Madrak Ironhide Thornwood Chieftan

Game 18: Borka2 vs. Madrak1

The Not so Civil War continues! This time Borka the Vengeance of the Rimeshaws raises the Power of Dhunia to face his own kinsman whom Ironwood Chieftain Madrak has taken! The Glacier King is not really going to get shots against an entirely cold immune army (and all the stuff that isn't cold immune shouldn't be a viable target) that really he should be looking for places to run up and try to remove Mulg or Rok from the table.Borka2 uses a combination of charges, lightning fists, and countercharges to cut a hole into the Raider picket line. DEF 15 is no joke, but to beasts and a warlock who can boost, the bigger question is whether they will Tough under Madrak's Even Ground. getting lucky Lightning damage rolls to pop more Tough rolls helps widen the opening in the front. The best part is that it's behind a forest, a decent spot to hide my battlegroup. Mulg stays within 3" to keep Arcane Vortex in check to prevent Hunter from going off.Instead of a charge, the Glacier King opts to power strike the Earthborn int

Dhunian Archon

They spoiled the images of the Dhunian Archon. She will be on a medium base, unlike the other archons, and I'd have to say that I don't like the color choices going on here. The green skin with the orange hair makes her too Orcy for my tastes, so I might stick to my standard troll brown skin, maybe green clothes, or maybe standard blue as my troll scheme goes.I'm trying to find a list to test her in.Right now we're concerned that she doesn't do enough to justify taking up a Minion slot in a list or even taking up a free slot in the Power of Dhunia theme where she's included (and thus, could run 2 of her in).Often you need to use that minion slot to flex some part of your list, like using it to get a Bog Trog Mist Speaker for Guidance, for example.Option 1: Modify what you've gotList 1 : KolgrimaMy standard Kolgrima list minus her shaman buddies. I've played this list a lot and enjoy it immensely. I've been moving away from it because Kolgrima is always in danger of dying, and I think I might need to run

Warmachine Weekend, Last Chance Qualifier Round 3, Madrak1 vs. Xekaar

Round 3 of the Last Chance Qualifier had me in a good spot. 2-0 and I hadn't had to play against anyone I already play against regularly. But then I drew Kevin Chang. The last time we played was at Lock n' Load. We were sitting pretty in round 4 at 2-1, and I stole a win on Ossrum with Grim Angus while the speedpaint was going on and blaring in the speaker right beside our ears.Kevin wanted payback. Also for the speakers. This time, however, Kevin brought new Skorne. I guess he was a Skorne player previously, so now he was simply returning to his roots. He brought the new stuff  that came out this recent CID, and especially the pairing I'd been dreading to face: the Supreme Guardian recursion monster paired with Skorne Style shootout. He knew he had me in a trap, too. Madrak1 is my anti-recursion list and Kolgrima gets to play against most anything else. And even when Madrak1 can weather some shooting he can't outlast an all out assault from certain shooting lists. And if I play Kolgrima and he decides to pl

Warmachine Weekend 2018, Last Chance Qualifier Round 2, Madrak1 vs. Mordikaar

Whenever I meet someone from Tulsa, they always make sure to tell me that they're friends with Clifton Cline, which immediately spells some trouble for me. The last time we played a game, Clifton and I, was back at the Adepticon before the transition into mk3, and Clif taught me just how terrible the Hunter's Grim's spell Mortality was for Trolls.Them knowing Clif means they're usually prepared for whatever I bring, or at least they've had some gameplay against a wide range of Trolls. On top of that, David was playing Skorne, a faction I hardly get to see. I've made half hearted attempts to unearth the models needed to play them and go through the motions of running through a deployment and identify possible threats lines, but then I decide, like I do when I try this with other armies, that they don't look like trolls so why would I put them on the table to begin with.David had two melee centric lists, so I felt fairly confident playing Madrak1, Thornwood Chieftain in Band of Heroes to utilize its warrior bene
