Power of Dhunia

Game 18: Borka2 vs. Madrak1

The Not so Civil War continues! This time Borka the Vengeance of the Rimeshaws raises the Power of Dhunia to face his own kinsman whom Ironwood Chieftain Madrak has taken! The Glacier King is not really going to get shots against an entirely cold immune army (and all the stuff that isn't cold immune shouldn't be a viable target) that really he should be looking for places to run up and try to remove Mulg or Rok from the table.Borka2 uses a combination of charges, lightning fists, and countercharges to cut a hole into the Raider picket line. DEF 15 is no joke, but to beasts and a warlock who can boost, the bigger question is whether they will Tough under Madrak's Even Ground. getting lucky Lightning damage rolls to pop more Tough rolls helps widen the opening in the front. The best part is that it's behind a forest, a decent spot to hide my battlegroup. Mulg stays within 3" to keep Arcane Vortex in check to prevent Hunter from going off.Instead of a charge, the Glacier King opts to power strike the Earthborn int

Game 14: Borka2 vs. Madrak1

Steven and I played two match-ups on that Saturday. The first was the one I would actually drop into his pairing. He brought Kolgrima and Madrak1. He figured Kolgrima wouldn't have game into either list (less use of sprays), so he dropped Madrak1 storm of the North. It's a list that uses a Glacier King, and I also really like how it plays.Borka2 POD is fast becoming a go-to list for me. One because it's low model count and two because it's effective. That doesn't mean it's easy to run.I start the game with five whelps out, and immediately sacrifice one for the Axer after all the other beasts run. Often Mulg gets Rush for free from Borka, or the Axer casts it on a piece that I want further forward, like if I'm going to need the Storm Troll. The other whelps start to position to contest the left zone.Unfortunately for me, a unit of Bears ambushes correctly and eats my contesting whelps. Not only do they eat the one contesting, but they are able to get into melee distance with the ones setting up to contest. The ta

Game 13: Borka2 PoD vs. Amon CM

Trying to get back into posting again. I was testing out a Grim1 Storm of the North/Borka2 Power of Dhunia pairing. Into Protectorate of Menoth, however, especially one that had "the jacks" I felt I had to drop Borka2.I'll have to write more thoughts about Trollbloods pairings, but I feel like a lot of our choices are obvious to our opponents and we rarely get to decide how a matchup is going to go.Going second against Amon is aggravating. I put the Storm Troll in front as a sacrifice to speed bump and give me options to countercharge forward.I also forgot that the Covenant of Menoth had a 5" Aura of no stationary... which means that if I were going to feat this should have been the time.Whelps deny scoring on the left zone. He sends in his Indictor early on to limit my spells, but Borka is able to stay outside and Primal his beasts. The trouble is the only beasts I can primal are Mulg and Rok because I haven't successfully staggered my beasts. Bad dice means it takes BOTH characters to trash the Indictor, so

My Lists for the Dice Dojo Steamroller March 9

We are hosting another dice dojo event at Chicagoland games this Saturday March 9. You can register for the event by submitting your lists at  https://conflictchamber.com/?event=734My own lists are publicly posted in advance. Left side, the model cutoff from Kolgrima is the minimum Long Riders, and right hand side the model cutoff from Grim1 is the Hooch Hauler. The Grim1 list is fun. I've played a variation of it before at Lock and Load and it performed admirably. I've traded the two minimum raider units in exchange for a full unit with a sorcerer just in case I need the magical weapons. I lose two bodies and an extra activation, but I like having the utility. The other way to gain that utility back would be to switch the krielstone elder to the stone scribe elder, but I feel like trying things with the Sorcerer and see how that goes.I've played all of one game with this iteration. As far as Kolgrima is concerned, the list is very similar to a standard Madrak1 list, and I'm debating whether or not it's jus

Game 9: Borka2 vs. Issyria

Round 3 of the ATC I had to play into Issyria. Concerned over the Dawnmowers (Dawnguard Tridents), I put down Borka2. The picture above is an early feat.In response, Issyria has to feat. I mess up Rok's Stumbling Drunk moves during the incoming fire from the Trident part of Issyria's feat turn by letting him open up line of sight to Borka. Hemera steps up and crit shots the Vengeance of the Rimeshaws. This strips off countercharge and Issyria's turn gets a little easier.Eating all those shots from the battle engines, I wonder now if I shouldn't have put more into trying to get Snow Shroud up to grant Borka's army concealment since it would not benefit from stealth if/when Issyria feated. The second Trident tries to finish off the Earthborn with shooting and fails, and then Imperatus tries to follow up and finish the job, but there's a mistake. Despite losing Battle Charged from Hemera's Critical Dispel, Borka's feat is still live, and models making melee attacks would turn stationary, which is what Imperatus d
