Weekly Chronicle 2019 #11

Week #11 for 2019 is now in the books and it was a "good" week, not bad, not great, just good.Wednesday night I was able to throw down my Navigator's Guild and get in a game vs Hunter's, and on Friday I was actually able to finish painting another model for my Butcher's Guild with the new 'Veteran Boar'.Then on Saturday I hosted my first ever Guild Ball Tournament down in South Bend, IN and I think it was very successful.  We had 15 players come out for the event, and I hope everyone had a good time. What is in store for this week? I have a 'Mataagi' for the Hunter's Guild that I think my son is going to want me to finish for AdeptiCon, not sure if it will be completed but it will be close, and then we still need to practice practice practice.  We have no major plans coming up this weekend, so it may be a perfect time to get in quite a few Guild Ball and X-Wing games in before AdeptiCon, we shall see....

Weekly Chronicle 2019 #9

We are into the first week of March and the first quarter of the year is almost over and I seem to be behind in my gaming and way behind in my painting. All honesty regarding  the painting, I am actually okay with that.  My main game that I am playing is Guild Ball, and my favorite Guild (Butcher's) and my son's Guild (Hunter's) are all completed (for now).  My Butcher's Guild will be receiving 'Veteran Boar' this week, and shortly there after I should be receiving 'Steeljaw' for the Hunter's, so both of these models will then hit the painting table.  I then need to decide what I am doing with the Cook's Minor Guild, I really want to have 'Roast' and 'Cinnamon' completed so they can play with the Butcher's, but then I might as well get the rest of the Cook's completed.Last week was not actually too bad in both departments.  I was able to paint up the 3D Goals we received from Bourbon Trail Open IV, and I was able to get in games of Destiny, X-Wing and Guild Ball last week.  More t

Weekly Chronicle 2019 #6

Another pretty slow week has come and gone for me.  Painting wise nothing has been completed and is looking like a pretty poor year in that regards, currently I am in the mentality of just playing what I already have painted and it may look like that for most of the year.I did manage a few games in this week, 2 games of Destiny last Monday night, and a game of Guild Ball yesterday morning.  I have a semi local event coming up this Saturday in Grand Rapids and I would like to get in one more practice game this week before heading up there.Models Completed: 0Games Played: 3

Weekly Chronicle 2019 #3

It was another bad week in the painting department for me this week, and it looks like it will continue that way for the rest of the month.  I'll be heading out of town next weekend for a week, and nights this week look to be busy too.  Maybe tomorrow night I may be able to finish off the model that has been sitting on my painting station. At least this past week I did make up for it with a few games.  I was able to get in 3 games of Guild Ball, and quick game of Destiny in.  It has only been 4 games of Guild Ball in so far this month and I am a little behind schedule of my goal of 50 games played for the year.  Missing out on a tournament last weekend has cost me a few games, but I do have a lot of events scheduled for the year so i should still be able to hit my goal......but....we still also have a lot of other games we need to try and squeeze in this year also.  I have not touched X-Wing this year so far and it is just over two month's till AdeptiCon where I will be playing in

Weekly Chronicle 2018 #51

Week #51 was a very slow week for me.  Besides a few games of Star Wars Destiny last Monday night, nothing else was played for the week.  It did not help that I was sick for most of the week and then when the weekend came, I had to do a little cleaning for the Holidays.I am off work this week, so hopefully I will be able to get in a few games, maybe one in tomorrow and then a few in on Thursday (that's the plan for now).No painting was also completed last week, but I did prep a few models to get ready for 2019.Models Completed: 0Games Played: 2

Weekly Chronicle 2018 #50

Week #50 has come to an end and there is only 2 more weeks left in 2018.  I think this past week was a pretty decent week for me, not really too much but not that little also.I was able to get in a game of Star Wars Destiny on Monday, Guild Ball on Thursday and Sunday, and my son and I played 2 Rounds of Warmachine/Hordes on Saturday night (as time was running out on us).For completed painted models, it was also a good week.  I was able to complete 6 models and I have 2 more in the queue for this week.  Completed models were: 'LE Cheese Ball', 'Veteran Chisel', 'Zombie Thresher', 'Blackheart's Grave', 'Ghast's Grave' and 'Greyscale's Grave'.Once the remaining 2 "The Dark Harvest" models are completed, I do not think much more will be done for the rest of this year.  More than likely I will start and prep models for January 2019 and enjoy the last week of the year getting in a few more games.Models Completed: 6Games Played: 4

