Skorne Collection 2018

Points Total: 658Models Total: 174Ah, the penultimate collection.I love the look of skorne's stone warriors and I love the concept of hoksune and the book featuring Makeda.Tortured elephant titans? Awesome. Why dont I ever play them? They're not trolls. But with their latest update, Makeda and the Exalted Court feels like she can play like Madrak2 used to, and I am still sorely tempted to try her out.Given unlimited skill I'd maybe figure out how to sculpt an entire custom troll army on 30mm bases to play as skorne.

Retribution of Scyrah Collection 2018

498 points134 modelsA few things to note here.I keep meaning to beef up my Retribution warjack game with Hemera and such, but never get around to painting the models. In addition, the Dawnguard battle-engine dropped last year. A battle-engine I couldn't justify purchasing until I've caught up painting stuff that I can actually pass off as terrain. I did have to deal with like three of the damn things at the ATC, though. I probably won't prioritize painting retribution in the next year. I have Goreshade4, but there aren't many large pieces I want to paint (aside from the Dawnguard battle-engine whose name escapes me now). If I find them, I will probably get the Sword-dudes because they are as anime as all getout, but my painting queue is possibly occupied for the next few months and I can't really think about building up for a faction I won't even put on the table.

Protectorate of Menoth Collection 2018

My Menoth collection1300 points345 modelsThe scrap stuff in front of them is me practicing deployments with my Crucible Guard and feeling too lazy to take them out of the shot. Things I don't have for my Menoth collection yet are the Revelator, Exemplar Officers for all my units (I only have one), the Deliverer Solo or whatever he is aaaaannnndd...I think that's it?They were my first army all those years ago.Looking forward  to adding the Initiates to this table layout and maybe a Revelator if I can get an unassembled kit on discount. Might even go for a second Judicator. I don't know. Go crazy.

Mercenaries Collection 2018

277 Models899 pointsI wasn't originally a person who bought heavily into mercenaries in Warmachine's first edition. A lot of the push for mercenaries was that in the first expansion anthology of the game, Warmachine: Escalation, they released Warcasters who could work with the four starting factions or play as a faction all on their own.Up until that point Mercenaries were just a few solos and maybe a single unit (Boomhowler, I think). Introducing Warcasters was a bold move at expanding the size of the game. And you would have to expand the size of the game at the time, as the scenarios in the book called for two warcaster games. That never really stuck though.Instead, what happened was I saw a pirate model later on with a handcannon coming out of his sleeve and the name of the gun was Ace.So I bought into pirates, which then grew into buying a bunch of the solos and whatnot I never had before like Eiryss.Eventually I bought into a Rhulic collection that I used to track how long it would take me to paint a thre

Khador Collection 2018

321 models1269 pointsIn the future I'll probably split my khador collection and track them by color scheme, but really couldn't do it this time. As you can see there's quite a lot of it in each paint scheme, but I've settled on one for all future models.I started with "Home Depot orange" as a former friend liked to call it. (Kidding, still a friend, just haven't heard from him in a while), then worked my way over to a white paint scheme with orange khador symbols. Finally I started doing the Russian green thing to represent the 5th border legion while still retaining the orange anvils.Obvious gaps:There are models I still want to have painted in green, like my demo corps. I have orange ones and white ones, but I painted draganavich in green and would like for him to color match.Still no Viktor. I almost scored a free colossal kit at wmw but someone figured out I was looking at the wrong prize pool.Painting a second chariot, so that's unnecessary for any buy list. And then theres the issue of my drakhun being s

Cryx Collection 2018

534 points132 modelsCryx has some of my favorite display level pieces like the floating half pirate ship piloted and crewed by Satyxis and souls (skarre3), undead dragon thing mounted by an undead war witch who's the twin sister of a time lord (deneghra3), angry warjack with skulls that eventually turn any warjack into itself (deathjack). And I dont even have the new death jack painted yet. That guy is beautiful. What's missing is an actual desire to play with them. I was quite fond of skeleton with a sword (lich lord venethrax), but I didnt want to play.My original cryx collection was picked up because I wanted to deliver stalkers with skarre1...but that was back in mk1.In fact, I still have a second wraith engine I wanted to paint as I have many of the pieces needed for a skarre1 dark host army.I think my future goals will be to paint my current stuff, and look to see what else I need. The newer skarre1 model might get me to paint things up, and I did enjoy painting the scharde pirates (complete with moana's

Collection: Crucible Guard

Here's a collection more modest than my previous one.Crucible Guard, 236 points, 50 models.I have stuff in the pipe now that should increase that by a fair amount: two Infantry units, Eira MacKay, Gearhart, a Railless Interceptor, second unit of Rocketmen, Trancers and Aces.  But for now I'm left with a couple buildable lists. The final look will have three huge bases (Railless, Vulcan, MacKay), maybe 1 or 2 more heavies (I really wish I'd built at least one more Vindicator), and more visible smoke trails.

Cygnar Collection 2018

Last week I took out every Cygnar model I had for a group photo shoot, and this is what it amounted to:821 points196 modelsMSRP: ???I'm joking about that last item. My spreadsheet automatically calculates MSRP for me, but it's generally a number I'm not willing to share. It's interesting seeing where the gaps in my collection are and thinking about why they exist (or why the models DON'T exist in my collection). It's often a combination of overlooking the model, breaking parts on the model and therefore never painting it (doesn't count as collection for me), and just not wanting to buy, paint, or look at a model. Most notably missing :Hurricane (primed, waiting for paint)Stryker3 (keep breaking pieces. originally shipped with two left sides and waited for replacement. Broke off his head in the meantime).Haley3 (missing arms and heads from poor handling)Siege2 (gave the one I bought away as a present, never replaced it)Trencher Express Team (TREACHEROUS SCUM)Trencher Long Gunners (Didn't realize what was going o

Current Circle Orboros Collection: 871 points, 174 models

MSRP: *above top secret*My Circle Orboros collection has some notable gaps and a few odd surpluses. I did buy both old Megalith and new Megalith and old Ghettorix and new Ghettorix. I have two Baldur Stonecleavers because of the paint job and the resculpt. However, I am missing several key models. All the new Tharn stuff. That should go without saying. I intend to buy those at the shop, especially Iona, Brighid and Caul. They are amazing looking models and I don't want to miss out on any of them. I also somehow never picked up the Death Wolves??? How? Those models are amazing.I never did get Brennos because he always looked like a Skaven to me (sorry, Chad), and Loki. I should give my metal pureblood a chain and a shield and call it a day for a Loki proxy.I also figured out that my Lord of the Feast is falling apart. Good thing there was a mini-crate to deal with that problem!Another glaring hole is the absence of a second Stalker and second Tharn Chieftain. I'm far more likely to pick up the models I want to p

A Kind of Madness

“If I am mad, it is mercy! May the gods pity the man who in his callousness can remain sane to the hideous end!” â€• H.P. Lovecraft, The TempleIt's begun. I don't know where it will lead, but surely not closer to sanity. For you see, I need to know, I must know, the contents of my Warmachine and Hordes Collection.I spent our first summer in our home transferring my collection to plastic tubs. As I did so, I lovingly arranged group photos of each army on the brand new 4x8 game table my friend John Humphrey had gone out of his way to gift to me as a housewarming gift. There wasn't time or method for me to catalog the collection's exact contents, but I wanted to document it. Oh, how I wanted to.Fast forward 4 years and the collection has only grown, and I find myself in all facebook groups interacting with other enthusiasts. And some of them are quite enthusiastic! I happened upon a discussion asking, How Big is Your Blight?I found that I didn't know the answer. I wanted to know the answer, had to k
