Future War Commander
If you like huge guns, this is your tank!Hailing from the Neo-Soviet range and found HERE, this thing just screams indirect firing.I will be reducing the opponents lines to crater heaven!
Today, I have some test case models for my 6mm "Gundam" force in Future War Commander (using the CAV Open Market list for the rules). And those are some vehicles to try out the colours I want them to be fielded in.Now, going by the Origins anime, the Zeon forces where all a rather dull grey, which works well on large scale models as you have the markings to add detail to them, but at this tiny scale they wouldn't have to much effect. So to that order, I added some Olive to the light grey colourscheme the vehicles tend to be painted in according to the anime. This breaks up the pattern a bit and makes it more pleasing to the eye.The "lucky candidates" for the test where an (incomplete, I lost the roof gun over the years) Bison support tank from the Neo Soviet range of Brigade Models, as well as two ww2 armoured cars which will now serve as recce units for the force.I'm rather fine with how the colour test turned out, and it is not to intricate to prevent mass painting of the forces once I have moved and go
They had withstood, and even repelled, the initial attack. But the brave soldiers of the Pax Arcadia knew they couldn't keep withstanding the massed ranks of Marines that kept breaking from orbit. A true overwhelming mass was gathering on the outskirts of the cities, and soon they would begin their break out of the landing zones. Officers at Central Command could see the legions of debauchery line up, the storm would come very soon...The third game in our Future War Commander "Colonisation" campaign, as Nemesis and me faced off again for a battle at the club. This time, I would command once again 3000 points, while he would have a measly 1500 points at his disposal, but the previous battle showed that is no way a sure defeat. My forces where build around speed and transport capacity this time, as I would need to either occupy his third of the table, or even better get as many troops as possible from his table edge. He needed to prevent this.To that end, the Pax Arcadia force broug
The big benefit of 6mm is that it paints rather smoothly, and this post I boosted some extra models for my Emperor's Children. After the previous "necessary" batch of Predators and Land Raiders, this batch makes for some nice variation, but not necessary reinforcements per se.The first models, painted in the "pre heresy scheme" of 30k style, are a Spartan (who will be used as a Land Raider as well, but adds some miniature variation in the force, and go to battle in smaller games where I field only one them) and a Sicaran who will get the AA SPG role of the Marine Corps list. Two Razorbacks, as above also 3D prints, are added as well, one with the anti infantry turret and the other with the anti tank one, to have some more cheap support tanks (cheap with Marines being relative of course) for the force. The final addition for this post are three bases of Marines, but this time painted up in the pre Heresy scheme as well, in order to have more variation from the pink and black stands of my regular force. Now the nex
The first of the Gundam models for my Cav Open Market list has been rolled off the painting desk today.I went for the "bottlecap" scale of the figures, which are around the 1/400 scale, so technically a little smaller then 6mm (at 1/300 up and about) but perfectly in size for FWC gaming, as every model stands about as big as a 32mm Heroic figure from Age of Sigmar and the likes. The models come in soft plastic, attached to a plastic bottle cap, so step 1 war removing the cap of course, and then the model was undercoated over it's pre-painted layer. My beloved 'two layer cell shading' style works perfectly for these sorts of models (heck, it's due to them I started painting like that years ago) and the first walker for the walker filled army list was ready.Ruleswise, being not a Gundam but a "not so mass-produced' Mobile Suit, it's going to use the rules for the "Assassin" class, which is in theme with it being a close combat suit, with a secondary missile launcher system (mounted in the shield), at 260 p
Even though the forces of Pax Arcadia had beaten back the Recce attempts from the Emperor's Children, the assault inevitably came. While perhaps not as pinpointed as it might have been, had the information been fully transmitted back to the fleet in orbit, they descended in their landing craft. Fireballs lighted up the dawn, as the forces landed on the soil of Azmodov 7. The tide of extremities had arrived, and the beleaguered Pax force had to hold out against the overwhelming numbers...So, scenario 2 in our Future War Commander narrative campaign that Nemesis and me are playing out, and this time the Pax only have half the points available of the Marine Corps troops. The scenario objectives are that within the timespan of 10 turns, you must break the opposing battleforce. Failing this, causing 25% casualties results in a minor victory instead.I opted for the bigger models in this force, with two knights, minimal regular marine troops, a heap of commanders and decent armoured support.Th
If my FWC games have showed one thing so far, it's that my painted force lacks some medium armoured support.Smaller, cheaper tanks to go alongside the mighty Land Raiders, whom so far have punched above their weight. So enter the first of a batch of Predators. Now, Marine vehicles are durable with their 4 hits 5+ save; but as in their large game counterparts they need to be tooled for the job at hand. So Predators (and for that matter in the list, Razorbacks) come either with anti-infantry, or anti-tank loadouts, but no all purpose armaments. These models as such, who are printed with files found on Thingiverse (seriously, have you seen the prices for the old metal Predators on ebay?) by my regular go to guy, have both options. The ones with lascannon sponsons and lascannon and plasma cannon turrets for the tank hunting, and the bolter sponsons with autocannons for anti personel duties (like those bulk out numbers Pax conscripts). And just because they fared so well up until now in my games, tw
The skies burned as the Chaos forces arrived over Azmodov 7, and soon the drop pods where screaming down towards the surface. On the ground, the forces of the Pax Arcadia rushed to the hotspots, where the first wave of heretics landed and started to look for landing points for their armies... The first scenario of the mini campaign Nemesis and me are going to be playing for Future War Commader, the Recce Phase is the first of the Colonisation scenarios in the book, and the full fluff for our little campaign can be found HERE.We settled on 1500 points for this first game, giving us not to big a force each. I went for mobility mostly, as my force needs to reach table edges AND return to the deployment zone for victory points as a result.Nemesis brought a large infantry post, who where split amongst it's two HQ's, while his CO brought along the armoured support. And so the forces deployed on the purposefully rural area table, to represent that the recce phase started in rural outskirts of the planet..
Azmodov 7. A barely noticeable, unintresting and agricultural planet in the Pax Arcadia empire. Life is calm there. Barely anything happens... and then they came. The immanterium burst open and the sons of Fulgrim, the Emperor's Children, started to make landfall, bound to grab every soul for themselves in an orgy of pain, excess and pleasure. It all started so innocent. Bored youth? Greedy communal masters? Who knows, but they started hovering together on the backward planet. And from the small population of just under 1.5 billion, a cult began to emerge, looking to put it's frontiers ever further in the quest to find thrills. But this small drop started to ripple, and as the cult grew, as did the craving for more amongst the populace influenced by them, it slowly but steadily became a beacon in the Warp. The Pax Arcadia lawmen noticed an increase in petty crimes at first, in the cities around the planet. But as with all smaller cities, the communication bet
Well, it was the last time on the 20th of May last year that we played this game, but it remains a "mainstay" between me and Nemesis to take out to the club once in a while. And so we settled down for a 2000 points game tonight, putting my Marine Corps (aka Emperor's Children) vs his Pax Arcadia. Now, I made an army building mistake, in that I had forgotten that if a transport gets destroyed, you get one save for your troops or they are dead. So it wasn`t the best idea to take all regular marines with their own personal Rhino in hindsight...My force consited of a Daemon princess (aka CO), and 2 commanders to lead them. Further it had 8 bases of Marines, each with a dedicated Rhino, two SPG Missile Systems, two Land Raiders, a grav bike and two Recce bikes. I detahced a commander to both missile tanks, and one to both land raiders and the grav bike, while all the main mechanised infantry joined the CO.Nemesis brought along his Pax Arcadia, and a rather massed army to boot. I don`t k
