Over the last 50 years (giver or take) one of the most commonly used alien archetypes are Cat-people, call them Alslan (Traveller), Kilrathi (Wing Commander) or Kzinti from both novels and (Star Trek) and a host of others. They all have several traits in common with Earth felines besidestheir obvious resemblance. The Pride/Clan social structure seems to be themost common form of government with a monarch of some type at the topbut he/she is still very much subject to how the clan leaders feel . They are usually quite xenophobic and territorial. Their technology is usually on par with humanity with some unique culturally old tech weapons held on to, justbecause. This of course makes them interesting and fun to run. They alsoin many cases, (perhaps due to their clan structure) quite often go rouge either as an individual or up to an entire clan. Often this can be as a means of credible deniability for their central government or they just got pissed off
The length of this Second World War was disastrous and deadly. 60% of the world's population passed due to lack of food and movement thereof. Chemical weapons and the atomic tactical bombs killed civilian and military outright and the long term results are being felt even today. The petty and those not so petty gods put both man and animal to the torch. They all had their reasons. Sport seemed the favorite. Technological death by machine worked as a modern day scythe on life. When the war in Berlin was about to turn against the Russians, again, after three near misses already...the space people arrived. They took the Russian army side and took what they wanted (after the fall) without any argument from their fearful erstwhile allies (the Russians). German captives/POW's disappeared never to be seen again. The space ships and men also went with the captives. Here we have a photo from PRAVDA showing the strange-fearsome-momentary ally and a captive.

WHO ARE THE IKWEN?If you are new to the Ikwen or its been a while, let me introduce you to a race that is fighting for its own freedom and the preservation of its species. Envisioned as a range of miniatures to represent one side of an asymmetric conflict the Ikwen are intended to be pitted against any other species or faction 15mm players might have in their collections. To this end, the miniatures are depicted with mostly mid-tech weaponry, the sort that might be cobbled together or acquired in great numbers from sources outside the conflict much in the same way that we see the AK-47 used in modern day warfare. I have worked hard to make sure the Ikwen show some sort of specific culture in their sculpts, even if that is just the minimal cloths they wear between their legs and the sorts of gear they carry. The Ikwen are a miniatures range, designed to tell a story. IKWEN
Here is the complete Prawn force done by Mr. McGee, consisting of regular, power armored, and assault mechs from GZGs Crusties line .
In the near future, the capital of Sweden has turned into a post-apocalyptic wasteland. We join four soldiers on a routine mission in ‘Zone 3’, with the assignment to investigate an old surveillance tower that just went offline. That’s the setting in first-time director Andrée Wallin’s short film, who also wrote and production designed it. Produced by Claire Fleming, the film was shot in London with an international cast, while all exteriors were shot in Stockholm.
Some great art work!Warp Core Cafe
.....the Majoidea! My mate from England (no not Ray) asked me to paint a few things, one of those things was this 28mm Aliens Colonial Marine APC from Prodos Games, my mate said it was a bastard to put together, mold lines, parts not fitting together etc..............and don't get me started on the transaxle!!!!!!!He supplied the paint and the chaos began.......The crab like aliens are from Khurasan and the name actually came from an actual crab species I liked the name of......but also known as the Crabby 8!These were part of a submission to the ongoing challenge but still currently behind Ray"Budgie Smuggler" Rousell!
......for fighting an alien invasion or fighting among the stars!A mixture of White Dragon Miniatures, Khurasan and GZG, these are the forces being designed to meet the alien threat to earth (although I do think aliens lock their doors when they go past) or to take and help humanity to the stars!A SEAL team with synthetics....... Recon Mechs........Fiddler Heavy Mech........They work alongside modern forces and armour for the time being but not the only nation to build their near future forces.....The Russians are coming!

I have had a bit of an avalanche of stuff arriving in the post, much to the annoyance of SWMBO, who has now banned me from ordering anything more until after Xmas. I pointed out that I haven't actually bought that much and haven't spent much either, but to no avail. Anyway, I have more than enough stuff already to get on with the Sandbox Skirmish project amongst other things, so it's not a problem. I also have lots of other projects in the pipeline for which I am fully equipped, so 'Bah Humbug' to her indoors! (just don't tell her I said that).First up, the road sections and terrain templates arrived today from Supreme Littleness Designs. The road pieces will take no time at all to texture and paint, so that I can have a whole network of dirt tracks for the 15mm armoured vehicles to patrol along, with some of the templates possibly being used for stream sections or dry ditches as well, if I have enough. I also now have a 15mm version of the desert ruins that SLD produce in 28mm, albeit actually an 18/20
