Kuromukuro

Now streaming on Netflix, it was time for me to enjoy another mecha anime, after the rather bland series I was watching lately. That`s what you get with ten random series of course, no idea how they would turn out...So here we have a 26 episode mecha anime featuring a time-displaced samurai battling in a Black Relic aka the mech versus an invasion of planet subjugating aliens... yeah, that sounds right up my alley.About 450 years prior to the present, an extraterrestrial force called Efy Dolgh invades Earth; the people of Sengoku era Japan dub their mecha and robotic drones as oni. The Washiba Clan falls victim to them, but clan heir Yukihime and her samurai retainer Kennosuke Tokisada Ouma fight back with a stolen Efy Dolgh mecha, which they dub the "Black Relic" (黒骸 Kuromukuro). They succeed in vanquishing their foes, but when the Black Relic is caught in an enemy explosion, Yukihime disappears. Then, 60 years ago, the Black Relic is unearthed during the construction of the Kurobe Dam. In the present day,

My Hero Academia season 2

A personal favorite of Noshi, I benched the first season a while ago to have a go with her at s2, which she had already seen halfway. And while I thought the first one to be "okay", I quite liked the second one.And that second half themesong is just awesome btw...This season encompasses three big arcs in it's storyline, being at first a yearly sports tournament where the students have to overcome various hindrances, and each other. In the second arc, they are all on internship with pro-heroes, and while Midoriya learns how to control the One for All, Iida faces against Stain, the notorious hero killer. The final arc of the season takes the final exams of the class in, as the students get paired to face off against one of their teachers, being forced to overcome their weaknesses. It was as I started with a very joy to watch, and Midoriya is, to quote Noshi, "such an adorable character".Now onwards to the next season, because this stuff if surely better then the overload of Marvel and DC we have been facing the pas

Occultic; Nine

Another finished anime of my "10 totally random picked series for this year) and alas, another rather disappointing experience.Even though at MAL it comes off at the moment at a good 7.04, and it had his hilarious moments, I just couldn't "grasp" the series and it's targets in storylines.A blog disproving the supernatural, co-run by NEET teenager Yuuta Gamon and his enthusiastic best friend Ryouka Narusawa, becomes the catalyst that would bring together a group of people who supposedly have nothing to do with each other. These individuals include high school fortune teller Miyuu Aikawa, who joins Yuuta to work on the blog; realist Sarai Hashigami, who is stunned when tragedy strikes his family; doujin artist Ririka Nishizono, who has an uncanny ability to predict the future with her art; black magic practitioner and local curse expert Aria Kurenaino and her ghostly friend; Shun Moritsuka, a seemingly childish otaku detective; and reporter Touko Sumikaze. As this unlikely group, bound only by the string

Gundam Build Divers

The third series detailing the hobby of GunPla building, I was hoping it would be as fun and light as the first two series. Now, hitching on the hype of being "in" videogames, Divers now follows a team of builders who immerse themselves in a sort of MMO with GunPla suits for quests.Plot (from Wikipedia)In the near future, where the Gundam franchise is at its peak and the popularity of Gunpla is soaring to new heights, a new Virtual Reality Massive Multiplayer Online (VRMMO) Game called "Gunpla Battle Nexus Online" (GBN) is made. In Gunpla Battle Nexus Online, players can upload themselves and their Gunpla online through the virtual space and battle with players from across the world. In the game itself, the player assumes the role of a Gunpla Diver, and each year a special tournament called "Gunpla Force Battle Tournament" is held to prove who is the best Gunpla Diver. The story revolves around Riku Mikami, a 14-year old junior high school student and an admirer of famous Gunpla Diver Kyoya Kujo. He

Tokyo Ghoul

The next series off me and Noshi's "to watch" list, this aired originally back in 2014.Labelled a horror series, it is indeed "a bit" (pun intended) on the bloody side hehehe...Plot (from MAL)Tokyo has become a cruel and merciless city—a place where vicious creatures called “ghouls” exist alongside humans. The citizens of this once great metropolis live in constant fear of these bloodthirsty savages and their thirst for human flesh. However, the greatest threat these ghouls pose is their dangerous ability to masquerade as humans and blend in with society.Based on the best-selling supernatural horror manga by Sui Ishida, Tokyo Ghoul follows Ken Kaneki, a shy, bookish college student, who is instantly drawn to Rize Kamishiro, an avid reader like himself. However, Rize is not exactly who she seems, and this unfortunate meeting pushes Kaneki into the dark depths of the ghouls' inhuman world. In a twist of fate, Kaneki is saved by the enigmatic waitress Touka Kirishima, and thus begins his new, secret li

Kiznaiver

Part of my "10 randomly picked anime's", Kiznaiver aired in 2016.Consisting of 12 episodes, it contained a mix of drama and romance... and not really my sort of series I`d pick normally.Plot (from MAL)Katsuhira Agata is a quiet and reserved teenage boy whose sense of pain has all but vanished. His friend, Chidori Takashiro, can only faintly remember the days before Katsuhira had undergone this profound change. Now, his muffled and complacent demeanor make Katsuhira a constant target for bullies, who exploit him for egregious sums of money. But their fists only just manage to make him blink, as even emotions are far from his grasp. However, one day Katsuhira, Chidori, and four other teenagers are abducted and forced to join the Kizuna System as official "Kiznaivers." Those taking part are connected through pain: if one member is injured, the others will feel an equal amount of agony. These individuals must become the lab rats and scapegoats of an incomplete system designed with world peace in mind. W

Masou Gakuen HxH

Another one of my 10 random anime picks, this 12 episode series falls in the action / comedy / harem style of seriesSo a series about a guy who must arouse girls in order to improve their fighting powers... roooight...PlotHida Kizuna possesses the HHG (Heart Hybrid Gear) ability, but it is not strong enough to make him particularly important. His older sister calls him to transfer to a strategic defense school, where many of the students (many of which are large-breasted girls) use their HHG abilities to fight invaders from another world while wearing extremely skimpy pilot outfits. Kizuna’s fighting ability doesn’t measure up, but his sister has another plan—apparently having erotic experiences with Kizuna will allow the girls to replenish their energy or power-up. It looks like his new school life is going to be full of embarrassmentWhat I liked about it* Oppai, oppai, oppai!!! What I didn`t like about it* well, I guess the like says it actually.  It`s so full of fan service, it even goes as fa

Dies Irae

The latest anime I watched, numbering 11 episodes (well, 12, it has an epsiode 0 prelude) this year, Dies Irae was... special.I mean, it features Nazi germany, occult powers and a girl born under a guillotine.  Sounds weird and confusing?  Yep, that was the anime as well...Plot (from MAL)On May 1, 1945 in Berlin, as the Red Army raises the Soviet flag over the Reichskanzlei, a group of Nazi officers conduct a ritual. For them, the slaughter in the city is nothing but the perfect ritual sacrifice in order to bring back the Order of the 13 Lances, a group of supermen whose coming would bring the world's destruction. Years later, no one knows if this group of officers succeeded, or whether they lived or died. Few know of their existence, and even those who knew began to pass away as the decades passed. Now in December in the present day in Suwahara City, Ren Fujii spends his days at the hospital. It has been two months since the incident that brought him to the hospital: a fight with his friend
