September Games - Week Four

Picking up where we left off...Sunday, 22 September 2019on Sunday evening Amanda and I played a game of Necromunda. Sunday evenings, in our fall schedule, were to be set aside for a Necromunda Campaign. I had hoped we'd get TWO games in each Sunday evening - and that's all we'd need to do for our campaign... that hasn't happened yet...We got started a bit late this week as Amanda decided to drag Finnegan out for a canoe paddle in the late afternoon (instead of doing it earlier when Keira and I were out at dance classes...?).My Delaque gang and her Escher gang fought for control of the Narco Den.You can read a full report of the game here:Wenz Pipe - Battle for the Narco DenMonday, 23 September 2019Monday, after Ballroom, was supposed to be our "back up" evening for Neromunda - if we didn't get two games played. No one was (well... the kids weren't) feeling up to playing necromunda, so Amanda and I played a quick game of pPatchwork... and then we went and started watching American Gods.It was, seriously, my BE

Space Rats, Melta Guns and Spooky Chibis

A few things rolling off the workbench this week...Superdeformed (or "chibi") spooky characters from Reaper bones. More experimenting with Contrast paints. How I've been doing a lot of these are undercoating with black gesso, then doing a heavy dry brush with a white gesso, and THEN applying Contrast paints - it keeps the dark recesses DARK - even if the contrast paint is... not-so-dark...It's fast... I'll say that. And if it means more people get more painted toys on the table, then I'm all for it. I wouldn't mind facing warriors painted this way - better than unpainted grey plastic!! But I don't love the look of them....Another ganger for the One-Eyed Red Snakes Delaque Necromunda Gang. The figure is a conversion, I think he had a lasgun or autogun originally... and I already had TWO of that figure, so I decided to convert it to have a special weapon of some sort... and I had a Meltagun that seemed like it would be easy to fit in there...Give then state of my gang in the current campaign, it will be a LONG

Military Truck on DriveThruRPG

The Military Truck kit is now available on DriveThruRPG. This kit lets you build a 28mm-32mm scale SciFi Military transport vehicle that comes with several options for the cabin, back tray, and chassis. The tray walls and tail are also hinged so they can be opened. The Military truck parts also works with all our other released Truck kits. Mixing and matching the parts in each kit allows you to build even more vehicles. For example, here’s the Military Truck cabin combined with the Prospector Rover parts.

A Few More Genestealer Cultists

Just a quick post - I cranked out a few more Genestealer Cultists for Finnegan the other evening. His cult has been slightly more successful in our Necromunda Campaign and was in need of new cult members, but just wasn't getting to painting them up.They're not the prettiest minis I've ever painted... but they were super quick to paint and now they're done and the dude has painted minis on the table... These were painted (almost) entirely with GW Contrast® paints.Coming Soon to Tim's Miniature Wargaming Blog:If I had to guess, I'd say it was probably going to be: RAAAAAAATS INNNNN SPAAAAAAAACE!

Wenz Pipe - Battle for the Narco Den

I totally thought this game was going to be played between the grrrlz... last week...I mean Finnegan and I got in a game on Sunday, but by the time we were done, Amanda and Keira just weren't up for playing a game - and I'd just picked up Stranger things Season Two from the library the day before - and we'd only watched one episode so far!! Monday they planned to play their game after Amanda and I got back from our Ballroom Dance class... but then we ended up missing our class and by the time we got home everyone was too tired... and... STRANGER THINGS! Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings are now filled with scheduled activities (at least for Amanda and Keira!)... So, Friday they said they'd play... but then we had an appointment with someone who was to come between 5:30 and 7pm... but then ended up staying past 8pm and by then we were almost done How I Met Your Mother Season Nine... and so... back to Sunday... our Necromunda game night. Though everyone had been saying since Friday that the Escher gangs

September Games - Week Three

Carrying on into the third week of my September Game-A-Day Challenge 2019...Sunday, 15 September 2019Finnegan and I  got in another game in our Necromunda campaign. I had a terrible night and very little sleep so bailed on my own Sunday afternoon Dance class, and Amanda ended up taking Keira to hers - while they were out, Finnegan and I set up and played a game. You can check out the full report here:The PitLater in the evening, after the Grrrlz got home and had had supper, we watched more of Stranger Things, Season Two...Monday, 16 September 2019Monday evening, Amanda and I have a Ballroom Dance class that we are now attending... unfortunately this Monday we were out late at an appointment with Finnegan and weren't back in time to go out to that. We had thought after Ballroom Amanda and Keira could get in their game of Necromunda, but by the time we were home and had had supper, no one was really interested in a more involved game of Necromunda...So Amanda and I had a quick game of 7 Wonders Duel...It wa

An Unusual Assortment of Odd and Sundry Items

I've been painting. Some of it's been further experiments with Contrast® paints.So... eight and a half years ago I bought a pile of these dirt cheap 1/35 scale Maschinen Krieger (Ma.K) models... and haven't really done anything with them. Through long and convoluted series of circumstances and thoughts and ideas, I got to working n a few of them this last week.My general idea was that these could be part of a Rogue Trader's personal retinue. The equipment might be of Xenos origin - having been out beyond the imperium for so many years (decades... CENTURIES...!?) they've taken on equipment of xenos manufacture or design - to replace equipment that was lost or broke beyond repair along their journey. Either that or possibly a unit of mostly human mercenaries working in the employ of the T'au...?I did try converting a few to incorporate actual 40k weapons... but they mostly ended up looking goofy. The most I've left with their original weaponry and just repainting and adding pilots to the ones that are opened up

