Coming of the Comet

Twotwill Island, Xoxigar Tertium (Imperial World)3.537.019.M42The Asuryani of the Biel-Tim Fleet shifted their focus from Xoxigar Secondus, to the more lush Xoxigar Tertium. Farseer Thymiltelyir foretold of a comet making landfall on a remote island of the world. At the centre of the comet would be an extremely rare element that was vital to the continued survival of their fleet. The warhost under his command had hoped that they would be leaving the hated Astartes behind on Xoxigar Secondus, but as they arrived at the site, there they were... just waiting for them... As the two forces approached to engage each other, debris from the comet coming apart started falling from the sky. FORCESAeldari Forces of the Biel-Tim FleetAsuryani Battalion Detachment - Biel-Tim Fleet (as Biel-Tan) HQ Farseer - 4 PL - War MasterWarlock - 3 PLTroopsDire Avengers (5) - 4 PLDire Avengers (5) - 4 PLDire Avengers (5) - 4 PLDire Avengers (5) - 4 PLElitesHowling Banshees (5) - 5 PLAsuryani Battalion Detachme

Assault on Throshi Station

On Wednesday evening Other Tim and I tried a smaller game of Apocalypse - each of us had around 100 points...Throshi Station, Xoxigar Secondus (Mechanicus Forge World)4.525.019.M42There was a brief, desperate cry for help, and then silence. Throshi Station had gone dark.In the following hours, rumours spread of a massacre. The Eldar had come from seemingly nowhere, in the middle of the night, and killed everyone in the remote mining and processing station on Xoxigar Prime. This followed the modus operandi of the perfidious Eldar - strike with surprise and excessive violence and then disappear as quickly as they had arrived... except... they didn't disappear this time. A force was holding the station for some reason, at least temporarily. Long enough for a company of the Emperor's Brethren Space Marine Chapter to mount a counter-attack!FORCESAeldari Forces of the Biel-Tim FleetAsuryani Battalion Detachment - Beil-Tim Fleet (as Biel-Tan) HQ Farseer - 4 PL - War MasterWarlock - 3 PLTroopsDire Avengers

The Battle of the Denfeld Wastes - Part One

So with all this painting of Eldar lately, The Girl's been getting interested in 40K and her own Aeldari forces. Excited enough that she started reading some of the Black Library novels she picked up a while ago and even went halfsises with me on a big lot of Eldar a local dude was selling. She's been busily prepping and priming her new acquisitions the last few days and then, on the weekend, actually asked if we could play a game - well, I knew to strike while the iron was hot and set up a game for us on Monday evening...SITUATION4.347.019.M42- Xoxigar SecondusAn Aquila Lander has crashed in the Denfeld Wastes. Artifacts acquired by the Deathwatch - the Chamber Militant of the Inquisition's Ordos Xenos - were aboard. Items of vital importance to the Inquisition and the safety of the Imperium! As the 5th Company, 382nd Tallarn (Desert Raider) Regiment were the closest imperial forces stationed near the crash site they were tasked with securing the site until members of the Inquisition could be broug

Get Morty!

The Seer Council, following a probability thread through the skeins of fate, determined the future of an Exodite world is in extreme peril. Bother Mortis ("Morty", to his friends) of the Emperor's Brethren Chapter will one day rise to prominence and eventually perpetuate a genocide against the exodites. The Seers have divined this Marine's moment of peak vulnerability is at hand. A Battle Host was summoned to slip through the web ways and set up an ambush to intercept a marine strike force that includes Brother Mortis. The Marines had just engaged a large force of Orks on Xoxigar Primus and return to their Thunderhawk gunships, secured in a nearby landing zone, fatigued and low on power, fuel, and ammunition. They will not be in a position to engage in a protracted battle. SCENARIOWe played the Ambush Scenario straight out of the Core Rulebook - except on a much smaller table. As the table was smaller, we shortened the scenario by one turn. Essentially the defending Marines had 4-6 turns to get 1/3

Escape and Evade

For the last few weeks the 222nd Guaiacan Commando Regiment has been heavily engaged against a massive force of Tyranids.  It started when scores of pods started making planetfall. Sergeant Hammer's Team was on a long range reconnaissance patrol at the time and was able to locate half a dozen of the pods, vox in the coordinates and watch them burn as they were bombarded with orbital lance batteries. So many more escaped the orbital bombardments, though. So large were the forces, both in number and physical size, that aid had to be requested from the neighbouring forge world of Xoxigar Secondus - in the form of two Warhound Scout Titans! The Scout titans eliminated the threat from the Hierophant Bio-Titan, but Elements of D Squadron, #4 Commando were overrun and the battle ultimately lost. Survivors of the engagement retreated back to their local firebase and have been under siege ever since. While still out in the field, Sergeant Hammer's team found themselves being surrounded by swarms of the Tyranids. Friendly Fire on Xoxigar Secondus

Xoxigar Secondus4.037.019.M42After a lengthy warp translation, the men and women of the 382nd Tallarn (Desert Raider) Regiment finally made it to the Xoxigar System. Other Guard regiments were in the System; the shattered remains of two Valhallan Regiments had taken up post on the frozen world of Xoxigar Prime - little action was expected there. The 222nd Guaiacan Commando Regiment was already in the thick of the fighting in the Jungles of Xoxigar Tertium. The Tallarn were earmarked for Xoxigar Secondus. There had been little fighting there, so far. They were being sent to bolster the planets PDF and Skitarii Legions and protect the vital installations of the forge world. The travel to the planet and shuttling dirtside took too long, but the troops of Tallarn were happy to stand on solid ground and see the sky - though the air wasn't much of an improvement...The 5th Company was stationed in the Southern Hemisphere, near vital promethium refining facilities and were set to patrolling the sprawling brownfield th

Guaiacan Commandoes Arrive on Xoxigar

4.912.018.M41Xoxigar TertiumAgravian subcontinentSector 43 - The Area of Operations for the 222nd Guaiacan Commando Regiment. After such a long transit through the warp and painfully slow movements to orbit their destination world and the woefully disorganized planetfall, Sergeant Hammer knew his troopers were NOT in their best form. Despite all the sim-training throughout the voyage and the constant physical training, their heads were not "in the game". They lacked a sense of urgency. The usual razor sharp edge of their bodies and minds had been dulled. Sergeant Hammer decided the best thing he could do for them was to get them out patrolling in the jungle - pushing hard - looking to make contact with the enemy... The rest of the squadron could finish setting up their forward operation base.Sergeant hammer mustered his section, grabbed "Doc" Sanders, and a couple of the gunners from the troop's special weapons section and headed out for a long range patrol. After a day it was evident this jungle wa

Campaign on Xoxigar

I've been wanting to start a bit of a narrative campaign for Kill Team since it came out. I wanted to get something special ready for the players - a rich background setting of my own devising and a bunch of purpose made scenarios to weave an elegant narrative in the grim dark galaxy of Warhammer 40,000... Well, I'm not quite there. I'm not sure if I'd ever be there... in the words of General George S. Patton; "A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan executed next week..." So I just went ahead and started a campaign this past Friday evening with just bit of background and a desire to build the campaign narrative as we go...What follows is a bit of the background I have hammered out so far and reports of the first two actions of the campaign.Campaign on XoxigarPositioned just on the wrong side of the Cicatrix Malledictum, Xoxigar has felt the light of the Emperor diminish in recent times, though not so much as to be completely forgotten. The Xoxigar system has three inhabited planets.
