Ciaran is in with his Adeptus Mechanicus to face my Space Wolves in a 2000pt Matched Play game!
Games Workshop starts into the new year with a new supplement for Adeptus Titanicus, Titandeath. Along the release of the book, you now have the chance to buy the weapon sprue from the Warlord Titan with Plasma Annihilator and Power Claw, and a Reaver Titan with Melta Cannon and Chainfist, that we're going to unbox […]
Xoxigar Secondus4.037.019.M42After a lengthy warp translation, the men and women of the 382nd Tallarn (Desert Raider) Regiment finally made it to the Xoxigar System. Other Guard regiments were in the System; the shattered remains of two Valhallan Regiments had taken up post on the frozen world of Xoxigar Prime - little action was expected there. The 222nd Guaiacan Commando Regiment was already in the thick of the fighting in the Jungles of Xoxigar Tertium. The Tallarn were earmarked for Xoxigar Secondus. There had been little fighting there, so far. They were being sent to bolster the planets PDF and Skitarii Legions and protect the vital installations of the forge world. The travel to the planet and shuttling dirtside took too long, but the troops of Tallarn were happy to stand on solid ground and see the sky - though the air wasn't much of an improvement...The 5th Company was stationed in the Southern Hemisphere, near vital promethium refining facilities and were set to patrolling the sprawling brownfield th
The final part of my Adeptus Titanicus coverage is this "double feature" of the Warlord Battle Titan, one variant with volcano cannons and one with plasma annihilator and power claw. The Warlord - currently - marks the heaviest of the available battle titans for Adeptus Titanicus, is only outclassed by the even larger Emperor Class […]
The second titan of the Adeptus Titanicus coverage is the Reaver Battle Titan, The Reaver counts as an medium class battle titan, almost twice as tall as a Warhound but still a lot leaner and smaller as a Warlord. Similar to the Warhound and Warlord, the Reaver has different produced patterns, but more dominantly different […]
A second, old Armorcast Warhound Titan arrived in the mail for me a week and a half ago. It's really all I've been working on since. By this past weekend I thought I'd settled on colours and had most of the green and purple painted...Then I decided the green was too dark after all...Not nearly enough contrast -and looked positively dull next to Pardus Purpura...And so I started again with MORE test bits and settled on a lighter colourAnd started all over again... mostly...I have to say I'm much happier with the lighter colour now.So this is Tigris Viridi. Commanded by Princeps Mozzer. The crew is rounded out by two Moderati; Moderati Joyce (Steersman) and Moderati Marr (Sensors, Communications, Weapons) and two Tech Priests Ro-Urk350 and Pom-Fret681.Tigris Viridi joins it's partner, Pardus Purpura in the Eritque Arcus Maniple of Legio Amare Feles.Pardus Purpura is commanded by Princeps Smythe. The crew is rounded out by two Moderati; Moderati Cooper (Steersman) and Moderati Gallup (Sensors, Communic
Let's begin with the Titans. The first review will cover the duo of Warhound Scout Titans, the smallest of the Imperial Titans. There are multiple patterns of the Warhound Titan, produced on Forge Worlds among others like Mars or the now destroyed Gryphonne IV. The here shown Warhound pattern is the Mars Pattern, depending on […]
Friday afternoon I dropped the kids off at a friends place for the afternoon. I thought rather than ride all the way home and ride ride back to pick them up, I could arrange to get in a few games at the Dragon's Den - which isn't very far from their friends place. I put out a request on the Hunters of the Warp group on Facebook and a Friendly fellow named Mark offered to play a few games with me.As Mark was planning to bring Adeptus Mechanicus I brought along my Genestealer and Chaos Kill Teams - along with a couple options for Kill Zones.GAME ONEThe First scenario we played was Take Prisoners in a Sector Mechanicus Kill Zone.It seemed an appropriate place to start - as he was playing Ad Mech. The Take Prisoners scenario was interesting and kind of made sense. A Tyrnaid bio-pod crashed on a Forge World and genestealers were sent out to bring back samples of the locals for breakdown and study of their biological components. The Adeptus Mechanicus, for their part, having noticed the landing on their aspen would
Shortly after picking up Kill Team back in July, I picked up a box of Adeptus Mechanicus Sicarians. Though the box says Sicarian Ruststalkers, they can also be built as Sicarian Infiltrators. This is great as they are both options for a Adepts Mechanicus Kill Team and I could buy one box and have a few of each as options to add to the Mechanicus Kill Team that came with the Core Box. Last night I finally finished up the last few Rust Stalkers and Infiltrators (I had finished one of the Infiltrators when I was working on the Skitarri)New Adeptus Mechanicus SicariansSicarian Infiltrator PrincepsSicarian InfiltratorSicarian RuststalkersMore recently I picked up the Tech Priest Dominus Mechanicus Commander set when Kill Team: Commanders came out and I've painted him up as a commander. I also happen to have a regular Tech Priest that my friend Paul gave me for my birthday in February - presumably to serve with my Imperial Guard regiments - but as they turned out to be an commander option for the Mechanicus Ki
Kill Team Commanders goes up for Pre-Order today and the Community team was nice enough to send along a copy of this expansion for me to check out! Add HQs to your Kill Team Battlefield in specially tailored missions that feature these Heroes and Villains.
