplied but you rarely show these in the show from the 80's.On the far right is a cap wearing engineer armed with a laser rifle.Crooked Dice do some spare heads wearing Sunglasses and whilst not true to the series are a good fit to act as proxy Security personnel. The full "Visitor" detachment - No Rodent is safe.I have enough now to put on a reasonable skirmish, with the promise of resistance in the future who knows where this will go.A close up of the Engineers, Shock
