Crooked Dice Miniatures

V the Mini Series - Clean and Sweep #1

Having had a couple infantry based games with the Visitors, I thought it time for the them to crank it up and go on the offensive. The militia player had to prepare for all round defence of the village from the Visitors and their cleansing and food hunt.Visitor Briefing.Location: ZikingaSituation: Your platoon has been tasked with clearing out a village. Expect a prepared defence.Initial Deployment: Enter on any road, you may enter on foot or mounted.Victory Conditions: Clear the village of militia.Zikanga Militia Briefing.Location: Zikinga.Situation: A Visitor assault on your village is expected, you are prepared to repel this assault on your home.Initial Deployment: Set up anywhere on the board.Victory Conditions: Keep control of the village at the end of the game.So there you have it a game of 750 points using Flying Lead. The game starts well for the human militia as the first Visitor APC is stopped in it's tracks by a well placed RPG round. The Visitor squad and Diana dive out of the pack of the AP

Crooked Dice - 28mm Visitors - V The Original Miniseries - The return.

Having played out a couple of encounters between the Visitors and African militiamen in Zikanga I had a couple of gaps in the Visitor faction that I wanted to fill. Images of other fellow gamers playing V are still a little hard to come by but Twisted Pinnacle has provided inspiration for a couple of conversions from the Crooked Dice Range.First up more Visitor Shock Troopers. The Visitors attempt to integrate with the local populations of earth so if they are going to be garrisoned in the Zikanga region I figured I would need some local looking troopers so I have added in a couple of black troopers with a couple of head swaps from the original blister packs.Human sympathisers - Visitor Youth Programme. In the original mini series they appear to be used as as a PR exercises, so I figured let's extend this to guard duties and general patrols, besides it gave me a chance paint up the minion dog section. The Officer has a Visitor cap and glasses to integrate him into the Visitor forces. Not suere yet whether he is

V the Miniseries - Money, Lasers & Contracts #1

After the ambush at the pipeline Lydia Head of Security for the Visitors in Africa is visiting one of the local warlords and opponent of  "legs" to negotiate a contract to patrol and defend the pipeline. She has a substantial bribe and contracts guaranteeing a stake in the pipeline venture once peace returns to the region.Unfortunately Louis "Legs" Akimbo and his Militia has become aware of these negotiations and has spent some time preparing an ambush to stop them. They are particularly eager to get their hands on Lydia and her briefcase – they can use the money to hire more gunmen and the contracts will prove the Visitors are not to be trusted which will fuel even more resentment and jealousy between Zikinga's ever-feuding clans. The ambush involves pre-placed IEDs that destroy the Visitors vehicles and leaves them stranded in the middle of bush. Once the IEDs are detonated, the Warlord Charity Nsithlan and his men will head for home and offer no assistance to the Visitors – if there’s no bribe mo

V the Mini-series - Welcome to Zikanga.......

Whilst the TV show concentrated on the US, the motherships appeared all around the globe and no part of the earth was untouched by the Visitor presence including the backwater that is Zinkanga.Louis "legs" Akimbo cared little for the visitor presence all he saw was another faction who were looking to step on his turf. The Visitors has started to widen their influence under key human individuals and were subject to Diana's mid control process called "conversion", which turned them into the visitors pawns. With senior leaders now under the control of the Visitors they inserted themselves amongst key organisations such as the UN and slowing brought them under their control.Bringing the Visitors into direct conflict with Legs. The UN and Visitors had set up an outpost in the heart of Leg's territory and the local peace was starting to interfere with his "tax" collecting operation.Recently the Visitors had installed a pipeline running across the country, he had blown it up only to find it piping water - very st

V The Original Miniseries - Crooked Dice.

These are the last ones honest....I know I should be painting more Haitians but after finishing the first batch of Alien Invaders I had the urge to swap a couple of heads and paint up some security troopers. With only 8 figures in the original release these adaptions should bolster the Visitor force to make them a worth putting on the tabletop.Putting a Shock Trooper Head on "John" gives me an extra commander and "Johns" head is a good fit on one of the troopers to give me another Trooper wearing sunglasses. I could have used the lizard heads supplied but you rarely show these in the show from the 80's.On the far right is a cap wearing engineer armed with a laser rifle.Crooked Dice do some spare heads wearing Sunglasses and whilst not true to the series are a good fit to act as proxy Security personnel. The full "Visitor" detachment - No Rodent is safe.I have enough now to put on a reasonable skirmish, with the promise of resistance in the future who knows where this will go.A close up of the Engineers, Shock

Crooked Dice - "Aliens" - V is for Visitors

Well that was fun...Being a child of the 80's how could I resist... for those a little younger, V was a Sci-fi Mini Series from the early 80's where aliens or "Visitors" arrived on earth to steal our water and farm us for food. They looked like humans but were in fact reptiles - who knew :-)Crooked Dice have done a great job with their latest alien releases - they bear a great similarity to the Visitors of the 80's mini series.Wonderful sculpts and a great selection of iconic characters from the series. My biggest challenge was finding a colour that matched the TV show, it was a off an orange/red colour which can be tricky to replicate as it could very easily turn into bright red. But I am really happy with how these have turned out.v\:* {behavior:url(#default#VML);} o\:* {behavior:url(#default#VML);} w\:* {behavior:url(#default#VML);} .shape {behavior:url(#default#VML);} Normal 0 false false false false EN-GB X-NONE X-NONE