Last night I finished up the last of the stuff I was planning to bring to the Kill Team game I am running at ToonCon this weekend.Adeptus Mechanicus Kill TeamOriginally I thought I might paint them the same as the ones I painted for John, but then I kind of liked the look of the way they painted them in the book, so I went with something similar to that. I had also considered doing them as Skitarii Vanguard (since John's left his Rangers here and I could make use of them anytime...), but then I decided to build them all just like the ones in the book - that have premade data cards and stuff...With the exception of the Sicarian Infiltrator lurking in the back, these all came in the Kill Team Coe Box.Dorox-0.4343 - Skitarii Vanguard Alpha - the Leader of the Kill TeamSek-XXVII Skitarii - Vanguard Gunner/Zealot Specialist (With Plasma Caliver), Kappic-Schoelendt-18.1 - Skitarii Ranger/Comms Specialist, and AR-99 Skitarii Vanguard/Scout Specialist.Mu-575 and Actus-1111 - Skitarii VanguardGryphonne-Reductus-089, D
Jason is back for another game in our Campaign, this time pitting the Space Wolves against the Adeptus Mechanicus in ‘Death in the Dark’ from the Astartes Kill Team expansion.
I'm officially on my second week of non-stop late nights at work, by which I mean I literally do not get out of the boarding house until 11pm after a 7am start. With the idea of a robot body having more and more appeal, we wrap up our analysis of the AdMech with some of my favourite models from Games Workshop: the Sicarians.SicariansThe Sicarian frame is not the sturdiest in the world, but hits hard and fast. It’s no tank, and it shouldn’t be fielded as such, more an aggressive and panic inducing model. The common attributes of the Sicarian models are as follows:Bionics: 6+ invulnerable save2 WoundsLightning quick 8-inch movementStrength 4They are tougher and faster than your Skitarii units, and at first blush are geared for all out assault. Toughness 3 is not quite the detriment it was in older editions of 40K. It’s still relatively weak, but you’ll be caught by 2+ To Wound rolls less often in Kill Team than in 7th or older.Strength 4 alongside their wargear options puts them well above other units in the AdM
Term has hit surprisingly hard this year, and it looks like I will working for three weeks straight without a day off again. I'm also on the late night shift for three quarters of that, so please forgive any disruption to the post schedule. As a scientitst and geek I should be more into the Adeptus Mechancus than I am. I like the aesthetics of most of the models, but then the fluff pulls me right out of actually purchasing models. I'm not a fan of religious dogma, no matter how many 1s or 0s make up the hymns. It grates against my teacher's ethics to have unthinking discipline, and I find the idea of electronically enforced servitude utterly repellent. But I really like the idea of Skitarii as more free thinking volunteers, out to better mankind's understanding of the universe by defending the engineers and architects who work for it. So I bend the fluff a little in my end to make it work for me. But let's talk about crunch instead. The TroopsIn discussing the value of Skitarii, or at least the regular soldiers,
NOVA was this last weekend and man was it a BLAST. It is definitely a smooth run operation and I plan on going back again for a third time next year. Last year I took my all Death Rider Army to the NOVA GT and Trios. This year I intended to do the Trios again, but due to team mate issues, I instead went to DC and did the tourist thing on the day of the trios. This is one of the untold bonuses of NOVA, you are practically in Washington, and taking an uber or the Metro to the museums/monuments is easily done and worth it if you are not from the area. But after a day of site seeing I got to jump into the NOVA Narrative! Check out their mission pack here. Some really fun and cool missions you should try at home (especially Shuttle Crash and Refinery IMO).My 2500 point army. All my armies would be made from this!I had started this article a few days ago, but now I feel I must temper my enthusiasm before I launch into the review.Edit: I leave the following 2 paragraphs for completions sake, but I wa
