Song of Blades and Heroes
Heroes of The Others Board Game. Painted in tabletop standard by me and my wife. I ve allready painted some other minatures from the same game. You can see one of them here.
The miniature I've painted for my boardgames' collection. CoolMiniOrNot - The Blood Rage
A little over a decade and a half ago, before this blog was even started, my friend John was living in Calgary. Once or twice a year we'd get together and when we did we'd usually play Mordheim - which had been introduced to us by another friend - who was by then in Edomonton, CVT (CVT had run the Mordheim league here in Saskatoon and continued to come back and run tournaments at the Hero's Gambit convention in Saskatoon for a year or two after he moved to Edmonton). At that time, the Games Workshop store in Calgary apparently had monthly auctions to ditch old stock. John went to these. Once or twice he picked up something. One of those times he got a Tomb Kings starter army (or... battalion box?)- BEFORE they'd been officially released (it was an accident, the dude auctioning it off picked it up out of the wrong pile in the back, or something...?). Another time he scored a bunch of old metal Orc and Goblin and Hobgoblin Blood Bowl players. Oh man, there were minis in there that I'd seen in White Dwarfs and ha
Although this wasn't nearly so costly as some of the previous mistakes...and it didn't involve Eldar...(or Imperial Guard..)I ordered a bunch of plastic stuff from Russia...I'm not sure what I was thinking...Mouslings - seem to all be later renaissance mousketeers... They are a touch bigger than the Reaper Bones Mouslings I recently painted - but not so much that I wouldn't use them together.KnightsSkeletonsOrcsDwarvesI saw some of the miniatures posted on, I think, the Dragon Rampant Facebook group and a mention that they were available on eBay... so I went looking... and eventually tracked down a website in Russia that sold them. All told 100 of these hard plastic fantasy chibi AND six vehicles AND a sprue of terrain bits came to a total of about $80CAD ($61USD) - including shipping!? So... wasn't the worst mistake I've ever made...What was I thinking I'd use all these for? I don't know... Dragon Rampant? That's just silly... I mean, I HAVE piles of armies for it already - plus piles more I already ne
Some newly painted skeleton warriors from my constantly growing collection of miniatures. Hope you will like these.Banda szkieletów, którzy do niedawna zalegali w pudełkach. Udało się ich pomalować i jak zawsze stylóweczka nieco komiksowa wyszła. Chyba już nie potrafię malować w inny sposób ^^
I was ambushed by the young lad (age 8) this week asking for a game of 'Knights'. He wanted to get his new posse led by Sir John on the table and have a game. I opted to use standard Song of Blades and Heroes with simple warbands. Sir John and his retinue came in at just under 150 points, so I built an outlaw band the same strength.Sir John's PosseSir John - Q3 C3; Hero, Heavy Armour, SteadfastSwordsman - Q4 C2; SteadfastSpearman - Q4 C2; SteadfastCrosbowman - Q4 C2; Shooter - Long, Sharpshooter, SteadfastMerry ForestersRobin - Q3 C3; Hero, Good Shot, Shooter - Long, ForesterJohn - Q4 C2; ForesterWill - Q4 C2; ForesterMuch - Q4 C2; Shooter - Medium, ForesterTo get the game moving quickly, we used a 2' square board and deployed 1x Short in from our chosen table edge. My wee lad loves to customise stuff - no idea where he gets that from... When he saw Sir Guillaume, he asked if he could customise a knight too. So now, hot off the heels of family visits to Trim Castle, the National Heritage Park, and the Rock of Dunamase, I can present his small warband led by Sir John 'of Ireland'. Sir John himself, armoured with a shield, and armed with a mace and sword. The rear of Sir John showing his coat-of-arms. As you can see, the wee man also customised up a prototype for me so I knew exactly what I was supposed to be painting. Two sergeants: one with spear and shield and the other with sword and shield. A crossbowman to provide a bit of long range support.I suspect these will mostly be sitting on a shelf, but they will also see service in the new Robin Hood/outlaw game, and perhaps in the odd game of Song of Blades and Heroes as well. Every boy needs to be taught how to handle himself in a scrap...

Several miniatures for one of my boardgames: Descent Second Edition. We also use them during RPG sessions and for wargaming. One of the Merriods was painted by my sister thus they are different.
The painting pace slowed a bit this weekend. I had to take a bit of a break. I was tiring of the Hellions (and Drukhari in general) so I splashed a bit of paint on a few other things and I even managed to finish up a few of thems Saturday evening! (I often keep a few other things around the workbench for just such an occasion - when I want to paint something but just getting sick of what I've been working on).Lelith Hesperax - a Drukhari named character. Lelith is a succubus of the Cult of Strife. She'll probably end up being used as a "Counts As.." mini in a detachment using the Cult of Strife rules. This may or may not be used in the upcoming tournament. I may finish up one of the regular generic Succubi for the force Finnegan's going to use.Dwarf wizards from Lead Adventure Miniatures. I actually painted the female wizard some time ago, but repainted her dress as I didn't like the colour. It was originally painted blue, but that just wasn't working for me (and besides, I also painted another pair of Dwarf W
