Showcase: Death Guard Rhino

Creaking onto the blog today is this crusty old Rhino, sorry I mean trusty old Rhino. This kit has been on Games Workshop's shelves for what must be coming up to two decades. In fact, the Chaos accessory sprue that comes with the tank is even older! That's because the accessories were designed for the original MK1 Rhino kit. Rumble on over the jump and we'll chat some more about this OAP (Old Armoured Pensioner)More after the jump

Showcase: Dark Angels Redemptor Dreadnought

I'm in a weird place at the moment with my Conquest project. I'm actually keeping up with the releases really well, but I'm getting behind with the blogging side of things. To get things back on track I'm sharing the Redemptor Dreadnought today, which I finished a couple of weeks ago. More pics after the jump.More after the jump

WIP: Dark Angel Primaris Redemptor Dreadnought

I spent a whole week of evenings hand painting this armour. Glazing and glazing Warpstone Glow over Caliban Green was very tedious. Spending so long with this model I had a lot of time to think. I was considering the aesthetic of this scheme. Technically it's a complicated blend which I think is very pleasing to the eye but if you're into realism then these highlights fall short of that expectation. Miniature painting is art and that means it's all about the painter expressing themselves. I do this by choosing to paint bright, sharp paint jobs that wouldn't look out of place in a 1990s White Dwarf (like Kim Syberg Spaces Wolves). How about you? What kind of style do you prefer? Would you ever spend a week hand blending the armour or would you break out the airbrush?

Chat: Conquest Issues 19 - 22

It's the end of the month and you're here to check to see if I've failed to complete painting my models from the monthly subscription to Conquest! Just looking at the picture above should be answer enough, but yes, yes I have completed everything before the next sub arrives. I'm still on track! After the jump I share the pictures of the armies so far and some thoughts.More after the jump

Showcase: Munitorum Armoured Container #3

Warhammer 40,000 Conquest issue 20 is the third and final part of the Munitorum Armoured Container set. As you can see from above I've been boxing clever and managed to finish it really quickly. These storage units have been a barrel of laughs to paint. After the jump I share a group shot of all the terrain. More after the jump

WIP: Lord Felthius & Tainted Cohort

Another day, another WIP. I'm going to use this post to quickly take stock of my current hobby. As you can see from the picture my Conquest delivery  finally arrived (two weeks late) and I've rushed ahead with painting the next issue which is Lord Felthius & the Tainted Cohort. I've also assembled and base coated the rest of this month's subscription models (cargo container and three more Reivers). More on those at a later date. What does that leave left to do? Well I still have those three Pox Walkers to finish, but I did manage to finish the two Reivers I was working on last week. I'll share a photo of those later on in the week. My concern is with this subscription delivery being two weeks late, am I going to get the next monthly delivery in two weeks time so the publisher catches up?  That doesn't give me much time to get everything painted. It's going to be a busy two weeks so watch this space. NEW Garfy's Get a Grip Long Pro now available and in stock.

It was the first week of September that I received my first few issues of Warhammer Conquest. We’re fast approaching five months and I’ve managed to keep up to date by painting every issue before my next delivery arrives. I’ve truly surprised myself. I thought I would have fallen behind a long time ago. After the jump I’m going to share my secrets on how I’ve managed to keep on top of this.More after the jump