The Pit

For them which comes from below, it seemed only natural and right that they should try to seize control of the Mine Workings - it does stretch down into their realm and impinge on the personal space of the Patriarch which rules over all of them. The sneaky ones in black were making their move to control the area. They had to be taught a LESSON!This week Finnegan and his Average Joes Genestealer Cult challenged my One-Eyed Red Snakes Delaque gang for control of The Pit - an abandoned mine shaft, extending from the lower parts of the Bronze Gates to some place much, much darker far below even the lowest reaches of the under hive.SCENARIOWe played a Sneak Attack Scenario - Finnegan's Genestealer Cultists were attacking into the territory of the Delaque Gangers to deface their relic... I got to set up 5 sentries who did sort of random stuff until the alarm was raised. Finnegan got his whole gang - or at least all the ones that he had figures for (I think her recruited a few new members last game, but didn't get f

September Games - Week Two

Still doing pretty good on the SECOND week of my September Game-A-Day Challenge...Sunday, 8 September 2019We started our long anticipated Necromunda Dominion Campaign this evening! There is some background and details of the starting gangs and territories here:The Bronze Gates Campaign (A Necromunda Dominion Campaign)It was a short and brutal fight that ended with the leaders of the two gangs in a vicious melee together!Full details of the game can be found here:Encounter a Fahr's PipeMonday, 9 September 2019On Monday Evening, Keira and I then played our first game. It did not go well for the One-Eyed Red Snakes (my House Delaque gang)...Full details of the game can be found here:Battle at Bilton's CornerTuesday, 10 September 2019Keira humoured me with a super quick game of Retro Lunacy after her dance classes.I won.and then I went to bed... not feeling really well - but I got in my game for the day!!Wednesday, 11 September 2019One Wednesday we tried out Twilight Squabble. Keira bought this when it came out a

Battle at Bilton's Corner

Bronze Gates Necromunda Dominion Campaign - Game TwoOn Monday evening Keira and I got in our first game in our Necromunda Dominion Campaign. For a bit of info on the campaign background, the territories within the Bronze Gates and our starting gangs check out this post:The Bronze Gates Campaign (A Necromunda Dominion Campaign)for an After Action Report of Game One (between Finnegan's Genestealer Cult and Amanda's Escher Gang) check out this post:Encounter a Fahr's PipeAs Bung's Hole had already been snapped up by The Crimson Wave, I challenged Keira's Pink Punchers for control of D52 - the region's Gambling Den...SCENARIOWe played a quick Tunnel Skirmish scenario, just as Amanda and Finnegan had in their game. As I was the challenger, the One-Eyed Red Snakes (my Clan Delaque gang) was the attacker and the Pink Punchers were the defenders. The battlefield was set-up accordingly and Keira began her deployment.THE GAMEKeira chose to set up her gang in one tile (defender had the option of setting up in one tile, o

Encounter a Fahr's Pipe

Bronze Gates Necromunda Dominion Campaign - Game OneYou can find some background on the campaign and details of the gangs and territories here:The Bronze Gates Campaign (A Necromunda Dominion Campaign)Sunday evening we started out Necromunda Dominion Campaign. I went through the territories and what they did for each gang and it was generally decided that the two territories that the Delaque gang got Enhanced Boons from were far too powerful to fall into my hands and so Finnegan's Genestealer Cult challenged Amanda's Escher for control of Bung's Hole, the Drinking Hole territory... The two gangs clashed at Fahr's Pipe, just outside Bung's Hole. Both were on their way to Bung's to "offer" him some "protection" forces establishment. Neither was willing to step aside and let the other gang take control...SCENARIORather than rolling we decided we should just play the Zone Mortalis Scenario 1: Tunnel Skirmish. We figured it was would be a quick way to jumpstart the campaign and maybe get two games in...We played w

The Bronze Gates Campaign (A Necromunda Dominion Campaign)

As mentioned in my Fall Plans, I've arranged with the family to run a Necromunda Dominion Campaign this fall. We'll be starting this Sunday evening and it will probably run until mid December - about thirteen weeks. The suggested time for a Dominion campaign is seven weeks - three weeks for the Occupation Phase, a week off, followed by three weeks of the Takeover Phase. I've decided to extend the Occupation and Takeover Phases to six weeks each - so there's less pressure to get in lots of games. If everyone plays ONE GAME each week, we'll be good, and Sunday evenings have, in theory, been set aside to play Necromunda! The Bronze GatesThe Bronze Gates region of Necromunda was abandoned hundreds of years ago when a hivequake buried most of the access ways and the Mechanicus Overseers determined the rubble was too unstable to bother trying to shift. In recent years some of the blockage was shifted when subsequent hivequakes caused into to collapse into a lower region, clearing a single precipitous Bridgeway to ac

September Games - Week One

As I am planning to play a game every day through the month of September, I thought I'd do weekly updates, rather than a monster post at the end of the month. As noted in my Fall Plans, I am continuing the tradition of 30 games in 30 days for September, but instead of making the kids play all of the games with me, I'm just doing it on my own. Oh, surely they will play SOME of the games with me, but the challenge is a personal one, and some of the games will be played with people other than my own family members.I'm also not making any requirements that every day be a different game, as we have some years. So, there may be a few days where I do play a quick game of For Sale with the kids, just to get a game in before going to bed. Here's how the first week went!Sunday, 1 September 2019Sunday afternoon Brent came over to play Nautilus with me and Amanda. The funny thing is the game used to belong to Brent! He won it at Fallcon (in a raffle) played it once with his kids, years ago, then is sat on his shelf f