Weekly Chronicle 2018 #49

The end of the year is approaching and I am looking forward to the new year and working on my list of expectations for 2019 (my annual New Year's Day post).  We still have a few more weeks left in 2018 and I am 7 Painting Points shy of beating last year's mark of 320 Points.  Looks like I better hurry up and get some models ready for the painting table.  It is not like I do not have any models in my Painting Queue Backlog, but some of the items I am saving for 2019 (mainly tackling the Minor Guilds for Guild Ball), but I thought of some models yesterday afternoon that should just put me past last year's mark.Back onto my recap of week #49.Painting: Last week only 1 model was completed with 'Veteran Hearne' for my son's Hunter's Guild Ball team, I am glad he got completed and that was the last model for the Guild.  Nothing else was completed, but a few models did get ready for this week.Gaming:  Last week did not see many Battle Reports, on Monday night and yesterday my son and i got i

Weekly Chronicle 2018 #48

I would have to say that last week was a pretty good week for me modeling and gaming.  My Mortician's Guild were able to get completed with the last three models being 'Veteran Graves', 'Brainpan' & 'Memory'.Gaming wise, my son and I got in a few games of Star Wars: Destiny in, and I was able to get in games of Guild Ball on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.  Friday night my son and I also squeezed in a game of X-Wing (which was a nice change of pace). The problem with playing more games is that I then fall behind on prepping models in my Painting Queue/Backlog and I only have one model currently ready to hit my painting table.  I am hoping that I can probably start on it tomorrow night and "maybe" get it done this week, but we will have to see.  I have a Guild Ball tournament coming up on Saturday, and Sunday is Guild Ball open play down in South Bend (and I usually can get a lot painted on the weekends.)  I may have to skip open play this coming Sunday so I can catch up on buil

Weekly Chronicle #47 2018

It was a pretty decent week for me in terms of gaming and hobbying, nothing over the top but a good mix of both.In gaming I was able to get in a game of Guild Ball on Monday an Wednesday night, then yesterday my son and I tried out our new Star Wars: Destiny starter sets.  I actually really enjoyed playing Destiny (I personally enjoyed it more than Magic the Gathering), I think having the dice in the game helps change it up a bit.For hobbying/modeling, I was able to complete 3 models for the Mortician's Guild with 'Vileswarm'. 'Scalpel' and 'Veteran Hemlocke'.  Only 3 more models left for the Mortician's and their whole Guild will be completed.  Since I am rolling with the Mortician's, I will continue to work on them this week.Gaming this week, I am not sure what is in the current pipeline.  I would like to get in another game of Destiny, and more than likely we will get in some more Guild Ball, I'd like to give 'Fillet' another shot for my Butcher's.Models Completed: 3Games Played: 3

Daily Chronicle: Black Friday Local Goodies

Besides doing online shopping this past Black Friday, my son and I headed to Chicago to visit my father's cemetery.  On the way back we decided to stop at Grognard Games in Schaumburg, IL and Heroes Haven in Michigan City, IN.Our first stop on the way back home was Grognard Games, this was actually our first time visiting the store.  We had meant stop in one time during AdeptiCon but never made it out.  I knew the owner Todd back from when he owned Crooked Hat Games 2002-2005 and I heard good things about his new store and wanted to check it out.  The size was decent for a gaming store, it was not huge, but it still had plenty of tables for miniature and card games and then the right 1/3 of the space was the actual store.  It was sad not to see any Privateer Press items, but he had the usual Games Workshop and a few niche games like Guild Ball, Arena Rex and Batman Miniature Game items.  Grognard was actually doing a Black Friday sale so I was hoping to find something.  Ther
