Well, Adepticon was a few weeks ago. I have had plenty of time to recover (I took extra vacation afterwards for family time. If you ever go, especially if driving, I highly recommend this approach). Now I should start sharing my experience. Over the next week I'll be posting numerous articles covering it including-A Song of Ice and Fire by CMoN-40k Team Tournament-Making our Team Tournament board-Horus Heresy Knight Fight-Kings of War Big Battle-Medeival Times-Space Hulk-Bonus Roadshow Podcasts!-And it will all wrap up with our Allies of Inconvenience post Adepticon podcast! This was my 4th Adepticon and it was as fun as ever. This year I went into it signing up for as many events with models provided day 1 and 2. Just took a lot of personal prep pressure off (which got put right back on later, but I'll talk about that when I get to the 40k team tournament this year). And man did this approach pay off big time. I had a lot of fun games starting with my introduction to the A Song of Ice and Fire game by Cool Mi
Only my second venture in the world of Kings of War, I like the look of it from the start but was a little unsure. The first time I played, both of us were novices and made lots of mistakes that ruined the game for me. Fast forward a couple of years and Tim, a very experienced KoW player at PAW run me through a 3000 point encounter battle between Orcs and Goblins(me) verses Dwarf(Tim).Well we played to completion in just over 3 hours and I really enjoyed it! More so because I won lolLots of pictures follow.....the Dwarves are all Demonworld and the Orcs and Goblins are a mix of Demonworld and Blood DawnI love this model....i have 4 of them ;-)Dwarf tankBerserkers take on trolls, the regeneration of trolls is a great thing! Stubborn DwarvesHeavy boar ridersBehold the awesomeness of the giant arachnid Orc Lord on war mountBlood Dawn Orcs, Greataxes (Black Orcs in my world) clash with Dwarf warriorsMore GreataxesDefinitely an enjoyable game and I will definitely play again. The game has also spurred me
The Orcs have returned to the north, this time hunting for Dragon Eggs. If raised by evil forces these beasts can destroy whole cities, so it is up to Rockjaw and his group to stop them before they make off with such deadly cargo!
Last week I posted a work in progress shot on a Foul Blightspawn for my Death Guard army and I managed to sort out a base for him up shortly thereafter. Here he is in all his feculent glory:Feculus Spew is ready to spread death and decay. The weather here in Seattle has turned pretty cold, so its not optimal priming/spraying weather. Instead, I turned to models I already had primed before the weather turned; so that means more High Elves. The army is getting pretty sizable now. I've only got to complete four cavalry models and I should have enough to play a reasonably sized game now. Finally finished up a command group for these spearmen. Then I cranked out five more Lothern Seaguard to bring that unit to a full twenty troops. Then I added five more bowmen and a champion to bring that unit to fifteen guys. This photo is super weird. The angleI took it at makes the bowmen appear to
Lately, I've decided to start growing my High Elf army. I've played a handful of games of Warhammer Fantasy Battle and Kings of War with what I have now, and I'm re-learning a lesson that I'd forgotten: namely that most massed battle games aren't as much fun as smaller games. Its not that games I've played haven't been fun per se, its that feeling that they'd be so much more interesting with more units. To that end, I'm putting some more paint on some new units for my High Elves. This weekend, I managed to get a 15 man unit of classic Spearmen painted up. I still need to finish four more guys, paint the unit's bases and wait for a Champion model to arrive from Ebay. These old models paint up so quickly with assembly line techniques. And the nostalgia I get painting them keeps me well motivated, so this should skip along pretty fast. I'm going to graduate out the command models currently in my missile units to serve in melee formations, so I've been painting up some bowmen to replace them. These two will replace
Trying to continue with the weekly update... I've done it twice now, so I'm totally gonna keep it up all year, right? Ha! We shall see. Most of my painting this week has been one-off figures and prep work, so not super exciting. I finished up two single figs this week. First was a High Elf Dragon Prince. I needed a commander model for an upcoming game of Kings of War and this guy had been languishing on my painting desk for a while. I figured he'd make a good Elf King to game with. He also acts as a test scheme for a full unit of these guys - a project I should get cracking on.Later in the week, I cranked out a quick Aethermic Navigator hero for my Kharadron Overlords. This was the last model I needed to bring me to a 2000 point army. I ended up having to mail order him directly from Games Workshop, as no local stores or Amazon dealers carried him in stock. So much for giving the FLGS the business if they can't get what I want. Ugh. In any case, I should take some nice beauty shots of the wh
Travis is back for another Vanguard game! This time we have to Capture the Plans dropped by the lost Dwarf… scouring the Battlefield for their location.
I love Lizardmen. Note, Lizardmen, not Seraphon. The old lizard lore was so cool, and the way they worked before AoS way more interesting to me (if I wanted to play a summoning game, I would have picked Daemons). SO for me, that means my Lizard force is going to be built to WHFB 8th Edition, The Ninth Age and Kings of War. I may use them occasionally in AoS, but my opponent would have to be cool with Square Bases. My Tamurkhan's Horde army will be for AoS. My lizards are going to be for Rank and File battle games. It has been a LONG TIME coming, but I am finally making this army. With that said, I finally finished the my first complete Lizard of my own army. The Carnosaur kit is just such a cool kit, and I loved every minute of making this model.
Kings of War has been getting a reasonable following in Auckland over the last 12-18 months with the Second Edition (pub. 2015) and the Auckland Wargaming Club is looking at hosting a 1-day KoW Game Day in December featuring 2 ‘teams’…Read more ›

You knows, as much as we like to talk about war... fightin' and killin' isn't the only good thing in life, sure it's one of the best things I'd never say it twernt, but there is more to life, and when you're the king o' the tribe it's good to enjoy all...
Just a quick update to show the progress on Brokentooth's Wyvern, "Spitter".One of my favorite things to paint is reptile skin, so this was very enjoyable. I've got the skin at about 95% finished, just a spot of blending here or there to do, and I thin...
Brokentooth surveyed the young goblins before him. Pathetic. One of two showed promise, but the bulk of them? rabble. sigh.Quiet down or I'll stuff you in the wolf pen and ring the dinner bell! You're given me a headpounding. Tha...
And this is my painting load...You may notice something about me while reading through my blogs. I have a horrible case of Gamer's ADD when it comes to staying with a game for any length of time, usually I find myself trying, or returning to, a new gam...
