Tomb Kings project has recently been completed. So it’s time for another army in a miniature 10 mm scale. It will be an army of the Empire, full of pikemen, mages, cavalry and shooters. Some of the models are classic GW designs, many of them will come from independent manufactories. In first post I would like to show you a few commanders. For some of them we have prepared small dioramas. Below gallery Commission painting – firstname.lastname@example.org
Hello! I’m publishing today the last post with Tomb Kings army for Warmaster. In the two previous entries you could have a look at individual units. Below you can see a few photos of commanders’ bases and a group shot. I must admit that it was nice to return to the desert climate. I’m curious if in Age of Sigmar this faction will be resurrected one day Painting orders -email@example.com
So the Warmaster Chaos figures I painted earlier are finally based. I forgot how much of a PITA it is to base 10mm Warmaster figures. The models are in two strips so there is not a lot of space between each strip which makes the entire process either long (basing one strip at a time) or troublesome (painting between two strips of figures). I chose troublesome since I wanted to have these done before I am a grandfather and these models aren’t exactly the best paint job I have ever done. But they are finished.
Welcome to the new month! As announced, I am continuing to publish photos of the Tomb Kings army for the Warmaster system. The models are in 10mm scale Here you can find chariots, warmachines and a few special units. Despite so many years, sculptures can still enjoy the eye. A great advantage of WM is the number of figures that appear on the table – it allows you to create battles of really big momentum. Personally, I am most tempted by the ancient or medieval variant. Only when to find the time for it all…. Nevertheless, I invite you to watch this small gallery. Enjoy! Commission painting – firstname.lastname@example.org
Black Gate Miniatures, producers of a very fine range of 10mm Ogres, are coming back with a new range in the very near future... Demons!I was given a few of the first casts of the first sculpt completed by Robi to paint up and review:I went for a some non-standard schemes to trail out stuff rather than a traditional red or flesh tone, and im tempted to go with a riot of colours for when i get passed some more over the coming weeks hehe, should look good in a fully based unit i reckon.
I would like to welcome you in the new project – Tomb Kings Warmaster army! It would seem that this wargaming system, long abandoned by the official manufacturer, has already died a long time ago. Nothing more wrong! He lives and has a surprisingly good life – just drop into the thematic groups on Facebook to discover how lively and dedicated community stands behind the game. There are regular tournaments, leagues and events in England… The whole series will have three entries. In the first one you will see basic units such as infantry, cavalry and archers. In the second one there will be beasts and special units, while in the last one I will present the heroes and the whole army. Models are original figures, which can still be found on many popular auction services. In total, you can see several hundred miniatures on a 10 mm scale. This is a challenge for the eye and for the brush and I can’t wait to present you with other, even more interesting projects and photos…. But about
So 2018 was the year of Gates of Antares. I now have the core of two armies painted and its a matter of adding a model or unit here and there to add some more options. I plan on running a few Boot Camp events the game this year and that might require me to paint up a small 600 point Concord force as well but its not going to be necessary. While I can’t predict where the distracted magpie of my gaming focus will eventually go, the intention for this year is to try to build an army for Epic as well as Warmaster. There are some local gamers who are building Epic forces and there are enough proxy miniatures being produced now that it is possible to build well-balanced armies for Epic. Also, enough time has passed since my last foray into the game that I can ignore the sting of selling my Chaos army. Onslaught Miniatures produce a wide range of 6mm sci-fi figures including almost a full range of proxies for the Tau. I used some of my Xmas funds to purchase the core of a 2000 point Tau army and those minis ar
The new year has begun and there are some new minis on the painting table. The first is a general for my upcoming Chaos Warmaster army. Chaos General The model is part of a set of Chaos miniatures I picked up at a bitz sale at Imaginary War a few years ago. I just need to do a touch of work on the banner to add a chaos symbol to both sides. Also on the table is a set of Dystopian War British Medium tanks. Tanks for the Omnissiah! These are meant to be 2mm Dystopian Wars minis but I am going to use them as 6mm Adeptus Mechanicus APCs. I’ve used some PVA glue to stick them to some bases so I can use my painting handles when painting them. Originally I was thinking of using them as Imperial Guard proxies but I think that the ‘steampunk’ look suits the Mechanicus better. These will join some similar models that I painted some time ago as well as some Vanguard Miniatures Cybershadow miniatures to fill out the infantry and walkers.
The Warmaster Tomb Kings army I have is an acquisition from a friend who used to play the game. Despite having 1000s of points of Skeleton Warriors he began to paint up some Chaos Marauders as units of ethereal undead warriors. He initially painted them in white but since then GW has released the Hexwraith Flame shade and so I did a wash with that and then drybrushed the models with Pallid Wytchflesh and then white.
So while we’re talking about old, unsupported games, it appears that there is a community effort underway (a new one actually) to incorporate the changes from Warmaster Ancients to the original Warmaster fantasy rules called Warmaster Revolution. I used to play a lot of Warmaster back when it was being supported by GW and then by Specialist Games. And as much as I liked the game it had some serious issues that ultimately made it not so much fun to play. The biggest issue, for me, was that combat continued until such point as the attackers were destroyed or there were no enemies left to attack. The worst-case example of this were High Elf cavalry attacking a flank and then working their way through half an army before attrition stopped them. Have that happen to you a few times and you quickly lose interest in the game. When Warmaster Ancients was released it was rumoured to be the beginning of a second edition of the Warmaster rules but Games Workshop gutted the Specialist Games division before that coul
I ran a Warmaster Revolution tournament this past Friday down at Fall In!, and played in an Epic Armageddon tournament on Saturday. Great games and great armies. Enjoy the pics!
