Necromunda Odds and Ends, Baby 'Thulhu, and RE-Based War or 1812 Militia!?

A few other things rolling off the workbench this week (in addition to the re-based Lion Clan Army for Dragon Rampant)...Four additions to the Necromunda collection. First (going from left to right of the picture) is some Hive Scum - another experiment with Contratst® paints (I think the miniature may have been from Kryomek...?). Next is a Rogue Doc - ostensibly for my Delaque gang (hence the dark trench coat) - y'know, if they ever get out of the negatives for Reputation and can hire a hanger-on. He has hair because she's just a hanger on and not a full gang member... She's got a medical bag slung over her shoulder (which you can't see in this pic). The figures is from Wargames Foundry. Next is an old Citadel Imperial Guard Medic. I thought he could be used as a Rogue Doc as well - did him in Old Necromunda regimental colours - figured he probably joined up, got all the kit and training and then deserted and fled to the under hive. Finally an old Citadel Necromunda Scavvy. the figure originally came with pla

Necromunda: Walls, Doors, and Karloth Valois

This past week I've mostly been working on Necromunda stuff. In particular walls and doors. These are what the walls are looking like on the game board. Both here and elsewhere, a few people have asked for close-ups of the wall graffiti, so, here you are...End/Corner Bits Side OneI have about 24 of these...? Maybe 26...? But I'm only taking pictures of the ones I've done some graphiti on. I didn't do a LOT on all sides as at least two of the sides will always be covered. Same goes for all the others.End/Corner Bits Side Two.See what I mean? Some sides get nothing.End/Corner Bits Side ThreeEnd/Corner Bits Side FourLong Wall Sections Side OneLong Wall Sections Side TwoThese are also a bit of a work in progress... I may still paint something on those two blank ones...Long Wall Sections End OneLong Wall Sections End TwoShort Wall Sections Side OneShort Wall Sections Side OneShort Wall Sections End OneShort Wall Sections End TwoKarloth Valois - Infamous Rogue Psyker of Necromunda - with the ability to telepathically

Worst Case Scenario #18: 'Time Machines, Cultists and Samurai - Oh My!'

Its been a while since we revisited our rollicking Strange Aeons campaign of manly, two-fisted adventure and cliff-hanging derring-do, so I dug up the character sheets and dusted off the pulp figures so we could play another chapter in our story. To recap: It is 1937, and our team of stalwart adventurers, following a tenuous lead, are  in the midst of investigating a secret cave complex along the Basque coast of war-torn Spain. They have just vanquished a combined group of The Cult of the Yellow Hand and the Nazi Special Action Unit: ‘Dark Ocean’. At the end of that pitched melee, the heroes captured a Dark Ocean senior officer whom they questioned (using a touch of harsh language, it must be admitted). The Dark Ocean Officer, plotting his evil plan. From that miserable cretin they gained intelligence that the tunnel complex continues much deeper, ultimately leading to a super-secret laboratory of vile, eldritch design.  With this knowledge they set off to find this strange lab.Upon enterin

March Games

In March, we played a few games....Friday, 1 March 2019The first of March was a Friday, and therefore Family game night. As we hadn’t gotten to play a game on my birthday, I chose to play Terraforming Mars. This was our fifth play of it so far this year (half way to 10!). While I (and probably Amanda) are far from tiring of this game, I think the kids are… well… interested in playing other things…?This evening we played with the Hellas board. My stuff at the end of the game.Amanda Plante played Ecoline, I tried out Credicor, The Girl played the Tharsis Republic, and Finnegan played Inventrix. I felt like the game went crazy quick – like I was barely getting going… and it was all over!? I did managed to take the Rim Settler milestone and first for the Space Baron Award and tied for second in the Magnate Award. Amanda took the Tactician and Polar Explorer Milestones and first for both the Magnate and Cultivator awards. Finnegan came in second for the Space Baron, Magnate, and Cultivator awards.Amanda won with a

Ev's Challenge - The Final Chapter

So the Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge has come to an end for another year. And what a ride it's been! I've minioned for the first time (big shout-out to the Wednesday Warriors!), and I've produced a varied assembly of fantasy figures. So what have I learned?Preparation, above all. While I could get away with doing things on the fly in previous years, work commitments plus the weekly minioning meant that I really should have gone in with a proper plan. I'm severely ADHD and a worrier by nature, so lack of preparation really is the enemy.Try and vary the subject matter. I have so many historical, 40K and horror figs still in the lead mountain, yet this time round it was almost all fantasy, and I think this got me in a bit of a rut. Realistic targets. After last year, when I actually cracked 500 points, I thought I could do the same again. Not so, topped out at 479, worse luck! Time and resources are limited, and I have to take this into account next time.Anyway, enough of the self-reproach, here's

The Polyhedron Collider Cast Episode 50 - Arkham Horror 3rd ed, Deep Madness and Monolith Arena

Any other podcast would make a big song and dance about releasing their 50th episode. Not the boys from the PHC, because they weren’t paying attention and didn’t realise they had reached such a prestigious milestone.Instead they talk about four games that may well make their best of the year lists; Steve gets his arse handed to him by Arkham Horror 3rd Edition, Andy goes into a Deep Madness and Jon tackles Monolith Arena. Andy and Steve then quickly say how much they love Brass (Brarse), while Jon tackles the news and Steve’s delves deep into his sack, mail sack that is.Read more »
