Hordes: Minions Brun Cragback & Lug (Solo)

I had one model on my list that I wanted to complete for the upcoming Warmachine Weekend next month and that was 'Brun Cragback & Lug' and now they are completed. For fun pickup games and Iron Arena games at WMW, I am thinking about bringing my Minions army with and try out a 'Rask' "Will Work For Food" list with my 'Dracodile' and I needed another Lesser Warlock for my list, so I decided on 'Brun Cragback & Lug'.It was actually this model years and years ago that got me interested in Hordes and the Minions.  It was just many years later that I finally purchased the model and now they are painted.  I was hoping to give them a try tonight, but with attending the Michigan GT tomorrow, I need a little more practice with my Khador.  Maybe next week they will see the tabletop for a game. Brun Cragback &Lug  Brun Cragback &Lug  Brun Cragback &Lug  Brun Cragback &Lug Brun Cragback &LugPainting Points: 6

Daily Chronicle: Upcoming Warmachine/Hordes Michigan Cup 10/14/2018

This weekend is the Michigan GT in Lansing Michigan.  It is a gaming convention with multiple events like Warhammer 40K, Age of Sigmar, Bolt Action and Warmachine/Hordes.Last year I had planned to attend and play in the Warmachine/Hordes Championships (75 point Steamroller), but car issues had kept me from attending.  This year I had no intentions on attending.  My son and I just came back from the NOVA Open last month, and I spent all last week on vacation with my wife.  Plus this is the same weekend as SteamCon USA and if I was attending one of these events, I probably would have tried to attend SteamCon USA, but I was not attending either......up until today. My friend TJ this afternoon sent me a text asking if I wanted to fill in as their 5th player in the WM/H Michigan Cup (they had a late dropout). This is a slightly modified version of the popular World Team Championship competition format.  This challenging format features 5-person teams squaring off after a strategic roun

Privateer Press: Cygnar Mystery Box

A friend of mine in Kalamazoo recently purchased a couple of the Privateer Press Mystery Boxes (hoping for Khador) and he ended up receiving a Cryx and Cygnar box.  He posted on the Facebook Groups looking to trade someone and there were not any takers, so I contacted him if he was willing to sell the Cygnar box.  Well he did and we met today for the exchange. My sons Warmachine army is Cygnar, so this box if for him, he really wanted to have the 'Hurricane' model.  This mystery box is a bit different than the other Cygnar ones that have been posted, instead of an Infantry Unit, it came with another Warjack (which my son and I actually prefer). Here is a breakdown of what was inside our Mystery Box:Battlegroup: Major Beth MaddoxIron CladFireflyLancerColossal:Hurricane/StormwallHeavy Warjacks:Stormclad/ReliantCyclone/Defender/IroncladLight Warjacks:SentinelAccessory:Cygnar Token SetI think for $60 this was great buy for all the Warjacks....

Weekly Chronicle #38 2018

Not much painting was completed last week, but I did start on another 10 'Warriors of the Dead' for MeSBG.  I am not sure if they will get completed this week, if anything I may have some time Friday night or Saturday morning, then I have to get ready for vacation next week.Gaming wise, I did manage to get in 4 games of X-Wing.  The first 2 games were just from the Starter Set, but the last 2 were full 200 point games.  Pictures from game 4 will be posted later today.Warmachine/Hordes: right now much going on with WM/H.  I still have a lot of models that need to be completed but just do not have the passion at the moment.  If I was more excited for Warmachine Weekend, then maybe.  Warmachine Weekend did finally release a small event schedule, but just a list of the tournament games, non of the fun events yet which is why I was planning to go.  Last night we had a personal setback with a broken dryer, so the funds allocated for WMW may have to go to the new dryer (we shall se

