Idea Last spring I got hooked on Age of Sigmar. I had previously been playing Orcs in Kings of War and wanted to pick a faction that had a bit more finesse and a tactical play style. Orcs are very much a run straight at the enemy and ‘smash better than they do’ army. I spent some time looking through the current factions in AoS and Sylvaneth looked like a good fit. I really liked the aesthetic of haunted forests and their gameplay utilized lots of magic and movement chicanery. Sylvaneth Wyldwoods, a faction specific terrain piece, are a central part of both of those mechanics. At the beginning of the game 1, 2 or 3 of these are placed on the table. Enemies can be damaged and impeded by them. Friendlies can get buffs from and teleport between them. Heroes can also summon additional wyldwoods. So a number of these terrain pieces are necessary to play. The games workshop kit looks pretty neat, but also comes with a $33 price tag attached to it. I looked at it and thought,’I can probably save a
Last weekend some stuff happened in Vegas and it happened to leak out, so here goes just a few of the things of interest to me.Games Workshop revealed the Sylvaneth Warband for Warhammer Underworlds. There's no telling when the models will actually be up for sale, but they do exist in studio form. I'm only mildly interested in the release, however. I was always more into Guerilla Elves rather than the Spirit Elves of the Wood Elves. People got to pick up some Monsterpocalypse monsters and buildings ahead of release schedule, like Zor-Raiden!He seems to be all-in on the melee front, and he makes his ninjas get to punch things and move away. What's not clear to me is if combined hit and runs get to move one model or all of them...The Shadow Sun Syndicate building adds more movement shenanigans to the ninjas, which is both fluffy and exciting. If Armodax is the closest thing I can get to a turtle at this point in Monsterpocalypse, I don't think I'm gonna care what it does. It just has to exi
Huy from HuyCon Wargaming brings the Skaven of Clan Pestilens to face my Sylvaneth in this 2000pt Matched Play game!
More work has been done AND the first game has taken place down in my new Game Room. All in all, great progress since the first post. This time last year is when I started packing up my gaming space in my last house in preparation to sell and move. It’s been a long road, but I finally feel like I’ve made it…somewhere. Game Time My brother was in town for Thanksgiving so that gave me some drive to get my gaming table up. My plan is to rebuild this table into a 9ft x 5ft setup to accommodate the same rough size of games but also allow for space for books, figures, drinks, etc. Organization A part of what I enjoy in gaming is organizing the things I collect, consider it an outlet for my obsessive side. I was able to finally organize all of my wargaming and RPG books in one place, as well as all of my dudesmen. New shelves filled Books all unpacked First Game! Lastly, the first official game was had in the Game Room. A quick game of Age of
For non polish visitors, I hasten to explain that Carnival of Blog's Minis is the initiative of polish miniatures bloggers. The idea is based on monthly challenges on various topics about miniatures etc. This month's theme is "AUTUMN". In the firts part of my Carnival I wrote a short article about the season of fall (here) and today I want to show You my Athel Loren Wood Elves (in Age of Sigmar Wanderers and Sylvaneth army):Highborn (Waystrider),Nomad Prince (Araloth),Spellweaver,Waywatcher,Standard Bearer, dryads, glade guard, glade riders (converted into wild riders).More photos below.P.S. Soon I will "recruit" more miniatures and post even more photos =)Trwa 49 edycja Figurkowego Karnawału Blogowego, którą mam zaszczyt i przyjemność prowadzić, zaś motywem przewodnim jest "JESIEŃ". W drugiej części mego wkładu w FKB (w pierwszym napisałem artykuł o jesieni - tutaj) zaprezentuję Wam obecny skład mojej drużyny Leśnych Elfów
I managed to maintain a good pace of painting so today I want to show you the last hero for my Athel Loren Wood Elves squad - the Eternal Guard. Araloth miniature, the Lord of Talsyn and personal Champion of Queen Ariel, fits my squad perfectly. It's also very important that despite the death of the Old World there is still a place for him in Age of Sigmar Wanderers and Sylvaneth army as the Nomad Prince. The miniature is made of plastic and despite a few gaps between the elements, I just loved painting it! Initially, Araloth was to be completed on a lower level, but he seemed to demand special treatment and therefore painting him took me more time than I expected. Fortunately, I was only limited by the colours of the rest of my autumn Asrai =)I hope my effort has not gone to waste and that you will like this incarnation of the Nomad Prince =)P.S. What do you think about his magical blade with non metallic metal elements?P.S.2. Soon I will post a group photo of all the heroes for my Warheim Fantasy Skirmish sq
