Now in the deluge of marking and June teaching.     Website outages   If you are a regular visitor to our website or the forums, you will be aware that we have been suffering a spate of website outages. Apologies for this – we have been trying to work with our hosting provider to identify the root cause. Unfortunately, it is proving hard to do this as the dashboard controls on our side don’t give us the information we need to self-diagnose.     RMU   Aaron has delivered a vast spreadsheet of creature stats for sanity checking. Graham Bottley is devising how to create a RMU Lite from the latest RMU drafts.     HARP Fantasy and HARP SF   I have completed an editorial sweep of the HARP SF Poseidon Gambit draft and it is back with its

Director’s Briefing – May 2019

If you would like to receive the Director’s Briefing straight to your inbox each month, you can sign up to our mailing list HERE.     Welcome   To the ninety-sixth Briefing and fifth scheduled Briefing of 2019. Apologies for its lateness – the semester workload went supernova in the last few weeks – and for the extreme brevity – I have just entered the gap between the end of semester teaching and the arrival of marking/June teaching, so I am sure you would rather I focused on getting projects complete than a lengthy Briefing!     Licenses   I still have a specific license to write for a science-fiction setting, so that we can publish it for HARP and its creator can use it for fiction.     RMU   Aaron remains sane with RMU Creature Law. Graham Bottley is rolling up his sleeves to resume work on a RMU Lite version.     HARP Fantasy and HARP SF   The editorial list of requests for change on HARP Beyond the Veil is with Jon Cassie.   I

He is also still sane. He will now be proceeding into propagating all those changes into the Creature Law drafts.     HARP Fantasy and HARP SF   I have completed my review of the first draft of HARP Beyond the Veil. Lots of really great material in that sourcebook. Naturally I have my editorial list of corrections, suggested addit

Rollmaster for Rolemaster out now!

Bread is a staple part of any adventurer’s diet. But there are different types of bread, different qualities and they cost different amounts. Tabletop roleplaying games are all the worse for the gross oversimplification of this popular food stuff. That is why we have created a brand new supplement to add more realism and crunch (no pun intended) to your RPG bread.   Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you Rollmaster for Rolemaster!   This supplement includes:   A look at the different varieties of bread Different bread selling establishments and their various prices The nutritional value of different types of bread A formula for working out the benefits for consuming various types of bread The best thing about the supplement? It is absolutely free! You can download it HERE. It may take some time, it’s pretty big

Director’s Briefing – March 2019

If you would like to receive the Director’s Briefing straight to your inbox each month, you can sign up to our mailing list HERE.     Welcome   To the ninety-fourth Briefing and third scheduled Briefing of 2019.     Licenses   John Seal has been working hard with future licensees (and I have occasionally pitched in with the odd email.) Expect a new Spanish license for HARP to be formally announced soon.     RMU   Continued strong progress is happening with RMU. Aaron has been cross-referencing talents and flaws and enforcing consistency among all the lists. He has updated all of the creatures to reflect corrections to the talents. More work ongoing there.     HARP Fantasy and HARP SF   Terry is reading his way through HARP Garden of Rain for artwork direction purposes, while Joel Lovell has been reworking the author’s maps for us.   The author of HARP Subterfuge has sent through some minor amendments and corrections – which I will d

Director’s Briefing – January 2019

If you would like to receive the Director’s Briefing straight to your inbox each month, you can sign up to our mailing list HERE.     Welcome to 2019   Happy New Year to everyone. Welcome to the ninety-second Briefing and the first scheduled Briefing of 2019.   Over the course of 2018, I managed to read Elizabeth Moon’s Paladin’s Legacy quintet, Terry Brook’s Legends of Shannara duology, and multiple Valdemar trilogies from Mercedes Lackey. My holiday reading was the Evermen quartet by James Maxwell and his Shifting Tides quartet. The Evermen cycle features a rune-based magic where spells are inscribed onto surfaces before being invoked through incantation and used by bladesingers for combat and to create multiple forms of constructs. The Shifting Tides is a completely different setting set in an analogue of classical Greece and the wider Mediterranean where ogres, giants, furies, merfolk, sea serpents and dragons are forms taken by shapeshifters – but if they spend too long i

If you would like to receive the Director’s Briefing straight to your inbox each month, you can sign up to our mailing list HERE.     Welcome   To the ninety-first Briefing and the twelfth scheduled Briefing of 2018.     Dragonmeet 2018   The ICE team attended the Dragonmeet convention, setting up our stall and bedecking it with enticing products, including both hardcovers and softcovers of Shadow World: Jaiman: Land of Twilight. Dragonmeet continues to grow in size and had its largest number of attendees ever. A very successful convention in terms of sales (we sold out of Jaiman hardcovers and a number of other titles). We also had some useful discussions with three potential authors, a new artist, and another potential foreign language licensee.     Shadow World   Terry is back to work on Shadow World with Haalkitaine manuscript. He is also considering doing a small adventure set in SW Emer.     Rolemaster   Aaron Smalley has joined Jo

We look forward to seeing some of you there. Visit the Dragonmeet site at www.dragonmeet.co.uk     Shadow World   Our intention for Dragonmeet is to have Shadow World: Jaiman: Land of Twilight available in both perfectbound softcover and hardcover. Terry has taken a short break from Haalkitaine in order to do the needful preparation of the print masters.   In terms of other Shadow World projects, Terry and I have agreed that the manuscript entitled “Priest-King of Shade” (by BrIan Hanson) will join my editing queue for an editing pass and will then have a canonical approva

Director’s Brefing – October 2018

A short Briefing this month as it has been busy in the real-world with the start of a new academic year, but still happy.     Shadow World   While you have been enjoying the second edition of Shadow World: Jaiman: Land of Twilight, Terry has been busy working on Haalkitaine. His approach has been to combine the editing and revising of the existing text with adding new material as he goes along. Terry’s expectation is that the second edition of Haalkitaine will have 100+ pages of new content, with a particular emphasis on groups and people that player-characters might encounter. As an occasional change of pace, he is also making modest progress on Emer IV.     Rolemaster   I don’t have any progress to report on RMU Creature Law this month, bu