Daily Chronicle: Caught A Bug...Not The Hobby Bug

Ever since coming home from the NOVA Open, I have been feeling pretty sick, I must have caught a bug while at the convention.  I should have taken advantage more of the sanitize dispensers they had setup through out the convention. To be honest, I also did catch a new hobby bug also, well actually it is an old bug revisited.  Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game, now known as Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game.  I started playing this game 10 years ago, and it has been a long time since I played last, I skipped over the Hobbit books when they came out.  While at the NOVA Open, my son and I sat in seminar by Adam Troke about the future of Middle-earth SBG, and the game started to give me an itch again to play.Once the seminar was over, Games Workshop was able to sell the new rules manuals, army list book, and starter sets.  So we picked up a starter set box and army list book.  This past Monday night I broke out my old models and started to play around with some list ideas to see

Daily Chronicle: 1 Day Till The NOVA Open

In 24 hours we should just about be pulling into the Hyatt Regency Crystal City and checking in for the 2018 NOVA Open.  We are leaving tonight and driving straight through, so tomorrow is going to be a very long day playing right into the Warmachine/Hordes Team Tournament.  Luckily I do not take tournaments too seriously and I am just playing for fun.  Who knows, maybe after 2-3 rounds we may retire (but we will have to see with our teammate first).Am I ready for the events? Not really...but who cares if I win or lose, lets just through some dice.  Saturday and Sunday events I am really looking forward to ("Breakfastmachine" and "Speedmachine") these events do not take the whole day and leaves some time to do some other things.  I am still glad I dropped the Guild Ball event on Friday to open a day of gaming (I am even bringing a few Batman miniatures and may do a quick demo).I plan on posting some pics each night when I get back to the room, we shall see how that goes...stay tuned..

Weekly Chronicle #34 2018 (NOVA Open Week)

Well I finally made it to the week of the NOVA Open.  The NOVA Open starts in just under 3 days, and we will actually be leaving this coming Wednesday night.  All my Warmachine Khador lists have been uploaded to Conflict Chamber (just waiting on some more in to come in so I can finish printing them), my Arena Rex models/terrain is all packed and ready to go for some friendly games (although there are no official Arena Rex events at NOVA Open, we are hoping there will be some space available for a few games), and my shopping list is ready for the event.  That list is not too long or expensive, just depends if we decide to pick up the new Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game Rules Manual, or wait until we get back home and pick it up at my son's store.Unfortunately this past week I did not get in any practice games of Warmachine/Hordes, I only have one more night available and that would be tonight, we'll see how that goes.  Last Friday night my son and I did get in a game of Arena Rex, althoug

Daily Chronicle: 7 Days Till The NOVA Open

We are only one week away from the start of the NOVA Open in Arlington, VA.  My son, my friend TJ and I will actually be leaving late Wednesday (29th) evening and driving through out to night to Arlington.  The plan is to arrive sometime late morning and freshen up, relax before the Warmachine/Hordes Team Tournament starts at noon. Here is a recap of my schedule for next weekend:Thursday: Warmachine/Hordes Team TournamentFriday: Open Day, Iron Arena and some Arena RexSaturday: “Breakfastmachine” in the morning and then some open play.Sunday: “Speedmachine” and then travel back home.TJ is signed up for the same events (our 3rd team member), but on Friday he added the Warmachine/Hordes Masters Tournament.  Originally my son and I were signed up for the Guild Ball Tournament on Friday, but since we have not played in awhile, we elected to drop that event and have a little open time.  When I attend these conventions, I like to have a little down time and not have it be tournament after tourname

Weekly Chronicle #33 2018

Wow, it was actually a pretty decent week for me last week in regards to my hobby.  I was able to get in a few games, built some terrain, and painted some models.Gaming: I was able to get in a game of Warmachine/Hordes on Thursday night against my friend TJ, which was not a very good outcome for my Khador army.  Then on Saturday morning my son and I got in another game of Arena Rex, which again was not a good outcome for my myself.Terrain: I built a 4Ground South Point Tenement 1 for Batman Miniature Game, and I was able to complete some Spikes for Arena Rex.  I have more terrain for Arena Rex on the bench and those will be posted soon.Painting: I was able to start and finish my Ludus Magnus Starter Set for Arena Rex.  ‘Micon’, Marcus Furius’ and ‘Infelix’ all were completed.  Up next for Arena Rex will be the Starter Set for Legio XIII.So, all in all, it was a very good week for me and this week should also be very good.  Next week (the we
