[EN/PL] First Crusade. Historical background. Part I / I Wyprawa Krzyżowa. Tło historyczne. Część I (V&V Miniatures: Crusaders 3 set #1

Hi everyone! The next week, the weather in Poland resembles the hell that awaited the Crusaders at Hattin in 1187. It is an unmerciful heat, the dyes dry up and the swarms of mosquitoes suck your blood.Well, I already have an introduction and with this smooth metaphor I can go to this today's entry ;-))        I took another set from V&V Miniatures for the workshop. This time "Crusaders 3"box, with the title Crusaders.Models, as I have mentioned many times, are made of resin and look perfectly.Beautiful quality and a multitude of details only emphasize the values of figurines. If you dont know V&V Miniatures yet, check:https://vminiatures.com/https://www.facebook.com/groups/vminiatures/Previous entries with the Pilgrims' models from V&V Miniatures were about the events of the so-called The People's Expedition / Folk Crusade, which immediately preceded the First Crusade. The history of first folk crusade. I’ve ordered at Warb … Dark Peak … forget it, I bought Footsore Miniatures

After a name and brand bickering, that I first thought was an April fools joke, Footsore Miniatures - who took over Musketeer Miniatures back in the day, came back to their name. With Gangs of Rome, they went with the name of Warbanner and recently Games Workshop got in touch with them, as Warbanner would […]

How Far Jerusalem 1

The start of two armies in one; Late Crusaders for both DBA and ADLG. The miniatures are all from Gladiator Miniatures formerly owned by Black Hat Figures and now by Fighting 15s. These have all been a part of this year's Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge IX and have been painted using block colours and a wash of Agrax Earthshade for tone.First two stands of spearmen showing Brother Knights and Brother Sergeants from the period between 1259 and 1273 when Brother Knights wore red tunics and Brother Sergeants remained in black. The papal bull was not popular and eventually over turned so that all Brothers wore red. The decals are water slide transfers and are from VVV. Going back to water slide transfers is quite refreshing and they still apply well if Micro Sol and Set are used sparingly. The shields are 15mm scale and the tabards are 10mm in scale.Crossbow and archers again from the sergeants.Spearmen and crossbowmen as they will be on the table for ADLG - the double depth is visual

As the last weeks of this year's Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge start the sudden realisation that hardly anything has been submitted. This will soon change with the first of several batches being posted this week. But first, some random work in progress pictures of current painting.Command stands for the 15mm Crusaders. Some Late Saxons from 1st Corps? These are being speed painted; block base colours snd washed with strong tone. No more than twenty minutes painting on each. The rebasing continues with all painted Germanic Tribes and Hun cavalry waiting for their bases to be textured, dry brushed and flocked. This time round all of the Late Romans, Germanic Tribes and Huns will have the same basing flock and tufts. This will enable all of them to be used as a part of the same or different armies. SimplesThinking that starting this during the AHPC IX wasn't the best thing to do.On top of the amp, there are some Undead, Moors, Germanic tribes and Late Romans as well.More to follow shortly along with some compl

Moving forward with another three sets of figures. First up, Late Roman archers from Gripping Beast. These will be ideal for supporting missile units and skirmishers. Also pictured are the first Crusader cavalry in 15mm as well as some command figures. Next some classic plastic skeletons from Citadel along with the occasional metal figure in here too.Last up, original Normans from Foundry. These have had more colour added with two layers of flesh added and the base coat for the armour and metallics.More to follow along with a rebasing update.Cheers for now.

Goodbye 2018, Hello 2019

G'day All,I'm a little late with my annual looking back / looking forward post this year because I've been on hols. It's something I enjoy though as I always find it motivating and it helps kick me into gear for the year ahead. Here we go...This year has seen the Distractability Index at close to an all-time high and whilst that has got loads of stuff done, it means a LOT of it wasn't from Glorious Plan Millsy 2018 (or maybe it was?).The plan for year consisted of three main goals...1. Continuation of the 55 Days at Peking ProjectThis one stalled big time. Too much of a good thing proved to be a bit of a killer for the enthusiasm but I did still manage to knock out a unit of Japanese Infantry.I also managed to get a couple of games in which was great fun.On the plus side I jumped on the Warbases Boxer Rebellion Kickstarter and will be shortly receiving another 8 beautiful building kits in the post. Add those to the table plus a few unfinished items and it will really look the duck's nuts! Enthusiasm restored.
