Here are the Marines I have (painted, so far...) organized for use in the current version of Warhammer 40,000: Apocalypse! The entire force (so far!)As with the Eldar, these were previously organized for Future War Commander - where an element is an element and the number of figures on each stand wasn't really important, so I wasn't really fussed about having the correct number of itty-bitty warriors on each stand. Consequently, a number of these elements have less than the basic number of models that should be on a stand - in these cases I assume that it represents the basic/minimum number that would be in a squad - for example, you can field Terminators in squads of five or ten, my stands have only three on each of them (because I only had a handful of them and I wanted more than just two squads (plus a few spares left over) and needed something I could use as a CO/HQ element - so I did four stands of three plus a smaller stand of just one - which would represent the HQ element.Marine Vangu
I finished up a few more Epic minis over the weekend...Four plastic Whirlwinds.Seven metal Vindicators (I already have another painted for a total of eight). not sure if any of those things out front count as a Siege Shield...?)All of these will probably be organized into two Spearhead detachments of four Vindicators and two Whirlwinds. I can't seem to find my Apocalypse rules. But I'm pretty sure Spearhead Detachment can have a maximum of six Heavy Support - of which all of these are... (so I can't put ALL the vindicators in one big detachment!)Here's something odd... I have a detachment with four squads of Terminators... and a captain n terminator armour. To transport those Terminators I thought I'd use Land Raiders... unfortunately Terminators are Elites and land raiders are NOT considered Transports - they're considered Heavy Support! A Vanguard Detachment can have up to SIX Elites, but only two Heavy Support... A Spearhead Detachment can have up to SIX Heavy Support... but only two Elites!? WTF!?I also f
I was going to include this in my previous painting update post, but it ended up being so much that I felt it deserved a whole post of its own.I've been toying with the idea of using the new Warhammer 40,000: Apocalypse rules with my "Epic Scale" 40K stuff. Recently I was looking at what I had and took stock and tried to form them into detachments to see how big of a game (in terms of number of units and power level - the minis are really very small...) I could put on the table and what, if anything I'd need to paint to play reasonable sized battle. I found for both Eldar and Space Marines I had in the neighbourhood of 300-400 Power Level. I may paint up a few more items for both forces before I actually get these on the table... I'm shooting for about 400 Power Level on each side.To start with... The EldarASURYANI FORCE for EPIC APOCALYPSEThe entire force (so far!). This comes to about 400 Power LevelThese were previously organized for Future War Commander - where an element is an element and the number of f
In a Mad Max style dash, these Ork trukks, gunwagons and other thrown together vehicles cross the hot desert. The post Epic Ork Trukks appeared first on Felix's Gaming Pages.
I finished 6 or so of the color sections on the Aeronef ships but I need to get going on the last bits of Eldar for the Epic World Tournament in Scotland next month. So orange is back on the painting pallet. I got the black undersides and cockpits done. Next up is the little bit of black trim on the top, the weapons and the orange treatment. I'm not sure if I'll have time but I'd also like to get 3 Fire Prism turrets done for the army as well. We'll see.
Only know pict image of the Misericordia, captured by the Baneblade Son of Iron at Kazani bridge, Katara, M41.With BOYL fast descending on me, I finally finished work my titan for the epic clash on Saturday morning. This is my first painted epic miniature and something of a bucket list miniature for me. I've long wanted to paint a chaos titan. Now of course I want to paint another. In any case, I dug into my hoard of titan bits and constructed the Iron Skulls legion titan, The Misericordia. It's been many, many years since I played epic, and I had forgotten much of the rules. After some consultation with my epic expert peeps I went for some reasonable guns and lots of close combat fun. The trident in particular seemed too entertaining not to take. There are several chaos titan heads, and this skull-faced one was my first choice for a Khornate titan.I tried to future-proof this titan a little, so all the weapons are magnetized. After some early insanity I recessed many of the magnets (Magnets do not love paint)
I finished the first of the six Falcon turrets last Friday right before NEAT. The next six are going to be magnetised so I can swap them out for Fire Prism turrets (haven't started on those yet though). I also did some conversion work earlier this week on my Revenants. I did some leg swaps to add some pose variety and magnetized the weapons. I have some Vibrocannon arm conversions to work on and a bit of puttying to do before these see paint. Finally, I finished up the lances and gems on the Shining Spears last night, and put on their decals as well. They'll need a bit of touch up and bases edges before they get top coated.
The Falcon turrets are nearly ready for paint, in the meantime I've been working on the Shining Spears. The white and blue is finished on these guys, just the metal, gems and decals left to go.
OK folks, so like last year, I attended a gaming WE in the city of Metz last week. It was the occasion for me to meet good gaming buddies and to play some games I don't get to play often enough, using stuff I had painted and not used yet !We were hosted by Nico and his gaming club and enjoy the wonderful activities he had prepared for us !Now let's take a look at the games played, take a good seat and the beverage of your choice, there's quite a few photos if you don't mind. ;)Read Moar Skullz »
I got the decals on the Sunblitz Brotherhood this week, and finished up the pennants as well. I'm not completely happy with them but my motivation to keep working on them is gone, so they're done. I hope to get them dullcoted and tufted this weekend, then it's on to the Falcon turrets.
I haven't been painting as much lately, so these have taken much longer than I would have liked. They're basically ready for the decals at this point, so we'll see how long it takes me to get my act together on those. I was pretty happy with how the gem effect came out on the lance. Also, oddly, I used a light greenish khaki as a base for the lance haft and weapons but it definitely looks bone colored. It must be all the yellow. I am thinking the yellow banners are just too much yellow on them though. What I'll likely do is paint them red with a yellow Sunblitz symbol on them instead.
I finished up the turrets on the Night Spinners last night. I ended up going with a magenta for the Doomweavers, and putting the glow more towards the middle/base. Annoyingly, I painted on my gloss coat which resulted in a yellow/brown tinge getting on them. I'm not sure if it was something in the brush or what but I have to clean up a few parts (it's most noticeable on the white highlights). I'll get to that in a bit and get some grass tufts on there as well, then I have to figure out Falcon turrets.
I took one of the turrets through to completion to see how I liked it. The Doomweaver was intended to be red that fades to bright orange, I'm not sure there's a whole lot a difference when compared to the hull orange though. Thoughts?
The Wild Riders haven't been holding my attention so I switched gears and started on the Night Spinner turrets this past Tuesday. The cockpits and undersides are done while the orange got started. I've since finished that up and got the barrels glued on since this picture was taken.
OK so it only seems right the new year begins how the previous one ended right ? After painting the paladins and lancers, I only had the wardens left to do ! Read Moar Skullz »
