Batman Miniature Game

Weekly Chronicle 2019 #42

This past week was not actually bad for me, a pickup from the previous month.  Models were painted and games were played, so that's a plus.First I was able to paint up some new models for Warhammer 40000 with the 'Eliminators' for my Black Templars army and began assembling my 'Redemptor Dreadnought', though he is taking longer than expected and getting him painted this week may be tough. Then this past weekend, my son and I were able to get in 3 games.  2 games of Batman Miniature Game, a 350 Rep and a 250 Rep practice games for the Renegade Open where we played a time game for both (for the practice) on Saturday.  You do not get many Turns in and really need to take advantage of the first 2 Turns, the first game at 350 Rep, my Joker crew had lost, but the second game at 250 Rep, they managed to pull out a win.On Sunday, we broke out our Warhammer 40000 armies and I played my first game of 8th Edition with 1000 points.  I knew this first game was going to take us a lot of time (as we were

It still was a pretty slow week, but as I mentioned in yesterday's post, this past weekend was the 2019 Michigan GT and I was hosting the Guild Ball event on Saturday, so nothing was painted this week, nor any games played for myself. That will change this weekend and my son and I have a weekend of gaming planned.  Originally this coming weekend we were going to attend the Guild Ball US Eastern Nationals in Chicago, but plans had to change and we will not be attending.  Since my son had already requested the weekend off, we are going to take advantage of it and game at home. The Renegade Open is next month and I still have to finalize my lists for the event, after this weekend I should have a better understanding of what I want to play.  Originally my plan was to play 'Joker' in Friday's 250 Rep event, and 'League of Assassins' in Saturday's 350 Rep main event.  With the lack of playing time recently, I think I need to decide on one crew and play that crew for both events.  This way the

Well at least I was able to get in one game of Guild Ball this past weekend (on Saturday).  I found out my son will be off work next Saturday for the Michigan GT, so we played a game to shake off some of the rest.  For the first time ever I tried to pay with the Alchemist's Guild, that was probably a mistake since I clocked out in Turn 2 and probably did not give much practice to my opponent.  I did manage to score a goal with 'Kami', but my dice were really terrible and the failed dice rolls then cost me a lot of time trying to think what I was going to be doing next.It has been a slump for the past month and half, playing and painting....having the Michigan GT this weekend is giving me the itch to play more Guild Ball, and I know I still need to get games of BMG in to prepare for the Renegade Open next month. My final quarter for painting also started last week and it has not been looking to good an I am not sure when I will break out of that groove, usually a convention gets me motivated to p

Right about now I am walking onto our Disney Cruise boat, so not much is getting done this week, nor much was done last week.  We did manage to get in a game of Batman Miniature Game on Friday night to start shaking off some of the rust, and I realized again how much I hate 'Gordon' for The Brave and the Bold.  Luckily I decided to strike at him instead of 'Batman' and that really changed the game for me and came back for the win.Maybe if I have some alone time sitting on the deck of the cruise ship, I'll work on a list for my painting queue for when I get back.Models Completed: 0Games Played: 1

Weekly Chronicle 2019 #36

It is already a real busy Monday morning "real" work wise, so just a quick Weekly Chronicle.I was amazed to actually finish painting 3 models last week, the 2 Harvey Dents and Talia Al Ghul, I was not planning on any, as it looks like for this week and next.I was able to get in one game on Saturday, a 250 Rep BMG game, it was good to start shaking the rest back off.  Hopefully I will be able to get in at least one more this Friday or Saturday, I need a lot of practice before the Renegade Open in November.Models Completed: 3Games Played: 1

BMG: Two-Face (Dark Knight Harvey Dent) [Joker]

Today is the counter-part to yesterday's 'White Knight' model, the better half of Harvey Dent, it is 'Two-Face' from Dark Knight.  Unlike 'Two-Face' for my Organized Crime, this version is affiliated with the Joker Crew. This is probably the last model for the week as I did not get anything new prepped for the week and will not have much time to paint this weekend, nor the next two weeks, so it looks like September may be a slim month. Two-FaceTwo-FacePainting Points: 1

BMG: Talia Al Ghul (Comic) [LoA]

I finally have gotten around to some painting this week, with being out most of last weekend at NOVA Open, I had to get the groove going again to get motivated.  I was one model shy of completing all of my League of Assassins, so I decided to finish that model first. Talia Al GhulTalia AL GhulPainting Points: 1

