Tutorial: How to paint Soot & Exhaust with an Airbrush by Silvernome

Hey gang, Silvernome back with yet another quick tutorial. I think most painters are used to using the tried and true drybrush approach to adding soot effects to weapons and even to their exhaust. But I started to use the airbrush and found I really liked the look a bit more on top of having a bit more control on how the effect could look.More after the jump

Showcase: Adeptus Custodes Constantin Valdor by Rich

Hi all, Rich back again with some more Custodies, this time the lovely model from Forge World, Constantin Valdor. I really like this model, he feels far grander and imposing than his 40k counterpart Trajann Valoris. I’m starting to think about how I can ready my army for Apocalypse and I think he will work very nicely as the leader of my Custodies detachment, either as a Shield-Captain or a proxy for Trajann.More after the jump

Tutorial: How to Paint Blood, Gore, and Slime Effects by Silvernome

When I was finished with my World Eaters Dreadnought, I thought it was missing something . . . BLOOD! I normally don’t add blood to my minis but for the World Eaters, I felt it was pretty fitting. After sharing him online I got a lot of requests on how I achieved the blood/gore effect so I thought I’d give you a look at how I did it. More after the jump

Showcase: Raven Guard Vanguard Librarian by Rich

Hi readers, it's Rich back again with a quick post for you. When I first saw the new Shadowspear boxed set I got very excited, not just because I have an army of Primaris Marines but because I was immediately captivated by this model, the Vanguard Librarian in Phobos armour. I like the urban camouflage colour scheme on Games Workshops mini but varied the colours a bit for more of a city environment and also to contrast with the dark armour of the rest of the army. Overall I’m really pleased with how he came out and I hope you enjoy this look at another one of my Ravenguard minis. Let me know what you’d like to see more of in the future; Raven Guard, Custodes or something a little more garish and 2nd edition...

Showcase: Raven Guard Dark Fury Assault Squad & Primaris Librarian by Rich

Surprise! Did you see that coming? Of course not, because they are Raven Guard, covert warfare specialists... I don’t usually share my Raven Guard on the blog because they are my 'gaming army’ I paint them cleanly but simply. I do however love the Dark Fury assault squad from Forge World which I use as Vanguard Veterans in games. I was pleased with how they came out when I painted them so I thought I would share them with you.More after the jump

Showcase: World Eaters Red Butchers Contemptor Dreadnought by Silvernome

Hey everyone, Silvernome here back with more Chaos Legion goodness!I’ve always been a fan of the Chaos Legions, but since I mostly play Death Guard and Thousand Sons I never really have had the chance to paint the other Legions without building out a force. I’ve always had a soft spot for dreadnoughts, they are just so iconic to Warhammer, so I decided to start collecting Contemptor Dreadnoughts from each legion to give me that chance to paint them all. When I’ve eventually collected and painted them, the grand plan is to make a small diorama to show them off.More after the jump

Showcase: Blackstone Fortress Negavolt Cultists by SpaceShrimp

Hi everyone, It is me Cat aka SpaceShrimp with the latest instalment in the Blackstone mini-series. More after the Mag-lift.Ohm - my god, these models where shockingly painful to de-mold line. But I re-fused to give up and somehow managed to not break their hair cables, even though I dropped most of them at some point, so I am pretty amped about that.More after the jump
