Back to the game. Powrót do gry.

The work is in progress again!Hello! I'm back. Thank you for all your patience. The nightmare is over and all have been moved. We are finally settled and what is most important I'm back to painting too! Today a few games we had the past month and I had no time to post reports here. Of course, you will get a second report from Big Waterloo game, but I will do it in a separate post. Witam! Jestem z powrotem. Rome vs Greece. Rzym przeciw Grecji.

Last Thursday we had big To the Strongest game. This time Greece (Michael and Peter) faced Roman forces (Alasdair, Campbell and myself).W ostatni czwartek mieliśmy dużą grę z zasadami To the Strongest. Tym razem Grecja (Michael i Peter) stanęli naprzeciw Rzymowi (Alasdair, Campbell i ja).SCENARIO/SCENARIUSZ: Peter MearnsUMPIRING/PROWADZENIE GRY: Peter Mearns, Bartek ŻyndaSCENERY/SCENERIA: SESWCFIGURES & MODELS/FIGURKI I MODELE: Peter Mearns, Bartek Żynda, Campbell Hardie, Michael SchneiderMichael's GreeksPeter's GreeksCampbell and Alasdair RomansBart's RomansOur game as always divided into two separate clashes. In the first, Peter faced Campbell and Alasdair. After some initial successes, Peter managed to flank Roman cavalry, but then the brave Roman marines broke the first falangist unit and create a massive gap in Greek lines. Soon after that more Greek unit gets broken and in very short time whole Peter's army lost its morale and disappear from the battlefield. In the meantime, Mich

To the Strongest! The Ancient Mischmasch. To the Strongest! Starożytny miszmasz.

Our last Thursday game was set up for fun. Most of us have an Ancient collections, but for different period. Few weeks Peter bring an idea to have the game with all of them. That game has been postponed several times and finally we had it on our table. Initially we set up the game for 130 points with 3 command each, but on the table with the size of 8'x4' it would be to crowded, as finally we had 6 armies ready to play. I gave the idea to limit that forces to 100 points with 2 commands and that how it stayed. The rules used for that game was To the Strongest! Większość z nas posiada kolekcje figurek do starożytności, jednak do różnych okresów.

To be honest, this period is not my Roman period (my army is a little older period) and had some problems with tactic at the b

Fun With Flags

I seem to be doing a lot with flags at the moment. I've currently working on a couple of War of the Roses command elements, complete with multiple flags, but they aren't quite ready yet. As a change of pace I've been painting some Roundway (yes them again) medieval Russians for use as mercenaries for my Polish & Lithuanian armies.  For extra variety I decided to add paper lance pennons: As

Onomatopoeia, 423 BC.

Last Thursday I was invited to the Hail Caesar game. Michael S. just painted new armies and we were going to test them on the table. As the counterpart came Mike with his Ancient Greek collection.  So we had Athenians vs Spartans clash. For this game Michael came up with some house rules we were also going to test.W ostatni czwartek zostałem zaproszony do gry z zasadami Hail Caesar. New Roman Generals. Nowi rzymscy generałowie.

When I looked at the size of my Roman army, I have noticed that there is not enough generals. So far I had one senior and two junior, but the size required two more junior. I decided to use the Warlord sets and mix them, so I got extra one mounted and one foot commander. Now my Roman army is fully fitted for the incoming battles.

Aetius, Owen & Dracula – Blandford Warriors Episodes 10, 11 & 12

It’s the end of the line for the Blandford Warriors!  All twelve in this limited series of classic 1988 Citadel Miniatures are now painted and standing alongside each other in the cabinet, jostling for position of most dramatic medieval warlord. Left to right: Flavius Aetius, Owen of Wales and Vlad Dracula. The final triumverate are spread across a thousand years of European history.  Let’s take a look at them each in turn. Flavius Aetius Chances are you’ve not heard of Aetius, but you’ll have heard of his most famous opponent – Attila the Hun.  Aetius and Attila clashed at the Battle of the Catalaunian Plains in AD451 – one of the greatest bloodsheds as the Western Roman Empire crumbled under the weight of barbarian invaders.  Aetius was supreme commander of all military forces in the west, and crushed the Huns, stopping their advance into Gaul, and ultimately breaking Atilla’s tribal empire – earning him a place in history as the last of the great Romans. Flavius Aetius and
