BOYL 2019 - Realm of Chaos mini Campaign

Hi All,On the Friday a group of us met up at Warhammer World and played in a linked campaign using warbands we had rolled up from the Realm of Chaos books. We rotated opponents and played three scenarios. Here is the campaign from my Champion's perspective. So I got very lucky with objective placement in the first game. I barely outlasted my opponent in the second game, we apparently attacked each other with the marked unit. In the third game the bewitched/possessed sword really messed with me. I had won it after the first scenario and it essentially made my champion useless for the next two battles.Anyway, loads of fun, fantastic models and bonkers shenanigans occurring.I may do a break down of my warband next before moving on to the next battle report. Thanks for looking.

Chaos orks and a complete Realm of Chaos Warband !

Just a week after Jon finished his warband, here is the last unit in my warband : the chaos orks !I have to be honest and say I pretty much painted those guys along the minotaurs and the renegade but by painting the colours in the right order, I could progressively get some of the models out of the paint queue and get a feeling of progress !Read Moar Skullz »

Marauder Beastmaster and Chaos hound - Make a Trish !

Well this pair was unexpected but it was a real refreshing one !If you're on Facebook and follow oldschool and oldhammer miniature pages, you might have read some of Trish Carden's excellent posts about her work. Like many people, I've found those posts to be extremely enjoyable because of the hindsight it provides on the design and constraints of the time.I think I'm also fascinated because to be perfectly honest here, I just never had considered which sculpts were hers and which were Aly's amongst the famous Marauder range. I can never tell which Perry twin sculpted what and I really find it's a pity we don't aknowledge sculptors more. With all that in mind, some friends and I thought about painting some of her work and make Trish pick her favourite. Like all brats, we want to be mom's favourite y'know. ^^I had a few possible candidates but I wanted something iconic I knew I could paint quickly and then I just remembered Trish posting about the Beatsmaster !I realise I'm missing the scorpion tailed hound but

Designing a Realm of Chaos Renegade Warband

So, following on Jon's trail, here I am trying to come up with a renegade warband for a Realm of Chaos game using the old tomes for a mini campaign at warhammer world this summer. Now  most people are familiar with the charts and their silly results but sometimes the rolls can be suprising. Some of the usual suspects likely to be involvedRead Moar Skullz »

We rolled up some RoC war bands

Hi All,So my son has been read the Realm of Chaos books here and there for a few weeks now. It's interesting the things he is picking up on and showing me as he looks through them. I have never really sat down to read them but just picked through the books at various times when a question occurs to me and then forgetting what the relevant information may have been. What follows is how we rolled our war bands. Did we do it right? Probably not, but the process once you have the two books in hand is somewhat chaotic. ;)Slaves to Darkness has this handy dandy chart, but it's still not really a guide to how to roll things up and the "instructions" in various sections have you jumping round the book.In the back of the Lost and the Damned they have all of the charts you need to roll things up.One of the things that confused me was this blurb about the marks of Chaos in the back of Lost and the Damned. It appears to be more specific with "Mark of Chaos" one receives. Here's what we did. It may be horribly wrong, let's

Realm of Chaos - goodies in White Dwarf

Hi All, This excellent post by Whiskey Priest got me thinking about a lot of things, so I went ahead and started looking at the White Dwarf issues around WD 107 which he mentions. After his post on Renegade Orks I had been starting to think about making my own Renegade war band. Off to the tomes (Slaves to Darkness, The Lost an the Damned) to go back over rolling a war band. I was able to complete my book collection (at stupid prices) a few years ago but the bug to actually do stuff with them had never firmly taken hold. I blame my usual gamer ADD.So, which issues have Relam of Chaos articles in them? Lets see.The first set of articles I found was in WD104The introduction of Slaves to Darkness, the color painted figure gallery that was in the book, and an article showing the process of converting Chaos mutations on your figures, complete with stat blocks of the finished example figures. Then WD106An exposition of Beastmen. I haven't read it through carefully, but I think it is more or less the s
