OK so it only seems right the new year begins how the previous one ended right ? After painting the paladins and lancers, I only had the wardens left to do ! Read Moar Skullz »
So after painting the paladins, it was only natural to get to the lancers (or the wardens I know) ! Well I picked the tall fellas rather than the fat ones because... I don't know they looked fun and I'm painting them all in the end anyway !Lancers are the fast guys which you can guess from the tall legs and dynamic poses and I find them quite creepy actually with the german helmet or robotic chicken look...Read Moar Skullz »
So here are a few more giant robots to go with my ongoing epic project and this time, I treated myself with 3 imperial knights !The design of them is just brilliant, gothic and weird, I simply love them !Of course, with modern standards, these look kind of odd and they're actually different kinds of knights with an actual paladin and an errant, the third being... I don't know, some twisted vision of what a giant robot should be !Read Moar Skullz »
I've been working on the Jetbikes for the last two weeks. Just the orange highlights are left at this point as well as the decals. I didn't have these ready for Fall In!, but they're going to be getting some paint early next year I think, six custom Night Spinner turrets. I used most of the Forgeworld turret, just replacing the cockpit glass with some from fan-made proxies. These didn't make it down to Fall In! either but I'm hoping to finish them before the end of the year and EpiComp. They're my Wild Riders, I decided to paint them up in Sunblitz Brotherhood colors.
I ran a Warmaster Revolution tournament this past Friday down at Fall In!, and played in an Epic Armageddon tournament on Saturday. Great games and great armies. Enjoy the pics!
I finished the orange highlights this week on the Vypers and tidied up the base edges as well. They'll get some seal coats this weekend and maybe some grass tufts along with the Falcon hulls. I started on the Jetbikes yesterday too, just to get some paint on them for Fall In.
I finished converting my Jetbike Farseer this week. I removed the Guardian's torso and right arm, and got the Farseer's torso in there as a replacement. I then puttied the robes around what was left of the body and used a staple as the base for the right arm. On that went the Farseer's right hand and spear, and I used a staple again as the haft of the spear. I only got one night of painting in this week, so the Vypers only got their gems done and their first coat of orange. I did take one Vyper to completion just to see what it looked like highlighted. The only thing I went back and changed was to add some black in the engine exhaust areas.
I finished the painting on the Falcon hulls this week, and got them all gloss and dull coted up. Once I get a few more things done I'll do the grass tufts all in one go. I need to finish up making the turrets for these so they look presentable for Fall In! I also started on my Wild Rider conversion. Thoughts? He'll also be getting stabilizing fins and a back pennant. I used the head and sword of a Harlequin, filed off the mask and put on a Chaos Cultist's face on over it. This is my Jetbike Autarch/Wild Rider Chief conversion. She'll have the same fins and pennants as well. I used a Banshee head and right arm, and made the axe head out of a Farseer's Singing Spear. Both of these will be getting some putty. Finally, it was really nice to speed through some units after slogging through the 18 Falcons hulls for so long. I finished the black and weapons on my Vypers this week, as well as the decals. I hope to finish them the gems and orange next week.
Hi everyone, you might have seen those robots a short while ago in their successful kickstarter by Oldschool Miniatures, well I was lucky to be handed a few to paint !This is a new collaboration between Oldschool Miniatures and Jason Fairclough from Thunderchild and this time they've decided to scratch therobot itch with a nice oldschool vibe to them !Read Moar Skullz »
Nearly done with the orange, I just need to give the back row the last two highlights. After that it's rocks, base edges, gloss coat, decals, dullcote and grass. That should be doable over the weekend or early next week. I'm still working on the turrets for these. While I finish getting those ready for paint I'll likely see about Jetbikes or Vypers.
I haven't updated in awhile as I've been renovating our downstairs bathroom. As that's been wrapping up I've been getting some more time to paint 6mm stuff again. I've completed the cockpit glass, weapons and engines on the Falcon hulls. Now comes the long slog through the orange. One hull got the first highlight. I edge highlight most of the tank, then go back and to the outside/higher edges with a lighter orange. After that I do the sharper corners lighter and finally put a dot of my lightest color right at the corner.
Following on the heels of my previous Adeptus Titanicus post, I've managed to complete the second Warlord titan from my boxed set. This fella is in the colours of Legio Mortis. In 30/40K lore, Legio Mortis is one of the oldest titan legions in existence, renown for being insufferably haughty and elitist. With this being the case I thought I've give their classic baroque black-red-and-gold armour the high gloss treatment, with very little weathering. In my mind's eye I see these alpha-level god engines having flights of cherubim servitors flitting around, continually buffing and waxing the armour to a blinding sheen. :)Nonetheless, I still wanted to make sure the model conveyed that it was a brutal war machine. With this in mind I chopped up some extra bits from a Civitas terrain sprue to create the wreckage of a administratum building that's in the midst of being pounded into dust by the Warlord. Also, to help place the scene within some sort of scale, I placed a small group of tech-thralls and
The new edition of 'Adeptus Titanicus' was released a week or so ago, and having had great nostalgia for the original 1988 version (ye gads, has it been that long), I felt compelled to pick up this new release. I have to confess, my love for GW ended years ago when the company inexplicably dropped its support for the 'Specialist Games' line. Originally kept as a sort of boutique niche for 'veteran gamers' (whatever that means), Specialist Games had under its umbrella many of the great fringe titles that GW had created over the past 30 years. Mordheim, Warmaster, Battlefleet Gothic, Epic, Gorkamorka, these are just a few of the great games that were nestled under the 'Specialist Game' badge. Nonetheless, mismanagement and benign neglect caused the line to falter and it was quietly deleted from the corporate website. (Note: There is a 'Specialist Games' section at Forge World, but it's a shadow of the original catalogue.) I found that this decision, along with GW's IP suicide of killing off Warha
Today saw the release of Adeptus Titanicus from Games Workshop. Though I did not play the original Adeptus Titanicus fgame back in 1988, I did buy some of the miniatures and bought more when Space Marine was released in 1989. I also didn’t buy Titan Legions which came out in 1994. I really did get … Continue reading "Adeptus Titanicus is here"