Weekly Chronicle 2019 #34 (Week of NOVA Open 2019)

Post #285 for 2019, what does that mean? In the 10 years I have been writing this blog, 285 posts in one year sets a new record for me (last year was 284, previously it was tough to hit 200).  There may not be that mean blog readers anymore, but for me, the blog keeps me motivated in the hobby and a good diary of the models/games I have completed and played.  With 4 full months left in the year, there is plenty more reading to come.First, lets start off with our quick usual weekly recap, this past week was not the greatest, but at least items did get completed and a game was played.  I managed to complete my Limited Edition 'Shank' and 'Tenderiser' for my Butcher's Guild which can be played for the Cook's Guild, and we did manage to get in a practice game of Guild Ball of Friday night (which I lost to the clock to again).  I was hoping for another practice game yesterday, but that did not happen and I will have to use Thursday at NOVA Open as my practice day.On the drive to DC and back, I

Weekly Chronicle 2019 #33

Week #33 for the year was a little slow on the painting front (2 models) and average for gaming (2 games).Real work has been busy this month so painting has slowed just a bit, but I still managed to get 2 models completed for Batman Miniature Game, 'The Merciless', and 'The Red Death'.  I think once I get back from NOVA Open in two weeks, I will take a look at what we have fr BMG and work on my Painting Queue for them and prioritize what I want to paint.  I still have a mix of Guild Ball models I would like to get completed so those will be done in between to break up the repetition of painting BMG.For gaming this past week, we got in another practice game of X-Wing to get ready for NOVA Open (and I am STILL undecided on my list that I am playing).  The last 2 lists I tried both netted me a victory.  Now it is a matter do I want to play Rebels or Scum.Yesterday afternoon we also finally gotten in a practice game of Guild Ball, it has been awhile since we last played (early July) and we wer

BMG: The Red Death (Bruce Wayne) [Unknown]

When I finished 'The Merciless' the other day, I was not sure if I would be able to get around t get another model painted this week, well yesterday I had some spare time (after watching the Guild Ball English National Championships on YouTube) and decided to work on 'The Red Death' since I already had the blister pack sitting on my painting table.Unfortunately the tips of his Bat ears were broken off in the packaging and had to make do with what was there.Honestly I am not sure how much table time this model will get, but he is marked as completed. The Red DeathThe Red DeathPainting Points: 1

BMG: The Merciless (Bruce Wayne) [Unknown]

Well I did manage to get a model painted this week (not sure if there will be more, but we'll see).  On Monday afternoon one of my shipments arrived of more BMG models, yes more!  In this shipment was a blister of the "Dark Knights", I especially wanted this pack for 'Merciless', so of course I had to open the pack up and get to work on this model.  I was cautious on how I wanted his blue metal armor and had some ideas in my head, and after several test colors on my test model, I came up with a solution.  I decided to mix blue with silver metallic and then do a blue wash.  I am actually quite happy on how he turned out.  One thing to note is the base, Knight Models shipped me all 30mm bases and this model is supposed to be on a 40mm, so I had to dig out one of my spare WM/H bases.  It will be interesting to try out this model with the possibility of doing 12 blood. The MercilessThe MercilessPainting Points: 2

Weekly Chronicle 2019 #32

So Week #32 was another average week for me regarding painting and gaming.  5 models were completed last week (2 for Guild Ball and 3 for Batman Miniature Game) and I was able to get in 2 more practice games of X-Wing for the upcoming NOVA Open.I played a X-Wing list that was really happy with last night, but I think I have 1 more list that I would like to try out before I make any decisions.  If I do not get a chance tonight (more than likely not with next section of news) then hopefully this Thursday night. That now leaves with the big news coming from Steamforged Games later today regarding the new errata for Guild Ball coming out.  More than likely I will be spending my evening getting all the cards ready for printing, and from the SFG blog post, it sounds like there will be a lot of changes.Once those changes get released, my son and I will need to get a few practice games of GB also before we leave for NOVA, it has been awhile since we last played and need to get refreshed again.I am not s

BMG: Black Orchid (Susan Linden) [BatB]

The final model from the "Justice League Dark" blister is up next and that is 'Black Orchid' (Susan Linden).  This was more of a "let's just get it done" model for me so that way the blister pack can be completed.  I think at 70 Rep, there are probably a lot better Free Agents available for The Brave and the Bold to select over 'Black Orchid'. Black OrchidBlack OrchidPainting Points: 1
